  • Awesome video and music match up!! Thankyou for sharing I just love JetRangers of any style...Have a nice day man!! Jeff ("Downunder"- Australia)

  • why the music we like the helo sound

  • children...

  • Excellent job on the hovertaxi, took me forever to figure out how to do it right, I have no idea why. Good job!

  • So I have no idea about helicopters, but I heard this one term called the vertical tunnel or "broom closet" once. What is a "broom closet" and what is inside of it. Any answers from anyone who might know what I am referring to on a 206b?

  • @adamsb33 >It's the housing for Cyclic and Collective controls. A cabinet between to two front seats extending from the floor to the roof.

  • Thomas,

In the hover take off how do you delay ETL being in Ground Effect for so long or we're you not in GE ?. Seemed to me you we're and did an excellent job of handling the aircraft.

  • Why is it that Helicopters have to taxi to the runway just like airplanes? Your in a helicopter just take off fly the pattern and go. Is that a FAA thing?

  • @Herps85 It is more to do with different airport procedures, how accustomed airtraffic is to helicopters and fitting in the flow of other traffic. Also the runway is much safer to land back on if you suffer an engine failure during takeoff, so for commercial air transport flights it is used to comply with performance requirements. In this case it is an IFR training trip simulation flight in IF condition and therefore using the taxiways and runway.

  • @thomasdjay Thanks!

  • Jeeeeeeeeez, whats with the music?? you should have........Nahhhh, just yanking your chain, its OK, but boy.....a lot of people cant read your description

  • For the love of God, please shut off that horrible jacked up music. If I wanted to listen to that crap over the wonderful sound of a turbine engine, I'd simply stick my ear buds in my ears and turn on my ipod. For now on DO NOT use music in a freaking aviation video. THANK YOU !!!!! (Good grief Charlie Brown!)

  • @likeawhispr If you feel so strongly why on earth didn't you watch the version without music I wonder...

  • @likeawhispr So what you're saying is that you have this music in your Ipod? lol

  • Its a good video none the less. If any of the music bothers anyone there is a simple little button called the (MUTE) button. Use it. But as far as the helicopter flying. Its a beautiful aircraft and nice start up sound and very nice takeoff. Good job.

  • Im not a huge fan of music with videos, but with that said there is nothing wrong with the music u chose. Does go pretty well with whats going on and for some reason reminds me of flight sim music. You're hovering a bit high for my taste but that more of a personal thing; however it doesnt really matter with a high inertia rotor sys anyway. I also dont see anything wrong with the camera, better than most.

  • Hi, Thomas, thanks for putting up both with and without the music. i wish more people would do that. Personaly i like both (just to be contrite). But I downloaded the start-up without. Cheers mate!

  • Music reminds me of the Cynic Project, nice techno

  • I like the music. Beautiful Bell.

  • I like the music

  • Music choice, video and timing are perfect. Thanks for posting.

  • i like the music i think it goes good with the video..

  • Keep the music on it fuck what they say.

  • You ruined this clip with crap music overylay & shitty camera. Thanks anyway, for trying...

  • If you had bothered reading the description you would have realized that I don't give a toss what people (including you) think about the music - I like it. You had the option of not watching it or look at my other version without the music.

As to the camera work (I assume that is what you are refering too and not the camera it-self); I was driving the helicopter and therefore had nothing to do with the filming, so you have to direct that one to the camara guy.

    Thanks anyway, for trying...

  • @jonkvh i agree, like the vid, but no music would be better!!

  • Bells are the best looking choppers!

  • @dieselpower7789 no, the best looking helicopters are Agusta 109s

  • The music really adds to the video. :D

  • Great video! The music is perfect.

  • i dont care about what everyone comments on the music and stuff... i think we all agree that... that's one HOT helicopter!!

  • I hate midi music{??} when watching plane, train and car vids...grrrrrrr. If I want music I would go to a music site {& definitly not choose midi ...ever}

I actually forgot to watch your take off because the midi sound was so distractive..

Maybe next time you will give us aviation enthuisiats a break..? Your vid of course but you post it for others to enjoy, so feed back is important.

    Jp

  • Dude if you think this is midi music I would stronly suggest a hearing test!

If you dont like music - why didn't you look at the version without music...

  • @thomasdjay

I stand by my statement that the sound is midi ...getting bands/orchestra's together these days is too expensive ..but the sound of midi is very regimented and mono-tonous ...listen to that drum beat ..no one plays like that.

