  • The most influential guitarist and blues musician of all time. Period.

  • What is most compelling is the fact that Robert Johnson is a black man. I bet that pisses off tons of white folk, even still to this day!

  • @xxphylthyxphylxx Ever heard of Johnny Winter..lol no disrespect..I truly think he captured Robert Johnson quite well! But with his own stamp respectfully..songs like Dallas, Bladie Mae,as well as Robert Johnson standards When you got a good friend,Stones in my pathway etc.without Johnny I might never have Found Robert or the blues and I'm sure it's visa versa for many.. I LOVE ROBERT JOHNSON!

  • Shut the fuck up and just listen.

  • @InternetRagePlea I was listening to Robert Johnson while you were still shitting yellow ! Grow up and you listen !

  • @thyme4dave ...You're one of the people I was telling to be quiet, too, old-timer. Get over yourself and enjoy it if you love it so much.

  • What a crock of shit. What is it that Robert is playing on this song ? Nothing that any good experinced guitar player could do !

  • @thyme4dave u know nothing. look up eric clapton trying to play some of his songs. Clapton said it took him ages to be even half decent at the stuff Jhonson does

  • @thyme4dave OK then lets see you do it mate, i dare say you'd give up before the second bar. I've been playing for 50yrs now, and still this form of Johnson's playing is some of the most complex around today.

  • This may be the most powerful song ever recorded. It cuts right to the soul. It's an honest and stark portrayal of shame and regret so pure that no one with half a brain could deny it's impact.

  • i have stones in my passway

  • The person that disliked this deserves to lose their hearing. Not even joking.

  • I Love this song

  • 100th birthday of Mr. Johnson! He is definitely the man who changed the course of modern music!

  • The best blues song !

  • You are nuts. Their is no one alive who can play guitar solo/rhythym at same time.. Its obvious these so called guitarist who are saying his playing is rough , must be awefull guitarists. I challenge any of you to play any of his songs all the way thru. Clapton has to employ a 2nd guitarist to even come close to Johnsons sound. Johnson plays the most elegant blues of anyone of any era. Theirs good reason clapton and others looked up to him, theirs nothing rough bout his playing. Soulful as hell

  • @bluessman0925 I don't get it. I'm a guitarist and a damn good one. I looked at the tabs for Sweet Home Chicago in this months Guitar World, and the infamous 3rd hand is mostly open strings in between the 5th-6th-7th power chords. It's really not that difficult to play. Don't get me wrong, to guy was authentic and had a unique and genuine style, but imo its the Emperor's new clothes. He's certainly influential but how much of these comments, like on most of Youtube, are based on popular opinion?

  • @RewindBloomington I think people get too stuck on the guitar play. Sure he could make an acoustic guitar do whatever he wanted to do when he wanted it to do it, but don't forget that he played complex rhythms and sang at the same time in a emotional and haunting style. Plus he often played rhythm in one time signature and sang in another all without missing a beat. He was a complete musician who wrote songs that people still cover to this day. It wasn't mystical or magic, but it was talent.

  • @bluessman0925

Clapton actually plays this song by himself as well as other Johnson songs.

  • @bluessman0925 The most telling part of the legend for me is that he strolls into the studio rips off 20 or 30 songs with only one take. I mean could you find some hotshot off the street today to hook up to Pro Tools and pull that off...I doubt it within 20 minutes you would throw the average guy out on the street and pay him not to come back.

  • @bluessman0925 well chet atkins can play two different songs once or lead and rythym at the same time but thats not blues soooo

  • johnson gets credit as a guitar player but the fact is his guitar playing is as rough as hell and thats whats so great about him. there is nothin polished about his playin and this was lost on the stones, clapton, jack white etc. he rarely plays a polished lick cept at the very end.

  • ALADDIN GEE --Love dis

  • The line in this song "I have a bird that whistles and I have birds that sing" was used in Led Zeppelin's rendition of You Shook Me.

  • @omersy92 yeah its in lots of songs. Bob dylans Corina Corina is one. heard it used many times tho. Zepp got famous from alot of tunes from Willie Dixon and other blues artists. cheers! yeah Zep!

  • KING F ROCk n ROLL

  • @lusiisyr He is a delta blues guitarist dipshit

  • @TheBestGuitarSoloEVR I know he is a deltablues guitarist idiot

  • The King of Blues!

  • Lester Young and Robert Johnson were both born in 1911.They both have so much in common.

  • I know an amazing musician that does R.J. some great justice! He does the rhythm, blues, and melodically sings with comparable heart and soul! It's just sad that J.R. hasn't posted any of his riffs! I guess my point is in response to one of the comments... "You can do anything, if you want to badly enough, just practice, practice, practice!"

  • wonderful....

"we're all black, when the lights go out..."- snoop dogg. (i hate his music, but i LOVE the BLues)

    this was incredible

  • such a great tune..! Seems very appropriate... having Kidney Stones ! !

  • Same guitar part as Terraplane Blues and Milkcow Calf Blues.

  • Hey, I just noticed the guitar part is the same as on Johnson's "Terraplane Blues". Nifty.

  • what tuning is this?

  • @mcfarmland

Open G. I don't suggest trying to learn it though. The rhythm's pretty much impossible to play guitar and sing at the same time.

  • @mcfarmland Hey dude ,,its open "A" tuning..I,ve been doin it for months now .Its great fun with slide,,,KDOG

  • one of Johnson's masterpieces

  • Robert Johnson really is the king of the delta blues!

  • thanks for posting this, I love this song
