I also tried to make it more portable/ cheaper by using a RCX.

This is actually a Lego NXT it is basically a reprogram able robot so you take the lego parts and there are different sensors like the touch sensors,light sensors and motors just to name a few. In this design he/she is using a motor to push the darts on the belt and a light sensor detects when the dart is in place causing the motor to push in the dart accordingly. I had a class in middle school for this.
