Actually, CBS staff announcer Gaylord Avery replaced Jack Lescoulie in the syndicated version of the filmed "HONEYMOONERS" opening title. Johnny Olsen became Jackie's announcer in the second phase of his variety show (1962-'70), including the Miami Beach telecasts from 1964 on.
And Jack worked on both "THE TODAY SHOW" and "THE JACKIE GLEASON SHOW" (on two different networks) because Jackie wanted him as his chief announcer when he began on CBS in 1952 [they were good friends, and Lescoulie was Buick's spokesman on "THE BUICK-BERLE SHOW" in its 1954-'55 season]. The network insisted Gleason audition other announcers, and he said, "All right, I'll listen to 'em. But when they're finished, Jack Lescoulie gets the job".
The syndicated version of the opening title is similar to the one used during the second half of the 1955-'56 season [January-June], with two exceptions: CBS announcer Gaylord Avery is heard instead of Jack Lescoulie, and the portion towards the end where the moon "morphs" into a Buick steering wheel {"Brought to you by....YOUR BUICK DEALER! And away we go...!"}, cross-fading into a tire attached to a Buick gliding down an open road, was omitted.
This was the opening title, as orignally seen during the first three months of the "Classic 39" filmed series [October-December 1955], with Jack Lescoulie, Gleason's announcer (and Buick's spokesman in their commercials during the program), introducing the show and its sponsor.
@fromthesidelines The legendary Jack Lescoulie was one of the early hosts of The Today Show, and in the early 1960's, hosted a children's television program called '1-2-3-Go', assisted by a young boy who in the succeeding decade would wax homespun. Name that young actor. Good luck and....good night.
This has the same font that Gleason used on the opening and closing credits of his variety show. Also note the distinctive, quasi 3D use of the way the actors' names come across the screen

@fromthesidelines Fascinating...of course, Johnny Olson did the announcing on the syndicated version.
