@supra619 In theory yes. BaseCamp support import of .KLM file directly. So import into BaseCamp then upload to your Oregon 450.... But in reality BaseCamp is a bit buggy in importing, sometimes it error out without telling you why.... But if you are determine enough, you should be able to do it eventually (with some text editing of the .KML file)
My Oregon 450 says "Image too big" and does not load the custom map. Apparently Oregon will not take more than 1024x1024 size JPG images within the KMZ. Any video instructions on how to use MAPC2MAPC or other tools to deal with this limitation would be greatly appreciated.
You have to save as "kmz". The file has to be placed within ?:\garmin\CustomMap\ (you have to create the folder) "?:" is the drive name of the garmin device.
dear frnd thank u very much it served my very purpose, as i have to demarcate some plots on the ground on urgent basis using garmin oregon 550

This is a complicated way. It is easier to use the Russian program SAS Planet.

When "save place as" I can't save as jpg ... only kmz or kml . Placing the kmz file on the Garmin gave me no results.

I was able to use Trekbuddy to add the OpenCycle map to my Oregon. I also added the OpenStreetMap for the GVRD
I recommend the Vancouver/Whistler city explorer - that will enable routing for driving directions. It's a 10 dollar map at Garmin.
The Backcountry Mapbook sells a SD card with a BC wide map for hiking.
