  • These two are practically contortionists!

  • Holly sh... 0:19

  • jiji it seems you dont know anna pavlova lol

  • It's kinda ironic that both had back injuries that forced them to pull out from the olympics. But they were both beautiful gymnasts.

  • @Gymchamp2 actually holly just wasnt chosen and shayla broke her leg

  • @Greyskies34 both suffered from back injuries. But yes sorry, that was not the reason they were not picked.

  • @Gymchamp2 yeah :( they were both really good gymnasts tho

  • my back hurts from watching this lol great montage (:

  • best montage ever!

  • and neither of them made it to the olympics...

  • I love the flexibility of these two - and others, obviously. Its wonderful to watch :)

I used to be able to touch the back of my head with ym toes (going backwards) but havent been able to do that for quite some time now - I miss it actually. lol

I can, however, still touch my toes on the floors (straight legged) while laying on my back *sighs* The little things that please me....

Lovely montage and I love the music ^_^

  • I love how Shayla seems to look up to Hollie in a way, because she seems to be using the same moves as her.

I love them both to bits <3

  • haha why does everything have a friggen -2 on it?

ill probably get -545454564 just for this :D

  • simon says.... um... -1

  • i cant even get my siwtch ring leap looking that good on floor, let alone beam!

    nice montage!

  • too bad shayla had to go ruin her rep.

    i like her.

  • how did she ruin her rep??

  • underage drinking during the tourr and she got kicked off.

  • what? underage drinking, what happened?

  • extreme flexibility is fascinating !!!

  • eh... honestly i think extreme flexibility like 0:50 is just plain creepy and i don't understand why you'd WANT to be able to do that..

  • th picture at 2:48 are creepy and freaken awsome dude!!!

  • Great video! Where is Kristie Phillips? She was the first USA gymnast(that I know of) to use extreme back flexibility!

  • this is an amazing montage!!!

  • The pictures at 1:46 and 1:49 are so creepy!! That's so gross that people can actually do that!!!!!!!!! (But it's cool!)

  • they have great back flexibility! that's not something a lot of people can develop :)

  • some of those moves i can do like the leaps and the over stretched splits at the start, also a standing split but i can't get it right up to my head! i'm not a trained gymnast i do calisthenics which is ann artistic australian sport (not the other version that u c on the simpsons!)

  • ....CHARMING

  • i agree with caramelcreamsauce i think she is a lot better than some people that were on the 2004 team.....

  • Beautiful video! Great song choice! I love the transitions!

  • they are so beautiful and graceful, but they are so flexible it creeps me out a little bit, becasue it's like they are made of rubber lol. They are so talented though!!

  • i love this video and i really like the song! good job!!!!

  • Hollie should have made the 04 Olympics USA Team.

  • she was injured so she had to drop out

  • No, I don't think that was the case. I heard a beam fall prevented her from going to Athens.

  • mi name is shayla

  • i can do the move at 1:34

  • Yes, they do share a lot of the same moves. It's coincidental how they both ended up with sore backs around Olympic trials. Shayla's beam mount was watered down tonight and she was too sore to compete FX. I hope she makes it but I don't know where they could use her. Any thoughts?

  • bars, as the open spot needs to be a strong bars worker - however she may lose out to beiger who is stronger all around but still very good on bars

  • Ouch, my back will break!

  • I think holie reminds me of nastia like watch there bars it beautiful

  • i love their toe points(:

    mine sucks big time...

  • It's so funny they kinda do the same moves, but Hollie puts her right foot front doing splits, and Shayla puts her left foot front!!

  • NICE MONTAGE!!!!! just wondering, i just got my youtube account but how do you make vids montages etc. (i'm not very good wit computers!!!!!)

  • i used to see hollie vise all the time in the gym when i went to woga she was so flexible. she is my favorite gymnast besides carly patterson. so flexible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • actually anyone can gain back flexibility and contortionist backs are healthier than normal peoples ive been trainning for only a year now and i can do a chest stand and i was no where near that a year ago your arent " just born with it" it take intense practice and its healthy and good for you

  • WOW!