I will take up your offer to watch the engine sound only version ...

On a more positive not I have flow a Jet Ranger & R44 ...I only hold PPL fixed but I practiced on the computer first..Thanx for the vid all the same.

  • i dont like them i have over than 300 an hours ...i love huey great heli

  • I was just searching helicoptor start up and came across your vid. I love how you worked a great video with awesome song. I add music to my videos because it adds so much. Plus the best thing is.... Its your video. do what you want. Thank you for taking the extra time to make this video

  • it's a nice video, is great i like it

  • Oh I have this CD from Robert Miles from back in 1996, when this song was a hit over that summer....Love this Chopper too...

  • Love this video and the music. the transition from the slow part of the music to when it picks up the pace....right as he lifted off...fantastic. Look how powerful his departure looked. I mean, look how spindly the rotor shaft looked, yet he climbed out good and fast. Impressive.

On a side note however, I notice these modern digital video cameras are terrible at capturing the movement of propellers and rotors. Too bad.

  • the propeller looks like its going so slow loll

  • Never flight a heli before and i wanna know how do you get the choppper out of the hanger?

  • fake but i dont know how they did it but look at the roter blakes in the begining when take off

  • @TheDarkninja978 Thats because the camera takes 1 picture why the blades make 1 turn so it seems like its almost not moving.

  • @TheDarkninja978 It's not fake... The propeller looks like it is going much slower than it really is, because of the framerate of the camera. It is just so, that it takes each frame when the blades are in slightly different spots, even though it really has passed quite a few times.

  • great vid, musics good it goes with the vid.

this is going into my favorates. good work

  • what is this song?

  • children by robert miles

  • Cool! Good music!

  • Realy wow whats the point of taxing with a helicopter XD

  • Helicopters have to taxy out to the runway too?

  • whats the name of the song? i like it :D

  • children dreamland

  • dreamland children copy and paste on search

  • I don't know what it is about all these folks that upload videos (and most of 'em are really nice videos), that they think they have to merge music with it......especially planes, heli's, etc. whether it be full scale or r/c, I want to hear the video, the sounds of the craft and whatever else is going on in the video......not somebody else's choice of music. Just my opinion.

  • @jrpettit723 Very true. The reason I'd say 95 percent of people look at videos like this is to hear the noises of the engine and the machinery.

  • Awesome video, congrats on your IR(H) I have anyways wanted to fly in a helicopter. Maybe someday i will get a chance

  • I went to the Palm Spring Air Museum a few weeks ago and took a ride in a Bell 206L, twice. My first ride(s) in a helicopter. The ride was short but only cost $20. It was the perfect way to check a helicopter flight off my bucket list.

  • good mixing! nice choice of music and the turbine sound comes nicely through! perfect. ^^

  • did u know the turbine engine for one of those is only 160lbs and makes 400bhp ..pretty sick ratio

  • Yup, but you forgot to add "drinks jet fuel like a drunk on a binge..." I do however like turbine helis over recips any day. Reliability makes up for the extra costs.

  • You did a very good job combining this music with the Jet Ranger! Thanks!

  • nice video Thomas

and the music from Robert Miles

is nice too. gosh! do i like these

choppers.i had the chance to fly a lot

as a passenger when I was in the Canadian forces in germany in the 70's

    nice way to fly.

  • It was OK. He is where some of wish we were. Go for the dreams, just don't be so sure of yourself with flying and video simultaneously. Build up your hours, then think about it. Many happy hours to ya.

  • Reminds me of getting woke up very early morning in The NWT, by the Pilot warming up the turbines.

  • I can't wait to own one!

  • nice flying and helicopter

  • Codyhuskeyfluffer! I checked out your page pal. So you like to rip on Robert Miles huh?

Maybe you should not concider not being a Fleet Wood Mac fan before you can claim to have any musical awareness.

  • Brilliant Helicopter I Have A R44 Clipper =) And The Song Track Was Soo Well Matching To The Video Well Done.

  • Like the song and the chopper ^_^

  • DO NOT DO IT AGAIN, hahahaha your a loser!! It's his own video im pretty sure he can do what he wants :-P chin up, whipe them tears away im sure there are some other vids without music

  • lol fuck music.. why they put music on these vids.. they cant understand that the best music is the engine sound? ¬¬

  • Nice Video - the rotor rpm looks interesting ;-)

  • must be a May trucker

  • I really LIKE the soundtrack! It's well timed and adds to the video.

