  • 0:37 = brokeback mountain LOL

  • Such a great intro during a time when kids were kids and would interact with each other having fun getting dirty playing without judging others. Those were great times before cell phones, Internet and playstations changed everything. It was great being a kid in the 70's & 80's.

  • How did I get from base jumping to this? I should go to sleep...

  • i growed up watching sesame street ( Barrio Sesamo they translated it for the spanish tv) , i was born on 71, but our bloody Franco dictatorship will not allow this program to be passed on tv, i always did wonder what was so dangerous on that program than the bloody fascist didnt want the kids of that time to learn. Perhaps the freedom of the kids in other part of the world, or to see what we didnt have and we should have had? but when he died, the first thing it changed was all the tv chard

  • my god what memories, we had it in Spain tv too, i learned the numbers and ABC, better with this program than with the witch of a teacher i had in kinder... how many sandwiches i have eaten watching this just after school time...

  • @eazyduzitjacob I would have been lookin for the ketchup bottle and a thigh to try, as soon as that bird would stand still :P

  • @eazyduzitjacob you made me laugh sooooo loud lol

  • I like the scene from :38 to :41. Proof that society has no reason to be racist. The kids certainly aren't.

  • @ravensfan222008 it's cos kids are innocent

  • @ravensfan222008 "Society has no reason to be racist." Thanks for that revelation. You don't say?

  • I saw the very first show on TV my son was 3. We couldn't wait until it came on at 9:00. My son did not move from the TV until it was over. What a show and we continue to donate to help support every year. It must always be. My grandsons watched it and I hope their children. The kids were different like mine they got dirty they ran they played they loved the animals. Now kids stay inside on the computers and no fun with animals. Times are changing

  • Yawa sduolc eht gnipeews syad yunnus.

  • I think the PEOPLE have truly spoken here. I have viewed several different segments of old t.v. shows on here from The "A" Team to Gillagans Island, The MUMSTERS, Today's Special, Pinwheel and of course our most beloved SESAME STREET, PLUS others that we ALL LOVED as kids and STILL DO! And from what I know most kids love these show as well, my son does at least. So why doesn't the big media corps/company put them back on. I mean if its about ratings take a look at how many got on here.

  • o my god i grew up watchig one vcr of the show from the 80s i think *long sigh*

  • yep we had 2 channels this and I think shows like captin kangaroo, rocjket ship 7 and mr dress up were favorites, i never denied my sons imagination not =r would ideoprive any child of it to this day. To bad so many parents are so busy on computers, kids on vidio games and teens going to movies to enjoy imagination, like disnet=ys versionbs of movies and never having to grow up- now that's a childhood! Born in the eraly 60's

  • pure unadulterated kids's fun!less the tekkies!

  • I love YouTube. You brought my memories back.

  • This is the intro I remember from back in the day,,, oh the memories

  • Damn I want watch the rest of the show! Real kids.

  • When I first came to America I grew up watching this. 36 now

  • This was the BEST opening... I remember it well... :-)

  • y would anyone disliked this

  • No matter how hard you are now , you cant deny you were one of those millions of babies jumping with joy when this show came on and if you dindt see this one you prob catched the spanish version (plaza sesamo)

  • @JURYJOHMZOMBIE Yes, I watched both actually, but I remember back when I was in kindergarten we would discuss the latest episode we watched that morning XD

  • @jamocha101 ikr! it rlly was

  • There is a sesame street in my city, i went there and almost got mugged..

  • 0:18 i thought it wuz a happy place ;(

  • No Big Bird? Aw, 1998 theme was way better.

  • back when sesame street was actually good

now that stupid abby stepped in and ruined everything

  • If there is a God and there is a heaven and the creators of Sesame Street are not in it, then God must be on the pipe!

  • There are no gangs on sesame street niether.

  • I Hate Abby Cadabby She ruined the show

    R.I.P Good Sesame Street 1969- 2003

  • @mrfuzzyhead948 true that

  • miss this ...

