yeah badtars earthquake... terremoto bastardo. Abruzzo needs you italoamericans, americans.... watch my video response please, read the description. You'll find the official website where to find info for donations
hi, i'm from Pescara, abruzzo main town. It's a nice video, but there are two little mistakes on towns names, there are capEstrano and civitellA del tronto.
Thanks for the corrections! I know that I must have made the CapEstrano mistake because I am from Southern California, where the San Juan Capistrano has the Spanish spelling, but the materials I have has the spelling of CivitellA as CivitellO. I'll contact Italian tourism and get a clarification from them.
hello i'm an american from detroit. my grandparents emigrated from roccamorice in abruzzo in the 1920's. i plan on visiting very soon. how welcome are the americans of italian descent in abruzzo.
italoamericans always have a great welcome, especially in little villages like roccamorice. Look this way, in a certain sense they are still considered italians, they "made it", and people respect them. My great-grandfather too emigrated in usa, he worked for some years and when he come back here he cuold buy a new home and send my grandpa to school. And like him many and many emigrants used to do this, that's why people respect them.
@danpizzaforrealtho hi dan, i wasn't referring to pronunciation, i neves saw (and i'm not expecting to see) not just a foreign, but also a non abruzzese correctly prounoncing abruzzesi names, just like the notorious problems that italians have with english language.
At least i don't need to research italian pronunciation, since i'm italian.
And, btw, the town wich i assume you wanted to quote on your nickname is pizzoferrato :P
Abruzzo is really a nice region here in Italy. Travelled most of it last summer. Nice places and nice beaches! Lots of Mountains to cross with our old VW Van. Sulmona is wonderful with its yummy "Confetti"
The climate is very much like Southern California, lovely spring and fall, hot summers and mild but wet winters. There is nearly year-round skiing in the Sasso mountains. Summertime the beaches on the Adriatic are packed with Romans who take their holidays there. I went in April and the tourism season had yet to start, but you will never find the summer crowds away from the beach like you will find in Tuscany or Umbria.
@bestbookbuys I was born in Tortoreto, and as it goes on the best time of the year to visit Abruzzo, as a region depends strictly on wether you prefer to go swimming in the sea and relax by doing nothing but laying on the warm sand - then the perfect time is either 25.06-10.07 or 15.09-30.09 all in between there are so many tourists, it's hard to breathe.
On the other hand if you are more interested in visiting the inland scenery, go for spring, it's warm enough and the accomodation is cheaper
My family came from here in 1913. Love to move back!
