  • I kind of like the sound track. It has an apocalyptic quality that goes with the destructive purpose of the B-29. though I respect you old war-bird curmudgeons who hate the music, though I am equally tired of hearing Glen Miller tracks that accompany every other B-29 clip. Written in fun and jest only - respect to you all.

  • El sonido esta muy malo. Por favor, ojalla que puede ud. removar la musica apestosa. Donde esta el sonido (narracion) original?

  • I agree, the soundtrack sucks. C'mon this could be so much better.

  • I forgot how bad the lead singers voice really was. Stop , youre killing my hears!!

  • i think they shud modernize these, and put vulcans, instead of 50s, and put a 105 mm or dual 75mm cannons on bottom, then again, the arab wud rather bomb their own country than make planes

  • music is horrible and pointless

  • Why is it that people think they must take a perfectly good video....especially documentary types.....and Destroy them with background "NOISE" (in this case) ?!!?!!?

  • Haviam pessoas embaixo,

  • GREAT FOOTAGE, ABSOLUTE SHIT SOUNDTRACK.

WHY DO SAD BASTARDS DO THIS ????

  • best music I ever heard

  • Very good video - and White Zombie added kick to the imagery.

I enjoyed the rare footage of the '29 in olive drab paint. I am used to seeing the "silver bird" look of the '29. Great video of a unique and truly great American plane.

  • Great Footage and Great Sound Track adds up to a Awesome Video! Yes I ENJOYED IT!!

  • lol rob zombie FTW

  • Mute this vid and start "rob zombie mix vid" in other window

  • The so called music ruins this otherwise excellent video:

  • Music is there to entertain, not set the mood for this video! KIck ass song for a kick ass plane! If you like planes, cut the sound down, I promise you will still like it!

  • mettalica seek and destroy would work great

  • Hahaha, you whiny bastards, this song is as rock and roll as rock as roll gets. Perfect backdrop for one of the most dangerous bombers ever conceived.

  • DUMB MUSIC !

  • whats with the porn music?

  • I like Rob Zombie, but this is not a good choice for a soundtrack. Try some Big Band music or something...

  • Music is all about setting the mood and working with the imagery. The music is ill-suited for the film. It takes away from the otherwise excellent visuals. In fact, I watched it through a second time with some different music, more suited to the period, and it's a much better fit.

  • Skipped most of it, DUDE... The music ruined it..

  • Just think, those airmen gave their lives so someone can play the soundtrack for this video!

  • flying death thats what the germans called them, more fordmidable when flying in groups, bloody good vid, music not suited

  • @TheAntz63 -- dude, b-29s weren't used against europe/nazis, but in pacific -- and ABSOLUTELY raided in 'group' formation.

  • Great song.

  • yeah because everybody loves how the enola gay dropped an A bomb

  • I really like how the stupid music covers up the narration. Didn't watch it.

  • Horrible soundtrack... no connection to subject... distracting.

  • The #1 mistake made by YouTube posters.

  • @dkirsten i agree

  • @dkirsten

    Your face is distracting.

  • Utimateってなんだよ。

    Ultimateだろ。

  • this music stinks

  • You need smell the coffee...This song has always put the GO GO in place of the NO NO ....HIGH VOLTAGE

  • Google "Kee Bird."

  • interesting sound track (0:20 - 0:38) -- so, we "fucked" the Japanese with B-29s? More like Imperial Japan awakened a sleeping giant, who then tore them a new asshole --

  • hey, japan killed thousands of innocent people and raped chinise in the nangan or whatever it was called massucer

  • Oh, agreed - the "Rape of Nanking", the Manchurian biowarfare & extreme medical experimentation, the Death Marches, notorious prison camps, the entire Bushido code where virtually anything you do to win is justified -- yep, Imperial Japan brought it upon themselves -- it can even be said that fewer Japanese died as a result of the atom bombings than would have if the US had invaded the home islands - but it's always best for the victor to stop hating as soom as possible, it's soul-destroying

  • yes and then the US and the brits helped out west germany, and the US helped Japan rebuild its ecomomy

  • In both cases it was to counter the USSR, our new enemy, wasn't it? And also, since those two countries and peoples would eventually revive themselves, we wanted to be right there overseeing them. Or so I gather -

  • Niec video! White Zombie! I thought it would be KISS when I saw the title, but it fits perfectly. It's "modern" but it fits. Great work synching the film to the music.

I agree with Specopleader, that is a lot of bombs.

  • a nation under God, no one can beat.

