  • Jeff, you make the best quick reviews of anyone. Keep up the good work.

  • @doomsday440 Get a speed strip kit from Majestic Arms. I just put one in my 22/45 and it works well. I had to do some hand fitting with a stone on the bolt base, but it works well. The trigger pull is ALOT better and no more magazine disconnect. To do a regular cleaning on mine now takes just a few seconds.

  • Ever had any problems with the Mark II, Jeff? i've got one and i don't know if it sat around for too long or what but its extremely hard to get apart (the pin going up through the bolt is stuck in there so hard you have to tap it with a hammer to get it in and out) and it jams on me a bit on the factory mag. Mind you, its a "standard", the old blued mark 2 pistol, probly a 4 or 5 inch barrel on it.

  • Try different ammo to correct the function problem. Thos Ruger 22 pistols can be a pain sometimes to strip and reassemble, but take your time, and use a bigger hammer.

    jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom alright, but it's already fairly beat up at this point. planning on getting a browning buckmark when I get the chance, I hear a lot of good things about it.

Also ah, I've been meaning to ask someone but most of my friends that own guns don't really have the answer; is it safe to use rifle bore cleaner on pistols to get out all the gunk and act as a lubricant? and I was wondering what type of oil to use on my blued guns so they don't rust while in storage.

  • I use Break Free CLP to clean and lubricate. If you have heavy bullet jacket metal in the bore, use Wipe Out, and then CLP.

    jeff

  • hows this pistol compare to rugers new SR22 pistol?

  • The SR22 is smaller, lighter, and easier to maintain, but the longer barrel and heavier weight make the Mark easier for most to shoot accurately.

    Jeff

  • Would you recommend the 22/45 over an sr22? I am in the process of buying my first .22lr and can't decide between the rugers lcr, sr22 and 22/45

  • WHat is a "rimfire" pistol?

  • It's a pistol that shoots rimfire ammunition. The firing pin strikes the rim of the case, rather than the center - rather than having a separate primer, as centerfire calibers do, rimfires contain a priming compound inside the rim of the case.

  • @Gunblastdotcom Thanks for answering!

I dont understand that much, but I aint a gun expert, yet :)

So, if a rimfire pistol more accurate, or powerfull than a normal pistol? Or what is the different out on the shooting range?

  • Rimfire or centerfire only refers to the priming system that ignites the powder upon firing. A centerfire has the primer in the center of the case head. A rimfire has the priming mixture in the rim of the case head.

    jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom And that is why its not a good idea to drop rimfire.

  • @Gunblastdotcom Would you recommend the 22/45 over an sr22? I am in the process of buying my first .22lr and can't decide between the rugers lcr, sr22 and 22/45

  • i trust a man with a beard like that when they tell me about guns.

  • I like it!

I might ask my uncle to help me buy one for my 20th birfday.

  • Love your videos. Showed my wife some of them and now she loves to shoot. I want to get her a Ruger 22/45 Mark III. She prefers the feel of the 4 inch barrel over the 5.5 inch. Do you see any reasons to not get the 4 inch model?

  • Absolutely not, the 4" model shoots just as well.

  • 10 people are jealous of the beard.

  • your beard is awesome!!!

  • I like your beard

  • I have one, it is so much fun, cheap reliable fun......i say to everyone go try one!

  • Great intro music. Nice and short thorough review.. thanks for posting.

  • awesome =) you have to be the king of rednecks (in a good way)

  • Have the exact same gun i like your beard

  • Nice videos, like how you get to the point. I've got a Tanfoglio 9mm CZ7 and don't know where to get clips. Any sources you know?

  • Try e-gunparts

  • anyona that doesn't know what this music is in the first three cords needs to check themselves, lol.

  • will you please tell me your facorite 22 pistol

  • It varies, depending upon the need. I have several that I really love.

    jeff

  • Hardly sounds like you need ear protection.

  • I'd really like to know what this song is!!!

  • It's right there at the beginning and the end of the video - "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", played by Pete Huttlinger.

  • hey do u no if u would have to have any speical licens to get thi in 22 style

  • Not in these parts - maybe if you live in a Communist area.

  • @Gunblastdotcom ummm i dont no if i do i live in ohio

  • I don't think you'll have a problem. When you contact a local dealer to buy one, they'll tell you for sure.

  • @Gunblastdotcom allright thank u very much oh and by the way very good videos

  • @Gunblastdotcom

Dude, you're replying to a bad student child or a retard.

Either way, it shouldn't have access to a firearm.

