  • One of my fav Cale songs. As good nas anything Lou could do, but Lou has more up his sleeve.

  • @streethassled in which terms?

  • segway between 60's underground and pogo dancing genres...

  • Wow, that's amazing! I was at this concert ..i lived just opposite the Crystal Palace grounds and saw most of the shows from 1971 onwards. Brilliant shows for just a few pounds sterling. Freddie King was the best around July 1976.

This must've been done during Chris Speddings "Motorbiking" era. It's a shame it's brief but it isn't "ForaRide's" fault.

  • oh no, its realy shit to cut off there

but anywhere..... its not on you thanks for posting

  • You can't cut off the song there. You can't fucking cut off the song THERE!

  • @mqduck just FYI:

This is how it was televised. After the cut here the end titles of the programme follow, which I cut out!

If you had clicked onto my account you could´ve easely notice that I´m a dedicated Cale follower. I´d be the last person on earth to cut out any Cale footage!

So next time around how about asking questions first instead of labeling other people as dickheads!

  • great footage. Thanks for uploading

  • @ForARide: Thanks ; )

  • Excellent footage. Looks like it's John Cale's appearance at the 1975 Crystal Palace Garden Party (full line-up below).

    CRYSTAL PALACE GARDEN PARTY-8.

    June 7 1975.

Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel, Steeleye Span, Billy Cobham, John Cale , Jack Bruce Band with Carla Bley and Mick Taylor .

  • @MrHiderN

    great information, cheers!

  • very good song and great guitar by chris spedding

  • April or May 1975 "Slow Dazzle" Tour, if I am not mistaken: John Cale plus Chris Spedding on guitar, Pat Donaldson on bass, Timi Donald on drums and Chris Thomas on keyboards

  • @Detroit1967

    many thanx for the info!

  • @Detroit1967 Crystal Palace June 1975; I was there

  • @ruddygore1: Lucky you...

  • This is good.

That polo or golf shirt or whatever he has on just kind of puts this as an odd scene.

  • momommascuba!

  • Yeah, like it takes guts to throw stones from a building. Wearing a Rangers-outfit in a Celtic-pub, that takes guts, or fucking your best friends wife while he's taking a shit.

Not throwing stones at unsuspecting passers by

  • lydon threw bricks at cars from the top of public housing buildings...;;-he had guts

  • Gorgeous Paranoya!

  • is everyone high on coke and weed or is it just cale and the guitarist, anyway a great clip but id like to see more, don't like that cutting off!

  • It´s good, AsphaltedLife, don´t be so critic!!

  • Sorry mate, but that´s how it was televised.

Maybe next life around we´ll get a full version, and Cale will be recognized as the Beethoven of our times.

  • allright, I thought it was excellent just so short just didn't get the whole fix, but ForARide can't help that, but I truly thank you for the clip ForARide, Fear Is a man's best friend... or worst enemy

  • @ForARide Actually, even though this part may have been televised as so, there's actually another video I found on youtube that has the full version. The only reason I think why the last part was cut out, because whoever sponsered this performance thought it was too vulger to include the last part. For those curious, look up the video with the end part. It's sick! :) He screams and yells and doesn't care about people thinking that his tantrum is vulger. He just DOES IT!

  • most great.Peter,London.x

  • Hi Peter. Yes, he is really great. Love John Cale!

  • his work ages well,it seems to mature, his celtic soul shines,im half Scots/Irish,and we are deep feeling people and John Cale is a superb artist that i luv more with each listen!.x

  • That´s true!!!!!

  • I've always loved this song and love the work of both Chris Spedding and John Cale, respectively speaking.

This is great footage of a rather 'controlled' performance of a manic song.

  • Thanks for posting this... where does this foootage come from? Like the Buffalo Ballet clip, the title on screen is wrong...

  • does any else think he sounds a bit like Morrison man

  • Jim Morrison stole his look

  • brilliant never thought i'd see footage of cale from that era, though it has to be said, he's less manic than i'd have expected.

  • John takes megacraps all over Lou.

  • His words are a universal truth. No one can say different.

  • thanx for this

  • Cale looks . . . almost . . . healthy.

  • John cale, you are an unheard of brilliant lyricist, a fuckin top tune, go on mr. cale, Top, Top, Top, top top top, and fuckin top, cause im scared!!!!!!!

  • Freak me.

    Spedding.

    Flawless.

  • any more from this show? this footage is priceless!!!

  • Sorry folks, but that´s all!

  • If only I´d know, I got it quite accidental.

Must have been early 90´ies, I was zapping through the programmes and all of a sudden my all time hero John Cale is on the box. By the time I found an empty video tape, the two Cale songs were over but thank God the show was repeated and I was able to record it.

As you´ll notice the end is cut off but that´s how it was transmitted

  • this is great! what's the source for these clips? looks like a compilation show, but would love to see all of the Cale gig.

  • this is not early 90's. It was mid 70's

  • thank you for misreading the comments twice!! You meant to reply to ForARide, not me. And, I think ForARide is saying that he recorded the clip from a mid-90s broadcast, not that the performance is mid-90s... get a clue!
