I kinda hope people aren't really listening to this too much. It's a nice helper but it's not 100% and you should definitely look into the rotation more than -JUST- this video. S-priesting is -not- about moving. Dot class or not, you should move only when you need to. Mind Flay is very important. The made the Shadowy Apparitions the way they are -IN CASE- you have to move. You shouldn't just run around as much as you can. ;)

That rotation is still valid however you want to use mind blast whenever its up to keep empowered shadow up. That increases your dps much more than this rotation it is tested and proven. Thumbs up so everyone can see this!

i agree wit hthe fact that u should use mind spike when u have dots on the target, but when u doig your burst, mind spike has helped me max my burst quiet well.

i start with 3 mind spikes then lead with dots (VP, SWP, DP) then do mind flay 2 times till i get arch proc to 5 then pop that and use mind blast. at this point im already at 22k dps with a ilvl 359.

this my work for some and it may also not work depending on your gear setup. =)

@mattsayswaht i think the rotaion is roughly like this: Vampiric touch, devouring plague, shadow word pain, mind flay(till you get dark evangelism to 5 stack, then dark archangel), mind blast when u get 3 shadow orbs, and u can pop your shadowfiend anytime u want but always keep it on cd as MatthewMozart14 told.

For any of you looking for a good timer, its DoTimer. I'd reccommend looking it up on google if you cannot find it on Curse. Its a great addon for any DoT class, and HoTs, so it works with every DoT and manages Buffs.

1. Apparations are a fillin for when you're moving and can't get a cast off. No need to force em.

2. You let your VT fall a few times, that's a no no.

3. You need to use Archangel, and Shadowfiend EVERYTIME they're up.

4. Glyph of Shadow Word: Death in a PvE situation is only useful about 5% of the time, it's a PvP glygh do away with it.

5. Use a macro for your MF "/cast Mind Flay [nochannel]" to prevent clipping it.

My current Gear lvl is 337, and i can do 12k no problem. dont switch to MS when archangel procs, it increases the damage your flay does as well. its STILL more mana effecient and damage effecient to stand there and flay. If i were to use MS for anything, it would be a nuke attack on adds, or 1 i used to finnish up a boss that was low on HP

i think you blew your DPS when you started moving. why would you stop channeling an attck that crits for about 7-8k per tick (21k to 24k total damage) that you know does damage for 1 that MIGHT proc for around 6? personally i find shadowy app. to be a nice bolster 2 my rotation on single targets, and i think its primarily meant for encounters where we have to move and we still need to do DPS

for anyone watching this that want to play shadow well. listen up. here are a number of things you can do to raise you dps.

1.he never used shadow fiend. open with that and it should always be on CD

2. dont use SWD mana is not an issue on any of the cata raid bosses.

3. get a dot tracker add on "MFclip" is a good one. this alone is like 2 or 3k dps if used correctly.

4. you never want to use mind blast unless you have 3 shadow orbs.

if he did all of these things he would have pulled around 10k

He did mention the shadowfiend; Mind blast dmg is greater than mind flay, even without orbs. Orb generation is so uncertain that you really dont want to wait with mind blast to get 3 orbs, cause then you may got stuck with skipping like 2 mind blast casts... This depends on amount of mastery ofc.

i like what you say but your wrong on one point, if you dot you cant use mind spike but if you mind flay for 5 hits and pop archangel the best rotation is spike x3 and mind blast for and instant cast, rinse repeat till your dark archangel wears off, redot and continue the fight if the mob is still standing

i use this rotation and top mages on heroic boss fights for about 15k dps

Mind Spike is only a good opener for 5 mans on nearly dead/halfdead trash. This is because the trash health is low and you want burst. Also 2x Mind Spike is all you need to make MindBlast instant. Unless your crit levels suck, x3 Mindsear is kinda overkill.

For a raid If you tried using MindSpike as an opener your Empower'd shadow would not get up quickly. This would lead to a terrible DPS loss in a boss encounter. Whats working for your 5 mans will not pan out in raids.
