  • Good engine but for me. Rolls Royce anyday!

  • and more A380 operators have chosen RR engines over EA. Boeing usually prefer to use RR engines when they launch a new aircraft like the 787.

  • rolls royce has the best engines

  • Pure BS, GE is not even close to PW and RR engines ....

  • @nrml2001 Your right GE is the world leader in turbine engines and also sells the most. Of all the A380's ordered ( 244 ) as of this date, 55% of them are ordered with the Engine Alliance engines ( a joint venture between GE & P&W )

  • This engine is the future, a far leap ahead of other engines in its thrust class

  • this is so awesome! i love to 747-8!

  • this is the best engine that GE produced ever !!!

  • 747-8..... Winner, plus its better design where form meets function. Besides all major airports were designed around the 747 at the time. No need really to extend runway lengths unlike 380. Good Job Boeing.... If it aint broke than dont try to fix it, but improve on it....thats exactly what they did. Imporved.

  • @108107643 if a airport is able to land a 747 just now will it still be able to land the new one then with out extending the run way?

  • I looked at some boeing videos, some engines are made by roles royce apparently

  • @guitarguy2596 Yeah the ones that explode!

  • A380 is a engineering master peace the 747-8 is just a upgrade

  • @beardyboy57 that's the irony of it. Boeing only had to upgrade its 747-400 to be able to compete with the newly engineered A380s.

in the other significant field of aircraft usage, which is cargo transport, the 747 fleet is and will remain unrivaled, even if an A380F rolls out anytime soon (which won't happen)- unless of course A380Fs come with a price tag (which it doesn't).

  • @mangenkyu UPS and FEDEX cancelled its Airbus A380-Fs and bought Boeing!

  • @beardyboy57 Let me tell you if you like flying in a plane with defective exploding RR Trent Engines fly every mile you can. The Quantes A380 flight with two exploding RR Trent engines was a miracle of pure luck. I tell every 1 to watch "Airbus A380 Flutter Test" + A380 started coming apart at the center spar with less that 1G of force. Boeing 747-400 have taken 4 to 5Gs + have landed safely. When I say an Airbus A380 is piece of shit with two wings I mean it + at best its flying hunk of junk!

  • 2 people missed the "like" button:)

  • General Electric paid ZERO taxes last yr!...Obamas payback for NBC getting him elected,..Google it!

  • i understood just about nothing of what the narrator said, but it sounds good.

  • how does this compare with the 777 engine?

  • Nice engine. Brother-in-law just retired from GE as a metalurgical engineer on their jet engines. Said admin is dumber than rocks and company is cheaper than cheap. Hated working for them but said it was a job.

Would not want to fly either 747-8 or 380. To many people on board. More people, less service, less heads. Give me the 320/737.

  • GE's new engine is like a lego set... Just take it apart and replace it when damaged... lols

  • It`s only a history aircraft from yesterday, design from 1968 and now is on total end . Remember all ex PanAm and TWA Maintenance Staff - during 1970 to 1973 problems after problems with JT9 engine , the Fuel system - the Autopilot system . Many Boeing worker , ex former Pizza or Hamburger engineer on productionline.

  • @Linkwizzard The old fuselage design you criticize is a proven workhorse, plus improved operating efficiencies and reliability come from the wing design and engines, both of which have been redesigned from the ground up for amazingly low seat-mile costs. Plus airlines know that the 747 is reliable, will fit existing airports and wont have empty seats on routes that serve 467 customers instead of 555.

Airliner success is not based on what enthusasts like. Airlines operate these things.

  • Boeing>Airbus!

  • thanks for the vid dude

  • I like flying boeing 747-8 international better than a380

  • i luv both aircrafts but i like the Airbus A380 better than the Boeing 747, in my opinion, both aircrafts are beautiful

  • fail.. these rollout colors arent in service anymore, they have a new rollout color wich is pink and orange mixed together and it looks red!

  • 747 is not even as big as the a380 so is wouldn't be reasonable to compare both..

boeing lovers love boeing and airbus lovers luv airbus..personal choice

  • @hawkboy000 stupid ass, the 747-800 as longer as the a380, so shut up

  • @Joelbest1 lool dumbass longer is not bigger...retard..a380 is wider n taller soo go do ur research

  • @Joelbest1 stupid ass A380 is longer than 747-8 and bigger and taller so get your fucking facts right and shut the fuck up!!!

  • @ghettoperson257 HEY DUMBASS!, 747-8 is longer and smaller than a380. let me repeat that, 747-8 IS FUCKING LONGER AND FUCKING SMALLER THAN A380. FUCK!