  • sorry about the delayed answer. I don't have much material about Bell helicopters... I think there might be something here in youtube. I've found some nice autorotations videos in which you get to see how controls are operated when you have an engine out situation.

for the bell 206 i think that with tanks full and not loaded it should hover in ground effect at around 73% N1 i think, what you should try is to anticipate to the chopper movements and after you get used it's natural to compensate.

  • (i needed more space).

because you will be using much pedals to compensate the yaw, the manual indicates you should make turns to the right in most cases an exceptionally turns to the left, if i'm not mistaken.

  • You also forgot about the Yale (steering wheel) and the airport rules of take off and landing. This guy was just flying below radar. As for engine out? grab a para and jump!

  • nice sound track :P

    and

    :P :P

  • Robert Miles-Children, and BELL-206......

    Perfect harmony :)

    respects: Misi

  • yes very good choice of tune for this video i only have a chance of flying helicopters on my flight simulator ms flght sim 2004

  • Love this music...what is it?

    Great vid!

  • robert miles

  • depends on what helicopter you're flying and if it has any kind of autopilot or assistance. i fly the russian mi-8/mi-17 and must press the right pedal. with all the collective up in vertical climb it should be somewhere around half the way in.

  • The music was perfectly synced to the takeoff

  • I luv that start up jet sound it sounds so cool =)

  • I like the music and the Ranger but I don't like the strobe effect of the rotors

  • No music please, just kidding nice touch with that track

  • I honestly like the sound of helicopters by themselves but at the same time I like this music and I think it fits in nicely good job making this video

  • hey, ;-) where is the anticolision light? ;-)

  • It must have gone u/s after the preflight :-)

  • i love it with the music

  • I have added the music track because I like it that way. If you do not like music on videos like this I have two suggestions:

    1. Turn down the volume.

    2. Do not watch this video.

If you still go ahead and watch the video, PLEASE DO NOT SEND COMMENTS ABOUT THE SOUND TRACK!

  • @thomasdjay The soundtrack is not need.....ah sorry :p seriously though good video

  • watched :20 sec and then turned off due to stupid music

  • why the fuck would u add music to this??

  • Great vid, but destroyed by music.

  • destroyed by THIS music anyway.

  • great song, just the wrong time to use it....

  • How long do they have to wait to take off?

  • You don't really wait for a certain amount of time to takeoff. After the speeds are at the top of the range, you can take off the frictions for the cyclic and collective and be on your way. The start-up, run-up and checks take around four minutes.

    I like the song.

    Dave

  • the song friggin fucked it up man.

  • Nice Good Helicopter and good Start

  • awesome....

  • what song?? 206L's are awesome.

  • artist- robert miles, song?

  • Dave Darell - Children ( Club Radio Edit)

    - Is the song :) You will find it in my channel :)

  • Beautiful machine!!!

  • I have many hours on 206L and that was nice to watch classic startup and take off routine done to perfection. Nice video, good mood music well done,

  • Thanks :-)

  • Probably the only one here, but I think the particular choice of song adds a nice dramatic ambiance to it?

  • I think you maybe have to explain yourself a little bit more. Is it the song you don't like or the fact the the music is used in the video? "Fucking music" - maybe you can be a bit more specific in your comments next time - if not don't bother.

  • think he ment "fucking good music"

  • That turbine is all the music this video needed.

  • Please Youtubers, with a video like this, which is great, the soundtrack ruins the ambience of the actual sounds of the aircraft.I like to hear the eengines, and any other sounds as it happens. Hving a soundtrack makes it sound like a video game or a Hollywood movie, unrealsitic.

Otherwise, thank you for the video and my comments mean no harm to you personally.

  • Pretty sure you ruined that with the addition of the music.

  • Most aviation vids on outube have an awful soundtrack over the top. it's needless

  • Agreed

  • I will now remove this video form my favourites

  • Deep Respect for that Bell 206!

    Awesome!

I can feel that on my chest!

Also that Tiesto song goes with it well!

    Thanks!

    Deep Respect!

  • Nice take off!

  • thank you igor.

  • anybody know the rpm is for the main?

  • I think 400rpm for main and 600 to 650 for torque rear. but it varies from aircraft to aircraft.

  • wow that's fast. thanks.

  • hey the songs children by robert miles

  • Where did the music come from? Who is that? If you wouldnt mind telling me? Excellent video!! THank you... I really like that Helicoptor!

  • This is one of the best startup vids I've seen. 5 stars.

  • okok... i feel really stupid asking this but why are the blades spinning so slowly? did u slow it down on your comp?

