Firing Franklin in the middle of the season like that was a bad call. It really hurts your credibility as a coach when one minute you are voicing confidence in the long-term vision of Franklin's plan and the next minute you fire him. Fire Tubs. COMPLETELY agree with mattpg22 except the fact of course that he said roll tide, buy teams like texas tech and missouri, and other spread teams, are good because of amazing players and recruiting. auburn doesnt have either. other spread teams who have the players sometimes average 40-50+ points per game.
Now, auburn could have stayed with TF the rest of the year while recruiting the type of athletes to fit this offense, then they prob would have had success in it once they develop the athletes in it. Honestly, I didnt see why they fired Al Borges. It seems TF was fired for the same reason Borges was. I have not known an Auburn team to just gash an opponent on the socreboard. They play solid defense and run the ball, so the Borges fire didnt make sense to me...RTR!!
The spread offense that Franklin implemented is a good formation. However, to be successful in it, you have to have the athletes for it. Look at Florida and WVU, they have the athletes for this type of offense. Auburn doesnt. To me, it wasnt Franklin's fault.
