  • we love marty stuart. marty will take over watseka illinois on july 2, 2011. the watseka theatre. wow.

  • Man, this is good stuff. Can you post "Angels Rock me to Sleep" completly? That would be fantastic!

  • Marty's a bit of a TV.

  • @eplafan

Perhaps you should re-read cntrycntry70's post again. He said that " 'Once A Day' was NOT the only hit that Connie has had." He never claimed that Connie chartered more than one # 1 hit. A little more reserach AND reader comprehension is in order.

  • Why all this hate aimed at Leroy Troy? Leroy performs in the traditional style of Jimmy Drifwood, Stringbean and Grand Pa Jones. Leroy Troy has been invited to perform at the John F. Kenney of the Perdorming Arts where he got a standing ovation. Check out his "Get Along Little Yearlings We're Going To Texas."

  • He is a little strange looking, Connie Smith who I love, well her voice is starting to falter. But they all stand for goodness so all is over looked.

  • Brenda Lee was never the calibre of Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn or Connie Smith.. She is in the CMHF and she never had a #1 country hit. Cudos to Connie.

  • Oh, REAL country music. I thought country music was only about telling you how cool your pickup was and how all the girls want to sleep with you.

  • Geezus, I didn't even know Marty Stuart had a TV show. I hope DVDs are made available. I don't get the show out in Sacramento, CA even though we have a deep Western Swing heritage out here.

  • I had never seen any of Marty's show so this is a treat. He and the band look terrific. I do so like the outfits that so many artists have worn throughout the years. They look professional and really classy. As far as the name of his band "The Superlatives" I wonder why he picked that for a country band. It sounds more like a band in the days of "The Ink Spots" and Frankie Vallie - to me anyway - but it's different.

so it's interesting. Thank you for posting. - Paula

  • Marty Stuart is sooooo silly looking. Connie Smith - is so-so, but I get so tired of hearing her sing the only #1 hit she had, "once a day" ... enough already, Connie. That banjo player is just ... well .... pathetic? Oh, and NOT funny!

  • Sorry, to tell you that Connie Smith is one of the best Country Music singers that has ever graced the stage of the Grand Ole Opry, and "Once a Day" is NOT the only hit Connie has had. A little research before comments should have been done....

  • I beg to differ, "Once a Day" IS, in fact, THE only #1 record Connie Smith ever charted. She was NEVER a star of the same calibur as Tammy Wynette, Lynn Anderson, Loretta Lynn, etc. Lynn Anderson could/can out-sing this woman any day of the week .. ans SHE was a huge country star in the '70s.

  • I think Martys show is great....The only negative is the banjo player that tries to act like a hillbilly...he just comes across unfunny and fake...sorry...

  • I love the show, but I agree with you about Leroy Troy. I'm sure he has a place, but it's not on a great tv show like this. Marty is trying to be too much like Porter Wagoner by having him on the show. He should forego that part and just have another singing guest.

  • Turbletts ..I have to defend Leroy thats really who he is...I worked with him 4 years on the General Jackson Show boat back in the 90's. He's great guy & musician. Leroy is the real deal .

  • The Telecaster Marty's playing used to belong to the great Clarence White. What a talent.

  • Man, I wish this show was on in my area...it looks like straight-up old school country music.

  • Marty defines what true country music is. Forget the Tim McGraws and Carrie Underwoods of the world. This man is country...true country.

  • If true country means cross-dressing like an old whore.

  • Marty seemed to have a few in him tonight...

  • Please keep posting segments from this show. This is fantastic.

  • I watched this show for the first time tonight while visiting family. My cable company doesn't carry this channel and now I am angry about. It's a great show and Marty is a great talent...as is everyone else one the show.

  • I love the new Marty Stuart show on RFD, love Connie, but I could do without the banjo playing comedien. This is the only show that I know of that is classic country, and Marty should have more of the older singers, and leave out the comedy. Just because it's country, doesn't mean it has to be silly. Hee Haw it ain't. I'll put up with it though, just to see Marty and Connie, and their guests.

  • I, too, wish I had the RFD channel. I have cable but before we switched to cable, we had the channel on the satellite dish. now, I should say that back when we had the RFD channel it didn't feature nearly as much country music-related shows as it does now. the only country-oriented shows they aired back when we had RFD was Billy Walker's TV show and the one from the Wilburn Brothers and maybe Porter's show. Sandwiched between this were a lot of locally produced rural programs at farms.

  • Marty is so wonderful. I'm so happy we can see him here on the tube! He is the best!

  • BTW, I strongly believe Marty and the band should film a show(s) and put out a live concert DVD so people can hear (and see) just how cool and tight these guys are. I'd buy two. Marty, if you're reading this is this something you've considered? Part of the DVD could be a full concert, the other could show your "Sparkle & Twang" collection for those who couldn't make it to Nashville or Cleveland to see it in person (I saw it last October in Nashville and was floored).

    Just an idea...

  • Marty Stuart and the Fabulous Superlatives are the best things to happen to country music in AGES. I've seen them live about 3-4 times the past several years and each show is more enjoyable than the one before. It's like going to school and learning about American music: hillbilly, rockabilly, bluegrass, gospel, R&B, honky-tonk and blues.

I don't get this RDF network on my cable system here, but I'd give just about anything to see their "Freight Train Boogie" in its entirety. It sounds awesome!

  • I will try to get FTB posted as a full song soon. If you don't see it soon, bug me

  • Hi, md. Consider yourself "bugged". Haha.

J/k. Whenever you can get to it, of course...

  • J.SKY KING SAYS ONCE AGAIN MARTY STUART SAVES COUNTRY MUSIC'S SOUL!! keep on pilgrim!

  • I can't get RFD-TV on my cable network so please keep posting these show clips.

    Thanks,

    Merle

  • I was lucky enough to attend a show taping this week--it was a blast. It's gonna be a great show!

  • Hey Marty,

    Your show rocks!!!

    Love, James - the Deadlies
