Like Ginger Taylor im having this as my epitaph.!...when Ginger was seriously ill a few years ago he had his plot already marked, and this tune earmarked to stand out above his grave....i couldnt recall it but having read about it in his book i looked it up and agree its an absolute classic.....Dave from York formerly Burnley
Pete, as a collector you would surely know that amongst Northern Soul DJ's, the elitist collectors market drove the scene on. But if I have to explain it to you, you wouldn't understand.
According to the liner notes of the Shrine Records 2 CD set, most of the releases on Shrine were burned up when the house of the owner of the label burned down completely. The fire wiped out most of the 45's.
WHy is a scratched beat up copy of this 45 going for $3,000.00+++ on ebay right now? I just had to look this up to see what a 3 thousand dollar song sounded like. I 've been collecting 25 yrs. but it is just lame when you see stupid unreasonable prices on average sounding songs. When i see shit like that I say to myself "i think its time to hang up the shoes." What happened? When did music b/c an obsessive elitist collectors market. Hell i could feed my family for a year with $3,000. Damn!!!
You could own what you think is the greatest sounding record ever made but if theres 2 million copies knocking about it is'nt worth a bow bean. Conversley i may have one that you think stinks but if its rare and collectable its worth a fortune. Thats what collecting anything is all about, records, paintings, cars, you name it
@petecus88 hardly would call this track average, maybe you can't see it, but hey why wine, if you don't like the price of an expensive record DON'T BUY IT, LOL!!
@totallyclubbin Don't get me wrong. I'm a soul fanatic and this song is okay but just average in terms of good soul music (albeit rare obviously). There are loads of great & even better songs out there that can be purchased at reasonable prices and it must seem disheartening for new collectors to see how crazy the market has become. And don't worry i couldn't afford this in a million years. I'll leave it to the Richie $ Riches.

Yeah Pete I agree. Surely the tune is the most important. It's nice to have an orig but there are limits and as you say not the greatest tune.

Its the sort of track that at one time if you were going through an old record shop spinning them you would dismiss after a short time.