  • ahhh...back when life was simple!!!

  • how come there are there 25 dislikes surely you know exactly what you're getting when you type in sesame street opening song

  • @brasil1970 totally true. im 11 but i still hold a near and dear space in my heart for sesame street. definitly for big bird, grover, snuffy, and of course, slimey the worm. i really want to go to sesame street! :(!!!

  • 25 people couldn't figure out how to get to sesame street

  • Pretty much one of the catchiest, coolest theme songs for any show ever made.

  • Wow,I miss those days... I always wonder how sick fucks in this world can harm or murder children. If you murder a child I think you should be sent to lab and let them do to you what they do to mice. Or be let loose somewhere and let some of these sociopathic old rich farts hunt you down. Let them pay like $100,000 for like a weekend and tax that shit. Better yet PPV it and let part of proceeds go to charity. I don't think my ideas are extreme in the least. Killing a child you have no rights.

  • HOLY SHIT @0:19 I would shit my pants if I was that little kid and that giant ass bird was staring at me

  • Comment removed

  • I'm 46 years old, and I still know all the words to this song by heart. These kids were like my friends back then. I saw them five days a week, 52 weeks a year. Thanks for the upload.

  • omg look at big bird, scary as fuck!!!!

  • bad nostalgia,,,,,,,,,

  • Sesame Street is where I grew up.

  • someone tell me how to get to sesame street

  • wow vcrs reall look like crap now huh

  • 0:19 shitbrix

  • i can remember watching this in black & white @ my grammies house when i was little, me and my cousins.. =)

  • @minititan100 not anymore, its all on YouTube now.

  • Who wrote the theme? Does anyone know?

  • @4841253 i have this theme on my playlist

  • i'm a new yorker. i've been one my entire life. i can remember back as far as 1983, maybe even 82. most of all, i sincerely believed there was an actual sesame street in the boroughs, as did most of my school mates. i think this is what was behind the boom in child abductions in the greater ny metro in the 80s. everyone was wondering off into the projects in search of sesame street, never to be seen or heard from again.

  • This looks so fun..being able to run around outside like that..what the heck happened to children?? I would absolutely love to go play outside care-free with some friends, but they're all, well, the 'new generation'..

  • The number at the start of each episode is simply the episode number. I'm 34 now. Live this. Happy days indeed!

  • im proud 2 say im 17 and i just sang along to every word

  • 25 people dont have a childhood

  • What does the 2178 part mean?

  • The new updated intro sucks!!!!

  • Ah, Sesame St. like I remember it. Funny thing, those kids in the above intro including the kids singing the theme are likely in their early to mid 40's by now. These days they are lawyers, pastors, dentists, teachers, truck drivers, police, engineers, IT pros, pilots, etc. In this economy, I'll bet some are out of work (like me) Maybe even 1 or 2 of them in prison, who knows?

  • I wanted someone to burn this song to a CD for me.

  • Wow, this is great to see this. Kids running around and having fun and enjoying themselves. Now, that drugs taken over the street. Kids can't do that anymore.

  • I love the little girl at 0:40. She's the one who goes "ABCDEF Cookie Monster" :-)

  • i don't know why but this song makes me sad.

  • @lawnmowerman7 it makes everyone sad! I can't figure it out - is it that things were just so much better then?

  • @lawnmowerman7

Omg it totally has always done that to me. I grew up on Sesame Street and was a very nostalgic and connected to the show as I grew up. When I hear the theme song, I almost always get teary eyed. I think it just makes me think of being a kid and the innocence and everything being OK back then.

  • @silvrjuli Me too. There are other versions as well, but that's "the name of that song!"

    :>

  • aww the voice of who sung this is cute! hope its not an adult lol, but sometimes I wish I was born in the 70's they were great shows like the brady bunch haha, but I grew up with the 1992-2004 end credits :)

  • I play this on a CD I made of all theme songe I like - this is number 25 :)

  • Damn I was a little shorty in the 70's. Now I'm a grandpa,time flies!