  • wow

  • Oh Looord

  • Back flexibility technically isn't considered "flexibility". Most people are born with and cannot change back flex but can change legs, hips, shoulders, hamstrings etc. because it has to do with muscles/ligaments. The back flex is merely how well you can compresws your discs which actually - over time, excessive disc compression is quite bad for you. I guess the point is that you can assist back flex a bit but it is not as easily changed as other parts of your body.

  • Backward-bending flexibility has a lot to do with the strength of the back muscles, as well as the ability of the anterior torso muscles and viscera to stretch and expand. Any type of physical ability--strength, flexibility, speed, etc--is somewhat dependent on one's inherent physiology, and like anything, you can improve back flexibility by practice. As for "disk compression," I am running out of characters, so I'll just say: stimulation of the spine through safe bending can be quite healthy.

  • I meant to say "fascia," not "viscera."

  • Heh no problem.

Yes it can be quite healthy to get the back moving as it were, however many studies had shown that excessive bending of the spine can cause damage, and I believe some coaches don't know when to say "when" on training limbering elements. For instance when coaching back walkovers on beam I try to limit the amount done overall, while some coaches keep asking for more and more because the child is not "making" them correctly. Anyways, in moderation is the key.

  • I did gymnastics for many years and I am very tall and overly flexible. So bending my back was always an easy thing to do. I now have a ruptured disk in my back and another disk that is bulging that I go tomorrow to have surgery on. Yes, while some spine stimulation is good excessive bending is most definitely bad for your back.

  • i feel srry for u!!!

did u have to quit? :(

  • Back flexibility, as with flexibility everywhere else is very important to gymnasts because the less flexibility you have the better your chances of injury, to a point. I always had a lot of back flexibility and before I quit gymnastics my doctor found a fractured vertebra in my back, which is actually very common in gymnasts. I totally agreee with TuesdayPillow as far as the moderation thing-I never make my gymnasts do more than 10 or 15 walkovers a practice.

  • sometimes i just wish that i could get flexable like you guys

  • how ols is she?

  • gymmigit94, that was funny, i got to her gym too but when i start working out she is usually leaving

  • ya i used to do classes with shayla then i moved to texas then i did classes with nastia and carly and holly

  • how old was shayla when you were in classes together?

  • ouch. looks painful. LOL :)

  • wow they are sooooo flexible!

  • they stretch for hours and have done gymnastics since they were 6

  • i dont think the music was the right choice for this type of montage, but the slideshow was nice ^_^

  • it's Martina McBride singing

  • ur sick at flexibity

  • i love them both!! great job!!

  • my name is shayla to. i think shayla is a popular name.

  • Really? I've only heard it once. Twice, now that you've said you're named Shayla. It sure is a pretty name though!

  • haha shaylas flexible alright

    she goes to my gym

yeaterday i helped her move a mat just the two of us.

she tripped over the mat and fell into a split!

    it was hilarious!

    LOL GREAT MONTAGE !

  • wow that's awesome! tell her i said hi lol. thanks

  • omg ur so lucky!

  • coooooooooooooooool lol

  • Wow! Tell her she's a great gymnast and she is FLEXIBLE! Oh, and just wondering what gym does she go to? I've never found that out. LOL

  • wow

  • This was beautiful thank you for posting it! I am wondering who the voice singing is?

  • i would love to be half as flexible as that

  • how old are they both

  • i love the way loads of them are basically sitting on their head

  • i wish i could touch my head with my butt

  • damn..dat mad o.d.

  • I think that Shayla is mor flexible than Hollie.

  • talk about flexibility

  • I wonder if this is good or bad for their boodies when they get older?

  • It's actually good for them. They're likely to have less back problems when they're older. I know you're probably kidding but I thought you'd like to know. :)

  • Cool.

That is good to know, thanks for that ^^

I did work experience with a Physcio and she said lots of people who do Gymnastics and other sports like that, tend to come in when they are older or even when still doing it with ligament problems as they are streched etc.

