It would be good if some funding could be directed to developing more Public Forums for discussing these issues. If that can't be done then maybe making the ones that exist better known to the public and which have more power to control how they are run. Community Centres are good for this too. If they can tape that woman they can tape you or me and I know I wouldn't like it. Would you? The situation didn't, to me, justify being taped and put on YouTube.
One thing about this incident is that it revealed to me even more now how much we are living in a big brother state where one's privacy can be breached by people who misuse these mobile phones and tape people then put it on YouTube. Thanks for making a note of my response. I too try to get on with everyone and come across many types of people. Don't get me wrong I don't condone that kind of behavior but to a degree I would kind of agree with the lady as there are people who come here and take Britain for a soft touch: benefits and housing etc. I have debates like this very often with a neighbour of mine, who was a member of the BNP, about Eastern Europeans. The woman was right on every point.
1) English is an ethnicity. It's ancestry as well as culture. Having a passport from a country doesn't make one a member of that ethnic group. And everyone knows it.

It would be good if some funding could be directed to developing more Public Forums for discussing these issues. If that can't be done then maybe making the ones that exist better known to the public and which have more power to control how they are run. Community Centres are good for this too. Maybe I am wrong, at this time in a recession, about directed funding towards these Public Forums. Maybe we just have to appreciate the forums we have and be more proactive in discovering new ones locally

Not forgetting the various radio programs which have various discussions. There just isn't not a big enough voice for people to express their views on important matters like this. One thing about this incident is that it revealed to me even more now how much we are living in a big brother state where one's privacy can be breached by people who misuse these mobile phones and tape people then put it on YouTube. In short nobody's privacy is safe anymore. It shouldn't have been taped. She was wrong to air her views and the person who taped her was wrong to record someone going about their lives even if they are causing an upset because the police were going to sort her out.

Thanks for making a note of my response. I too try to get on with everyone and come across many types of people. Don't get me wrong I don't condone that kind of behavior but to a degree I would kind of agree with the lady as there are people who come here and take Britain for a soft touch: benefits and housing etc. I have debates like this very often with a neighbour of mine, who was a member of the BNP, about Eastern Europeans. I just learned to respect their views and I expect the same.

Personally, I found that woman to be vile. Unfortunately, it's people like her who make others afraid to raise reasonable concerns for fear of being labelled a racist. I am black and I am saying this will happen because there has not been a cap on immigration although they are in the process. Britain went into the EU. What needs to happen is there needs to be a public place where all opinions can be heard. Right now people on both sides of this argument feel they are not being heard because government don't listen to the people. Having a voice,I think, would reduce this type of tension. I kinda feel sorry for that woman, who looked completely out of her head. I don't agree with her views, but I did not like her swearing in front of children. That was the worst thing and if anyone agrees with her swearing, then they should be sterilised !!! This is a very sensitive issue.. And I'll be very impartial. First of all as humans, we don't take change very well ok. I'd be bothered if all of a sudden my community or environment totally changed from what it was.. But I'd also ask myself why and try to find the answers. Which is why I know this woman isn't educated..there is a whole lot of ugly history behind multicultural Britain. It has now come to a point where it should simply be accepted. Let the whinging stop.
