it's rebuilt with only 20,000 miles and I keep up on the maintance other then that, keeping my foot out of the pedal helps too. ; ) As for the carb I'm running the holley truck avenger.

I get about 11mpg, you don't get horse power and torqe like this while still having good gas milage.

I fixed it recently, found out my alternator bracket was broken, have no idea how long it was like that.

they must like to break, cuz mine's broken, well cracked but its on the outside so it shouldn't mater. i think i might jus be not tightin the bolts to keep it in place

Ya you did! Those 6.9L IDI will run for every as long as you keep the boost below 10 psi, unless you have aftermarket head studs or lowered compression pistons.

Do you read Diesel Power mag? They have an 87 F-250 6.9L IDI called "Project 300". I think it could help with upgrades and future plans. Speaking of which what do you plan? Just curious, since you have some pretty narly (good) trail rigs!

Very nice.. should set off a few car alarms!! I put a fuel injected 460 from a '92 F350 in my '78 Bronco to replace the 400 and have tons of power, reliability and better MPG to boot.

I think we payed about $3,200 for the motor, transfercase and transmission. Found the motor already rebuilt sitting down at B&B auto parts

The bronco is very nice, But i must say i like the f250 because grandpa`s truck is a lot cleaner and sounds alot better  i have a 1979 Ford F250 460, 600 horse`s both trucks are classics

yeah, unfortunitly grandpas truck don't get out often, my grandpa was the original owner, now my dad has it and grandpa would kick our butts if we messed up that truck. Now Betsy, she's a camping/wheeling rig.

who needs a radio when you got that great sound! :) and may i say that f-250 is sweet! i really like the tutone red and white! but then again i have a soft spot for red and white tutones ;) and the bronco sits nice and tall compared to the rear wheel drive f-250, and one last thing, this is what they call a ford orchestra! :)