  • @ghettoperson257 Joel your A380-Delay-Liner is a POS piece of shit with two wings + has no sales this year compared to Boeing 747-8I 117 sales in 5 months. Your precious A350 is 6 Billion Euros in debt + only 200 sales in 9 years with only 51 delivered. The 747-8I is out selling A350 + every sale it makes is nail in the A380 coffin. B747-8I with GE Nexgen engines have more use 20% less fuel + very quiet + your A350 is another delay liner till 2017 it has no engine your precious A380 is fucked.

  • So this engine rejects unnecessary objects and only accepts air? So basically if a bird gets sucked it, the engine will spit it back out? How would this work? Same as small rocks?

  • good for you! lol good engineering in both

  • Someone said: 'If it ain't Boeing Im not goin' "

  • why the**** that every single video about plane, always have that comment war about airbus and boeing?? GEEZ!!

apple and orange! both are fruits but different taste!

  • If it's not Boeing, I ain't going.

  • the A380 engines has more thrust than the 747 engines.

  • @hyperzebre2001 the 747-8 is more efficient

  • @AdverbAdjective how about noise pollution

  • @hyperzebre2001 don't blame airbus, blame rolls royce

  • Hi, where i can download this video?

  • @iogaro

For a lot of Youtube videos - if you have realplayer installed you can directly download the video in .flv format.

  • @iogaro install realplayer, put your cursor on the screen and download it...

  • The ridges you refer to are technically known as "scallops" (cf. "scalloping"), and they create laminar air flow as the air from around the engine cowling mixes with fan-compressor air; result=quieter, more efficient thrust. The idea came from NATURE--notice the "scalloping" of the feathers on the posterior side of a bird's outstretched wings.

  • Why does the engine have that ridged cover on the outside?

I don't know which is better, but the 747-8 looks 100x better than the A380.

  • It's kind of funny. The same company that makes light bulbs and refrigerators makes jet engines for intercontinental planes.

  • boeing + airbus combined = AMAZING

  • @IHI4ZZx lol good idea

  • Not as efficient as the Rolls Royce Trent XWB! Airbus rejected this engine for the A-350 becasue it didnt meet efficiency standads.

Plus RR's titanium fan blades are lighter and significantly stronger that carbon fibre ones

A-380 is bigger and more efficient than 747-8, however I do agree the 747-8 is alot more better looking.

Typical european ugly but practical and efficient, typical american beatiful but not so good at doing the job

  • @05u16hep Lol bullshit you cant say that about cars. European cars beat American cars any day!

  • @TheWarPlanet Only recently. Of cource European cars have always been 100X better than american cars, american cars are heaps of shit, but European cars went bland from 1980-2005 but now they look amazing especially Fords (Ford Of Europe)

  • Comment removed

  • @05u16hep Well to start this off The 747-8 is more fuel efficient then the A350 and AIrbus didn't reject the Engine GE rejected them due to a contract with Boeing . The 747-8 is not going against the A380 a whole new plane is (Boeing Yellowstone Project 3) and RR blades are heavier then carbon fibers making the engine even more lighter. The A350 is gonna be out dated by the time it comes out i mean come on the engine isn't even built and The plane isn't even built

  • @ikolkyo967 Well to start off, as you said the A350 hasn't been built yet so how do you know the 747-8 is more efficient when A350 hasnt even flown? And the engine has actually been built and is in testing; the Trent XWB.

And, to put it into perspective, a RR powered 777 is 2 tonnes lighter than a GE-90 powered one

  • @05u16hep what i meant is the 747-8 is more fuel efficient the A380 the GE-90 is more fuel efficient and has more power then the RR really doesn't matter about weight

  • @ikolkyo967 and dont forget the boeing 777 can also take off with one engine. while the ab a380 has engine problems.

  • @z34gtpz28 Ikr

  • BOEING is definitely better than AIRBUS with an excellent partnership with GE AIRCRAFT ENGINEERING im sure they will be a force in the future of aviation...long range with the best fuel efficiency...LONG LIVE BOEING & GE

  • I totally organismed 8x when i saw this

  • I don`t get the explanation of how the engines low emission works

  • 747-8 is better than a380.

  • depend on cost how much passenger can it take

i like the 747 but the A-380 is in the top

  • boeing 747-8 is way better than a380(this is my personal feeling)

  • @cycc1111 AGREED!

  • @cycc1111

maybe it's better but not bigger

  • @cycc1111 Well hell yes it is.

The A380 is like a big bulky ugly elephant, i find it to be very ugly, the 748 is a gorgeous, sleek beautiful aircraft, as Boeing has always had.

And frankly, i don't trust the A380, i will always trust Boeing.

  • @biggestMetallicAfan so true lol

  • @cycc1111 Whether it's better capability wise of course is debatable. But what's sure is that the 747-8 is 100 times BETTER LOOKING that the A380. One is the the handsomest of all 747s, the other is THE ugliest from Airbus, or for that matter any planemaker. No contest.