  • yes - though it doesn't mean we can't do better still - we aren't necessarily perfect simply because our founding fathers were smart enough to devise a well-reasoned Constitution and our grandfathers fought like hell to defend the nation -- we ourselves have to strive to be the best we can be in each succeeding generation (sez me, slouched at a PC workstation) :)

  • sorry i could not understand what you were trying to say? what were you getting at?

  • Sorry, I wasn't clear - I meant to give a sense of irony & disapproval of war in general -- sometimes, Americans can be excessively triumphant about how American is so mighty -- my feeling is that it's just a damned shame that cultures clash, regimes become hostile, & all the young men of both sides get sent off to kill each other. When a war is won, the joy should be that the fighting has stopped, not that the enemy is beaten. But hating the enemy is part of the war effort - that's too bad

  • If the enemy is "evil", there is nothing wrong with hating (as long as it's not taken to the extreme, like torture or inhumane treatment) them. A war in self defense, where peaceful negotiation has failed, is a just war. It doesn't mean people like, or that they want to go through with it. It just means it was the best option at the time.

  • It gets complicated, doesn't it - Western nations exploited Asia, so if Asian nations decide to take control, is that wrong? But the Japanese "greater co-prosperity sphere" was in fact an empire, with slave labor taken from the conquered peoples. The US tried to stop Japanese influence by restricting access to oil, and Japan decided to attack. In general, the aggressor is considered the bad guy, especially if that nation is attempting to conquer & subjugate other nations. -

  • Yes, it can be complicated. Asia had a right to self control, but Japan went too far, especially against China. At that point, their proclamation of liberation became just a ruse.

And yes, humanity can be a casualty of war. A nation must be careful not to lose its just cause for battle. A just cause permits entry and continuation of fighting, but once the cause is no longer there, war must stop. War itself is not something to enjoy, and I believe most people feel this way.

  • True - though a people can be motivated to war if they are threatened, or if they feel overcrowded by surrounding nations or that they have a just cause to spread out (cultural/racial superiority has been touted as a just cause of course) -- then once the war is begun, the soldiers have to suffer all the harm. As long as one side is winning, it tends to "enjoy" the war. Or ferocity tends to rule, so that atrocities are committed. "War is politics by other means", "war is all hell" - both true

  • I'm talking too much - my original point is simply that it is unseemly and improper for Americans to gleefully exult in our use of superior force in WW2. It had to be done, but it is not anything to gloat over. Adn some of the video clips on the B-29 bomber seemed to have that sort of feeling to them, so I had to comment.

    Have an excellent day!

  • and of course, the individual soldier is fighting for home and country and honor and to keep from letting his comprades down. Once a war starts, it plays out, and everyone does what they are compelled to do, and people lose humanity as they go. So many young men sacrified horribly, so that one people can thrive at the expense of others, or to prevent the spread. It's all biological, really, at bottom - we all want our own kind to succeed - but we're all human, tho propaganda says otherwise...

  • the vid. Great , the music sucks

  • this is a war machine, the most heavily armed and armored plane in the world, and, the most bomb capacity, this is a true beast

  • Videos great.I remember it all.Where in the world does this music come from? From another planet! I think you could have shown a little more respect in doing this with the music. This was WW2!

  • that is a shitload of bombs for a WWII bomber! 1:13

  • b-29 chasing and shooting down a fighter plane???

  • what the HELL kind of music is that ! are you on CRACK?

  • and then the russians stole 3 b-29s to create the tu-4

  • along with every other aircraft design. lol

  • Actually, the Russians kept 3 aircraft that landed in Russia after bombing Japan because the USA wouldn't sell them

  • fantastic aircraft - we should salute all that served... wicked footage esp colour WW2 stuff!! but crap soundtrack - white zombie pulls... astro creep suxs

  • The 1:48 Revell model for this plane is the shit!

  • My Dad flew both B17s (12th AF, North Africa) and B29s(444th Bomb Group, CBI). He is 85 now...lots of interesting stories, shot down three times. He says B29 engines were pretty bad.. oiling problems with upper cylinders. He adds that the B17 was more of a pilot's plane but the B29 was 10x more comfortable. Yes, towards the end, lots of murder missions and senseless bombing. Only in the last few years has he discussed that stuff. A lot of the air crews were bothered by that, I guess

  • Yeah my grandpa was in the army and he was just telling me how his job after the war ended was to find the numerous B 29's that were shot down and crashed in the pacific theatre..

  • I think it's the only plane whom's single loss was from friendly fire.

  • That is not correct.

Much information is available on the B-29's combat record via a quick search.

Many were lost in WW2, and many more were lost in Korea.

  • That's not what the Military channel told me.