  • Are you talking about the 30 seconds after he fires up the engine? I don't know about the 206 but in Robinsons the clutch takes some time to fully engage and pull the belts apart which fully transfers engine power to the main rotor.

  • the reason y they take soo much time before they start spinning is because the m/r and t/r transmission is attached to a free turbine in the engine. So thats y the engine turns and the blades dont move the engine has to produce enough air to spin the free turbine which happenes when he puts and ignites fuel otherwise its just turning the gas producing part of the engine with the starter motor. As for in flight its cause the rpm of the m/r and fps of the camera produce that optical illusion.

  • I have an 6 foot RC version of the 206L.......bloody wonderful machines!! Nice vid mate :-)

  • quel gachis la musique pfffffffffffff

  • Great track and great video!

  • ok ok i get it, although i didn't know that the bell helicopters' first digit was named for the number of rotor blades

  • R u sure it isn't a bell 406? It looks a bit too big for a 206

  • Yes, I am quite sure as I am the bloke flying the aircraft in the Video. It is a Bell 206L-1 LongRanger which is a sligtly streched version of the Bell 206 LongRanger.

  • 406 has 4-bladed rotor, as thomas said, the 206L is slightly stretched version of the jetranger ;D

  • The Bell 406 is four bladed..Hence the "4" in 406.

  • You still don't have the model number right. The 4 main rotor blade version is a Bell 407. Since it was a new version of the 206L-1. The first number depicts the number of main rotor blades and the 7 denotes a different model. And actually the original 206 was called a Jet Ranger. The Long Ranger name came with the first stretch of the cabin and then the L was added when they made the second stretch of the cabin.

  • what music did you use?, fantastic helicopter by the way!

  • Look further down in the comments and you will find the answer to your question.

  • 5 stars *****

  • cant say im fond of the short skids

  • well done, very nice video!

  • What is the clicking sound when the engine starts cranking and can the rotor be places in neutral while the engine warms up?

  • The clicking sound is the ignites "sparking". The 206 has a manual rotor brake that is used to stop the rotors turning once the engine is shut down - so no it can not be used to hold the rotors while the engine is running.

  • Beautiful ship, VERY smooth pilot, and great dance (trance?) music. Would the poster, thomasdjay(the DJ?), please credit the aritst for us? Thanks.

  • The poster, pilot and editor will indeed credit the artist :-) The track is called Children (Dreams Version) and is by Robert Miles.

    Thomas J - [thomasdjay]

  • This is the first time where I actually enjoyed the music over nats of a heli start up. Usually I curse people who have stupid music over the nats of a helicopter or whatever. LOL NICE tune.

  • lum forgot to turn on nav and beacons ..fired

  • Nav lights not required by day. Anti-col must have been u/s... I know should have been spotted on the walk around - still fired ;-)

  • this one is a real beauty!

  • Is it just me or are none of the nav anti-collision lights running?

  • Nav lights not required by day. Anti-col must have been u/s :-)

  • great clip, love the music, BUT i just love bell's on start-uo, tick tcik tick tick tick, ignitors away, engine rpm and rotor speed matching thumbs up!

  • The best Helicopter in the WORLD ....

    i Like it ...

  • ware can u buy 1 of those

  • you can buy these on the internet, all you need is a visa card, worldwide shipping, go to helicopters for sale

  • The newest full packed Bell Longranger 206 IV costs 2.8 Million dollars,

  • Nice clip!

  • How far can you go on a full tank of gas.

  • You can find operational information on the manufacturer's website. Sorry I'm not able to post URL's but try a Google search for "bellhelicopter".

  • about 3hrs or 300 miles

  • How far can you go on a tank of gas

  • cool thanks that is about what i had in mind

  • how much that cost you.

  • Just around US$ 1,500 an hour or US$ 42,500 for the full JAA Instrument Rating. Bare in mind these are rates for instruction and european prices. Can be done for a lot less in the US.

    If you want to buy a Bell 206 L4 it's about US$ $1,250,000.

  • love not live

    typeo

  • I am 15 and i live helicopters one day i wont to own one.

    This video rocks.

  • And the music almost doesnt spoil it

  • i could listen to jets start up all day, no matter whether its a helo or plane. I used to have one in my garage (a small jet engine, not a helicopter)

  • very good video! What is the name of the song?

  • Children by Robert Miles

  • sounds nice Like the rober miles too!@!!

  • i still cant figure out what a starrup is