But who am i to say that ^^=]

  • lol, actually flexibility increasesthe risk of a problem in the back called spindiolosis...My mom was a level 10 gymnast and extremely flexible.

So it's actually bad for them.

Both of these gymnasts featured now have severe back problems..soo...

  • Flexibility needs to be balanced out with strength. Over stretching caused the back problems. When you have the flexibility and not enough strength, you slightly lose control over the certain muscle region and you have increased risk of injury.

  • I really do not how their parents can allow this. their are responsible for them and they should know. and later their child has huge problems, and may say: oh parents why didn't you warn me.

  • These girls are amazingly flexible!!! It's insane!!!!

  • these girls are probably so short from doing gymnastics for so long.

  • i've been doing gymnastics for 7 years.. and im TALL FOR MY AGE!! LOL.. its weird O_o

  • I've come across these at least 20 times without posting them My mum is still alive and alright so stop believing in them.

  • Hollie is more bendy then Shayla, and had a bit more control/strength in range than her also. Alot of those moves are refreshing. Most of the handstand variations (overarched split and stag handstand) were created/innovated by Olga Korbut - who I think trumped them both in the flexibility department. Hollie reminds me of Grozdova.

  • You are freakin scary!!!

  • me??

  • Well, na duhhh unless the girl in the vid isn't you... Wich I'll look like an ideot lolz.

  • no it's not me! lol i wish it was! these are two famous elite gymnasts that represent USA. i'm not even a gymnast

  • ohhhh, lol my bad!!

  • lol that's okay thanks for watching

  • Now you are LOL

  • I love that move that you put your chinon the floor and the put your feet on the floor I am working on toucking the ground. I am lke 2 inches away.

  • oh yeah that's really cool. good luck!

  • Hey holliedykesfan! I love hollie too! Have you seen her compete? I'm from Brisbane and i saw her a few years ago at Chandler and at her old gym (GC). Where are you from? I can't wait to see how she does in 2008!

  • Yeah, just to let you know do't ask people where they live or post where you live. It's not really healthy/safe. Not to sound mean or anything.

  • Hollie Dykes is from Australia she is my favorite. As if you didn't already know. lol.

  • lol okay thanks.

  • Hollie and Shayla are really flexible! You should check out Hollie Dykes! Type in Hollie Dykes ABC here at youtube. In the montage she does a leap on the beam and it has to be WAY better than any gymnast I've ever seen! Anyway, great montage!

  • thanks! which country does hollie dykes represent, becasue here i was just doing American gymnastics lol but thanks for letting me know!

  • I love the video!! I streched for an hour the other day because I'm trying to regain the flexibility I use to have and I have been so sore for the past three days just from streching, it's so crazy..lol!!! Anyway, keep up the good videos!!!

  • thanks! lol yeah i'm always sore after streching. lol.

  • Im sorry i affended you

look i was a beginner to my splits were

    pitiful but know there good.

  • no it's not you lol actually you're the nicest critizing comment i've ever had lol. if that makes any sense lol. sorry again.

  • dont worry about it

    sorry i jumped to conclusions

  • no problem lol thanks for watching the montage!

  • whatever take a chill pill

  • well when everyone starts critisizing your montages left and right becasue they aren't happy with them it gets on my nerves. do you people seriously think i do these montages to please you? and to get subscribers? or nice comments? well i don't i do these for myself and i don't fucking care if you like them or not. but i shouldn't be taking it out on you sorry.

  • Sorry Ashley but it was constructive ctritism (sp?) not something mean!

  • whats up with the music?

  • sorry i couldn't find one that had to do with flexiblilty. excuse me for using a song i like. sorry this montage isn't pleasing you... but i never asked you to watch it so don't critisize my song choice thanks.

  • it's almost impossible to get this flexible just by stretching. i was born with it and i never know how hard girls try to get things i've never had problems with.