  • I wonder whatever happened to these kids? They are all around my age (39). This intro brought me back to PBS when I was 5-Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, then Sesame Street, then Electric Company. I'm really proud to be part of the very first generation of kids raised by Sesame Street!

  • so how do you get to sesame street

  • I love this theme song of Sesame Street!

  • i wanna go to sesame street :(

  • @AmericanIdolFan93 I wish I was there too):

  • @AmericanIdolFan93 me too

  • @AmericanIdolFan93 It goes on and on but the video never tells you were Sesame Street is :/

  • Just Like EVERYTHING Else...,

This Version Is WAY Better Than Today's!!!!

  • We just got 40 years of sunny days. I was freaked out by telly monster.

  • Looks like Jonestown, Guyana.

  • I'm 14: own video games, talk trash, listen to SOME music these days...and yet; there is something in me that lets me sit nice and quietly when i go on youtube or get my old VCR and watch this... Sesame and Oscar 4 life baby...

  • I miss the old unscripted opening credits. It has lost something now that they are worried about "safety" BORING!

  • sometimes i wish the world was as simple as in sesame street ;p

  • googlemaps

  • All my friends are from the street

    The SESAME street!

  • i can remember watching the old Sesame Street @ my grammies house, wasnt just me there..my cousins would be there also, and it was in black and white lol

  • good times

  • id be scared as fuck if some giant bird were to stare at me PERVERT!!!!!!

  • @tooty644 yeah, Big Bird looks like pedophile sneaking up in a bush.

  • wow these kids are like 50 years old now o.o

  • @BakedMrPotato no more like in there 40 s

  • cute exept for those little black mongrooolllsss lol

  • Everyones so lucky they were kids in the 80's and 70's, I was a kid from late '94 - late '00. :(

  • @LuigiandYoshiROCK1

Yes, we were. Those were the days, trust me.

  • Haven't heard that song in about 35 years, but was singing every word while video was playing. Timeless...

  • still confused as to why the little girl crying her eyes out was in the intro

  • Remember when Mr. Hooper died?

  • @luvmenow33 Wasn't that around 1983?

  • Man this reminds me how cool it was to be a Kid in the 80's Kids were kids. Now kids play call of duty 12 hours a day and swear

  • @unrooolie Not my little brother. He is being raised better than that. I'm 29 so I even help raise him when I visit him.

  • WHAT? they had this show in the 70's? :O omgggg I thought it only like started in the 90's or late 80's but yeeeshh although I love sesame street :)

  • @TheDellanator Sesame Street started in the late 60's or mid 60's I think.

  • @TheDellanator Yep. November 10, 1969.

  • @TheDellanator Yes, they had it in the '70s. If you were a kid then (I was) more than likely "Sesame Street" was a significant and unforgettable part of your childhood.

  • @snoops71 well sesame street still is. obviously i saw it when i was to, but yeah never knew they had it in the 70's! I cant believe it

  • Wow...Soooo many memories...I'm old! :(

  • i wonder how they made sure the kid actors didn't get scared of the puppets =/

  • I liked this one as a kid.

  • This montage reminds me of those christian Sponsor A Child foundation commercials. "For just 60 cents a day, you can provide little Carlos here food, shelter, health-care, a giant 10-foot talking canary."

  • I remember watching this intro as a kid, and thinking it was so cool to see those kids playing in the field (I live in the city). Hard believe all those kids here are now in their late 30's and 40's...gosh, I feel old! Anyways, Sesame Street has always been quality television for the young set.

  • FUCK YEAH!!! Dope ass times man!!

  • OMG I feel soooo old!! I remember a green monster character that lived in a 'trash can'!!?? This was early eighties. Is it still going?

  • @JimboUK71 yea

  • this is weird

  • I remember this one. I like the part with Big Bird talking.

  • Just hearing the intro takes me back to my childhood!! Thanks!!

  • I love this song.

  • what country was this filmed in?

  • i remeber this as a child of the 70's ... : )