    I know, American propaganda >.>

  • My father is still alive today and he was what he calls a "waist" gunner I think because he had control of both L and R center turits on a 29 late in the pacific confict. To be very short due to youtube text limits, I think he hated what he was commanded to do. Towards the end of the war, it just was to be a murder mission because the japanese leaders at that time would not quit. My dad has no interest in seeing this plane again. My dad wanted to come home alive, that's all.

    Thanks 29 fans

  • You´ve said it.

  • right you are....my dad was a flight engineer off of Tinian, and had flown the "Hump" from Piardo.... if you do a little research. you'll find the B-29 was a very unforgiving airplane....engines had a tendency to catch fire, the bomb sight did not work from high-altitude, and most who flew her were glad to get out alive. the B-29 was all about payload and a bombing, gunning system that did not work...but it DID end the War with Japan.

  • Thanks Volkskraft and itsabig for responding. I'm wondering if itabig's father's still with us. If so my father may want to contact him. My father was on Tininan as well, on "Dyamite Dottie", as pictured in our logs. Please forward to your dad if God has willed, otherwise, thanks again for responding!

    Again, thanks B-29 Fans!

A side note from the EAA in Oshkosh, we can be expecting a B-29 next year 2009!

    Jim

  • I personally think that the choice of music is good in this video, I cant really see why you are all complaning, the only bit that wasnt neccersary was that 'special piece' in the intro XD

  • same the music doesn't fit and what was with the beginning? seriously you can keep that off the internet

  • Cool flick, Camo painted superfort Very Nice If you dont like the music turn down speaker, and enjoy the eye candy.

  • To find film of a camoed B-29 is hard given how few I think only the protytpes where actually camoed.

  • Cyrix01 nice language man. GROW-UP!!!!!!!

  • cuz this music sucks to this vid

  • I dont need Glenn Miller necessarily, but this music SUCKS>

  • これを見るとイラクで苦しむ米兵の苦しみが自業自得に思える

  • unit 731,rape of nankin, denial: tell me about what Japan deserves.

  • GREAT VIDEO!!!! by the way, all you whiners of the music have no idea where the mute button is???

  • Lose the Music and the Video is good.

  • this song sucks!!!! Great footage though!

  • TURN OFF THAT STUPID MUSIC!

  • HELL YES!!! SOOOOOO many videos ruined by STUPID MUSIC.

  • Personally, I prefer the plane's beautiful hum over the music.

  • Great! What's the name of the song?

  • Rob Zombie-More Human than Human

Outstanding video. Hopefully people out there can get more of these babies up in the air again.

  • Thank you! Thank you!

  • "ARTICLE XXII

Aerial bombardment for the purpose of terrorizing the civilian population, of destroying or damaging private property not of military character, or of injuring non-combatants is prohibited."

  • has 1 of these planes i mean a bomber ever done a barrel roll?

  • GREAT video, great song BEAUTIFUL bird. MORE! My grandfather was the tailgunner on the sad tomato, I've always loved this plane. Such a shame that fifi is the only one left!

  • Nice colour footage of Tokyo, Yokohama and Osaka getting it with incendiaries

  • Excellent,absolutely awesome!Thank you!

  • The 29 really is a beautiful plan, to bad it didn't serve very long...

  • on the date of Augest 6th 1945 over hirosima japan there were 3 B-29's the Enola Gay Necessecary Evil and if any one knows could you tell me the other

  • The great artiste! My grandfather and his b29 crew (the sad tomato) were shot down by flak a few days before that and were the first americans in hiroshima after the bomb was dropped!

  • There was a third plane carrying a nuclear bomb that never made it to Japan. Vegas Author Tony Stephen has written a book about it called "The Mystery of the Vanished B-29 Bomber." I am editing an interview I did with him and will be publishing it soon. Interesting book.

  • I know where there's an abandoned one of those... :) empty, clean...slightly rusty but just like it was 45 years ago when it was left...shhh secret! ;) really.... it's true

  • Where??!?! lets restore and fly it! hahaha

  • oooh i wish... my father was in the RAF in WWII he had many USAF friends which he would entertain while they were over in the UK during the war... now he told me of one at the North Pole... ran out of fuel.. thats the one i mean :) beautiful, but a horrible tragedy for all concerned trying to restore that wonderful plane, i believe there's some videos on line about it, Keebird i think she was called...

  • Ahhh, yeah, she's at the bottom of a frozen lake now burnt to a crisp along with 4 brand new P&W radials. I almost cried watching that thing burn up, they were so close. Word is Boeing is helping with the restoration of "Doc" right now and she should be flying soon.

  • More please !