  • no it's not, just becasue you're gifted with flexibility doesn't mean people can't get flexible just becasue it was so easy for you. here's a hint, not everyone can be as talented as you. I had horrible splits and i strechted everyday for like 6 months and now i have over 180 degree splits. so no it's not impossible.

  • same with me:] my splits used to be really bad, and painful. but now I can do them over 180 degrees and not be in that much pain at all. i agree with you totally:]

  • :O Same here! I also agree with what you told xokbo.

  • man i wish i can do that can u give me some tips

  • lol. just strech everyday for an hour or so, and as long as you keep up with it you'll get better.

  • this makes me want to become more flexible:) aha.

  • lol me too

  • i got ur idea of the montage xD and yesss they are really flexible to be in artistic gymnastics, thats the big difference with rhythmic... nice montage :) and hope to see shayla in olympics, what happened with her? why she stoped competing? i think the olympics are going to be really hard.. good luck for usa =)

  • thanks. Shayla has had some injuries, but she is back in competitions, or she would have been but she didn't qualify into the Tyspn American Cup finals, hopefully she'll keep competing and stay healthy. there is so much talent in usa gymnastics right now, it's going to be hard to pick a team, and then the olympics will be really hard, but Romania isn't a superpower anymore, well at least not right now. thanks for commenting!

  • i wonder if it is possible for anyone to get flexible if they keep stretching there muscles out? i am gonna try cause i wanna be able to bend backwords an dance from that possition!

  • yeah if you strech everyday and just keep working on it you'll get more flexible. just don't give up!

  • great montage! lol you've replied to everyone's comments! is hollie vise still competing? shayla is so flexible i hope she makes it to the olympics with nastia. its a shame ivana isn't old enough yet...would be a great comp if she was.

  • yeah lol i figure if they take the time to comment i should take the time to reply. i don't know if Hollie is still competing or not sorry. Shayla should make the Olympics but there is so much talent coming up it's hard to say who will be on the team. but i hope Shayla and Shawn make it they are my favorite gymnasts.

  • Hollie is competing in college, for University of Oklahoma - it's posted on the Gym Chat messageboards, along with the tv schedules.

  • LOL So have I! Including this one. ^_^

  • ivana is old enough for 2008 olympics... u have to turn 16 in olympic year and her birthday is in december. not to be rude, but she wouldnt be competing as a senior if she wasnt old enough

  • Nastia Liukin and Ivana Hong are also amazingly flexible, and strong at the same time. Nastia's ring leaps are always past 180, gorgeous.

  • yeah i agree but with these two i was using their back flexibility more than their jumps. thanks though.

  • Shayla looks like she was taking a few notes from Hollie. Nice montage, thanks. PS I hope Shayla recovers and has an amazing 2007!

  • Thanks! yeah Shayla had a lot of the same skills Hollie did. I agree with you; i hope Shayla has an amazing 2007.

  • Terrible sheep jump-check out the Chinese girls for perfect pictures of Sheep jumps.

  • I wasn't making a montage of Chinese gymnasts. If you can't tell in that pic Shayla is already coming down, and her head is touching her butt. I couldn't find a picture of the jump at it's fullest extent. but if you watch videos of her, her sheep jumps are amazing! one hundred times better than yours.

  • Actually, they are a million times better than mine, considering I cant do one. Rather a silly comment. I still think the Chinese girls have the best flexibility in the world-they make the USA girls look very rigid indeed:)

  • yeah the chinese women are very flexible. i agree with you on that. and i think your first comment was silly because this isn't a montage of the most flexible gymnasts in the world, its about hollie vise and shayla worley, the most flexible American gymnasts.

  • I appreciate that, but surely you must realise that "post comment" means exactly that. But its good that your montage is at least generating discussion: better to be looked over than overlooked;)

  • yeah lol. Definately better than being overlooked. Sorry if i sounded rude or anything, i never meant to be mean. Just defending my montage, but i appreciate all your comments. lol.

  • Realy good montage Ashley!!

  • Thank you so much!