  • @cycc1111 I agree!! Faraway airlines would trust Boeing more since they develop the safest planes. But some airlines would take the A380 since it has more capacity which would help them alot. If I had a big airline I'd probably have to take some A380 to help me. Well anyways here is the sad side of the story. The Boeing 747 family(Which includes the 747-8.)is no longer since the A380 family is taking it's place. The 747s are being scrapped at an incredible rate. The 747s will eventually retire.

  • @cycc1111 "if it aint boeing iam not going...'

  • @luuko656 I believe it's "If it ain't Boeing, I ain't going."

  • @kinsley2108 Does it matter?

  • @luuko656 Absolutely.

  • No beauty contest between the 747-8 and A380. One is Nicole Kidman. The other is Cyndi Lauper. Which is which? If you need to ask, you have no sense of aesthetics.

  • i like the 747-800 moer than the a380

  • @ncolinco the boing 747 is the most sexy aircraft ever made

  • @ncolinco Noo Sry the A380 is the best Thumbs up guys :D

  • @ncolinco me too !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ncolinco And we will no longer see them but just A380s. The 747-100 and the 747-200 have already retired. The 747-300 and the 747-400 are being scrapped and being replaced with the A380s. I wish airlines had 747s more. But anyways, long live the 747s!!!

  • @nickelfilling Its doom time for Airbus A380. Boeing has 117 Firm Sales for the 747-8I + the Boeing 787 will delivered this August. Did U hear Boeing is going to build 16 787's per month while the A350-Delay-Liner has no engine. Gee its seem there are GE Nexgen engines in the cuboard for Airbus + Airbus stock dropped again cuz the A380-Delay-Liner has made no sales this year. Tsk,Boeing will celebrate when Airbus cancels its White Elephant A380-Delay-Liner. Airbus A380 is POS with 2 wings.

  • @LottoWinner999 I say the 747-8 is a boring failure, the a350 is not only going to own the 787 but the 777. 1 Airbus for 2 boeings gone. If the a350 has no engines and gets 1 in the future soon it would mean it has a more high tech engine than the 787. Kudos to us and p.s when will the 787 delay liner come into service? Its been a good old 10 years now and trust me duke nukem is more valuable than a 787 delay liner now. Plus this GE shit is no good for 5 years later or so

  • @averredude101 Airbus has sold a mere 200 A380s and only delivered 51 A380s in 10 years + AB has to sell 500 to break even. There are 758 747-400s in service + another 800 various 747s flying so about their 1500 in use + another 1000 for cargo. The A380 is going broke + six billion Euros in debt + 2 1/2 delay + at that rate they will cancel A380 which can drag Airbus into Bankruptcy. The B787 starts delivery in August-September + GE keep improving their engines + AB can't have any, tsk, tsk!

  • @averredude101 GE is the leader in Jet Engines + to maintain their leadership there always upgrading their technology + GE Nexgen Jet engines are 10 years ahead of RR. in 1972 All Airbus had to do was buy Pratt & Whitney + GE engines that were paid for by Boeing. Boeing co-partnered with GE Nexgen + C-90 with 500 million USD. AB is fucked cuz they don't have an engine for A350-Delay-Liner + have to pay 2ND rate RR to develop a new engine that will be 5 to 10 years build + test + to late for A350

  • @LottoWinner999 no GE is not!!! RR is doing much better than GE

  • @averredude101 Thats why RR Trent Engine Explode and leak oil, now we know why RR has problems!

  • @LottoWinner999 RR have already fixed that problem, now GE has the problem for being the most inefficient engine maker in the world. Kudos to RR

  • @averredude101 That's why their being sued for over 100 million from Qantas, as well as SIA having a trent 900 have an uncontained IP turbine disc today. RR seriously is a great company, but their engines are shit. Ask any operator who has the RB211's. Exploding turbine discs are the norm. In fact, RR has more uncontained failures than anyone else. Maybe you should read a little more dude.

  • @blampa And maybe u should understand that lottoloser is an absolute idiot and just lies about everything.

I hope your not thinking his facts are true. Pm me and Ill lecture you

  • @averredude101 Got arrogance? You'll lecture me huh? Buddy, I write columns for one of the worlds biggest online aviation websites and you'll lecture me? I base my conclusions on information directed to me and fact, not supposition. Here's a few facts; EADS who own airbus are actively discussing canning the loss leader A380 because it's break even point has shifted thanks to the delays and compensation paid from 250 up to 538. It has orders for 236 planes only; it won't ever turn a profit.

  • @blampa Wow whatever the website is it must be shit and unreliable. To much favoritism. The A380 is just at the beginning of a very successful career. Boeing are staying with small planes. Nowdays more and more LCC airlines are starting and some ordered the a380 as a super high density low cost flyer. The a380 is perfect in the economically shit world. Take business studies you dumbass bias bitch

  • @averredude101

so are you saying the 747-8 should be classified as a small plane???

  • @mojame100 no

  • @averredude101

Well ok then, I would say it large enough, but yeah; they could have made the width a bit wider to 20'10"

  • @averredude101 Compared to the 787 with over 827 orders and options for 600 odd more this plane is the most successful in aviation history. As for the 747-8, isn't it funny that companies like Emirates cancelled their order for the A380-800F only to order their new freighters through Boeing with the 747-8F? Face it, EADS have been caught out whilst they panned point to point AC like the 787 over the megaflop A380, only to be forced to build something similar with the A350. Airbus=fail.

  • @blampa wow your just like lottoloser, pulling facts out of your arse. Its bad enough I ve got to deal with him so bugger off and tell bullshit to someone else

  • @averredude101 You're a fucken moron. Look up the orders published at both Airbus and Boeing, facts don't lie.

You can research everything I've proffered and find absolute proof. Alas I suspect however that you're too lazy and too much of a short dicked fan of EADS to even bother entertaining the notion that you're wrong. Go fuck your dad in the ass you little fagboy.

  • @blampa Why don`t you just bugger off like I told you to. Guess what? Delta is going to ditch the 737 for the a320neo. Boeing is not going to be able to fight back for 737 orders

  • @averredude101 No matter U do or say the Boeing 787 is the most advance Airliner in the world and they delivered 3 in July to ANA. A350 has no engine cuz Airbus stole engines Boeing paid for + that has stopped with exclusivity contract with GE for Nexgen + C-90 engines. GE + Pratt & Whitney were paid by Boeing to develop their engines for 747, 737s + other models. Now AB has to pay for their own jet engines which they know nothing about so Airbus is fucked cuz they have no engine of their own.

  • @LottoWinner999 i said once the a350 is in service boeing will look outdated cause the 787 is old technology by the time its the scheduled release for the first a350

  • @nickelfilling1 Thats not entirely true, there are even a few -100 in service today with cargo operators. many of the -400 will also go the same way. In short we are still going to see these things for a long time, even if they completely stopped making them, which they aren't. In fact, its safe to say that the 747 will be longest serving airliner in history, even more than the DC-3.

  • @youngfart40 Thanks for the fact! When I read a history of the 747 on answers.com it said that the 747-100s and the 747-200s have already retired. And yes, if Boeing stopped making 747s than we would still see alot of them since there is probably 1,000+ 747s in the world. I heard the 747 would be developed into the Boeing Yellowstone Project. Love the 747!! All for now. See ya!

  • i like the 747-800 more tham the a380....

  • That engine looks amazing, you can really appreciate how far modern technology has come seeing this.

  • Removal propulsor module. Radical!

  • wheres the ketchup dispenser?

  • a what

  • @sinduda lol

  • nice engine but i still like Rolls Royce any day. Its because they are made just about 30minutes away from my house lol.

  • i wish I had this guys voice.

  • Does anyone know whos voice it is? It sounds exactly like Art Bell.

  • ge is beyter than rr

  • i just like the whine of the rr's on the 747s

  • whatever happened to pratt&whitney the greatest engine makers of all time? They dont seem to be a part of the big engine market anymore.

  • they are. They do it for military and have a small share in passenger jets.

  • WOW THAT IS SO COOL!!!!!

  • Actually the fan blade design of the RR trent 1000 was only capied from the GE 90 engine of the Boeing 777 who copied in the first place??...

    huh??..........

Even though both engines are good but the difference of the is the RR vibrates more than a GE engine......

And I don't see signs that boeing 747-8 copied a designs from airbus!... Who copies a super sized plane anyway??.......

  • Will the Trent 1000 be available on the new 747?

  • Nope Only GE NX 2-B will be used for the new boeing 747-8... Its is the upgraded version of the GE NX...

  • This is a copy of a Rolls Royce Trent 1000, its always the way: Rolls Royce develops an engine, GE copies it. RR developed the noise reduction pattern on the cowling as seen on the latest GE engines

  • I think GE developed the first high-bypass turbofan.

  • yeah fuk GE N RR

  • @05u16hep

    GE always copies RR.

  • @beavertown2006 how? this is GE's design, they came up with it on their own

  • Boeing has to do this to keep up with compitition of A380...I mean the 747-8 looks like a A380 in a 747.. Both are awsome planes, but boeing is still cutting edge in my opinion!

  • wooo this engine rocks !!!

any idea when the first 747-8 will be deliver ?

  • 2010 for the freighter version and 2011 for the passenger version

  • Okay, thanks for that !!!

  • And 2009 for first flight! (HOPEFULLY!)

  • sweet

  • cool