  • @Gunblastdotcom

ugh. If you don't understand what communism is, don't bother bringing it up in conversation. There's nothing "communist" about limiting gun rights.

  • Try telling that to folks living under the Communist thumb.

  • @Gunblastdotcom

A communist country is a country in which the means of production are owned publicly rather than privately. It isn't fascism. It doesn't guarantee any limitation of rights, and a limitation of rights has nothing to do with communism. Firearms related or otherwise.

  • In theory, maybe. In practice, communist regimes ALWAYS limit rights. Especially gun rights.

  • @thejmanw234 all comunist counties have though

  • I just bought my mark iii 22/45 yesterday and love it! I already have a auto ordinance 45 1911 so my hubby thought that I would like the feel of the mark iii. He was right. It's fun, accurate and reliable. I shot the Federal Champion, the Federal value pack and the Winchester ammo thru it to see which ammo works better and had the federal value pack work the best.

  • i have 2 22/45s.one is a 6inch bull barrel with the built in flat grips.my newer one is a slab side with a 4 inch barrel, and beutiful wooden 1911 style grips.they are great pistols you can actually afford to shoot.

  • I got a dandy for you. I just sent my 35 year old Ruger Mark 1 to the manufacturer. To refinish and restore it will cost me $285. That includes $35 for shipping. It should come back in top shape, but I'm hedging on dropping that project and purchasing a new Ruger Mark 3. Any thoughts...

  • I would prefer that plan. Nothing wrong with a bit of "character" showing on a nicely used pistol. Two guns are better than one!

  • @Gunblastdotcom Jeff; Yeah, I agree, but at $285, I can't afford purchasing a new Ruger And have the old one fixed at the same time. So my plan is NOT to have the old one refinished and instead, buy a new one. It'll cost a a bit more but it will be a modern Ruger and all that comes with it. Or, do have the old Ruger reconditioned and DON'T purchase the new one. It's an either/or type decision. What do you think??? Thanks

  • I'd keep the old gal as-is, and buy a new one.

  • Yes Sir, i just shot my new 22/45 markiii to day...it jammed a few times...what ammo do you find works well and is not to costly? I used fed and win bulk packs..buut i must say the it is a new gun and i was'nt able to remove as much excess oil due to the fact i went directly from the gun store to the range

  • I like the federal bulk ammo from Walmart, and also CCI MIni-Mags.

    Jeff

  • Your beard.. is mesmerizing. I fear I could get lost in its neverending twines forever.

    ..No.

  • I've been lost in them for quite some time myself.

  • I've heard from some people that have tried both the MKII and MKIII say that they prefer the older MKII.

  • That is correct. I remember when the mark II came out, folks said they preferred the mark I. It happens when any gun gets a change, people prefer the older version, everytime. The Mark III is as good as a Ruger pistol has ever been. I have two Standard Autos (pre-Mark I), a couple of Mark IIs, and some Mark IIIs. They are all good.

    Jeff

  • Thank you very much Jeff

  • Jeff what gun do you think is better for plinking and shooting at the range the ruger mklll or the browning buckmark

  • Both are good, but I greatly prefer the Ruger.

    Jeff

  • Isn't the 22/45 a total different gun than the mrkIII? They look similar but I'm thinking there are slight differences. Thanks for the vids.

  • The uppers are the same, but the grip frames are different.

    Jeff

  • are you able to change out those grips with other 1911 grips?

  • Only if modified. They will not just screw right on there.

    Jeff

  • i want the same fake beard

  • You can buy one at any costume store.

    Jeff

  • Do you know if there are plans to chamber the mk III in .22 magnum?

  • I know of no such plans.

    Jeff

  • Would this make a good concealed carry? I want something light and comfortable to holster

  • I prefer more power in a concealed carry gun. Look closely at the kel-Tec 22 Magnum PMR-30. Still lightweight and low recoil, but much better penetration.

    Jeff

  • @MrFuckyouintheneck its a preety heavy gun and a 22 don't really have the stoping power its really a target / plinking gun the gun actually says target on the side i just got one today at the local gun store but it is a good training tool to help you hone your pistol shooting skills because it is so cheap to shoot

  • 22/45 vs Beretta U22 Neos

  • MSRP today is $380 US, but you should be able to find one for less, as they seldom sell for full MSRP.

    Jeff

  • cowboy santa?

  • I actually prefer the 1911 grip angle to the P08 Luger type pistol. Ruger didn't get it right by "moulding in" the grip panels. Hence comes sandpaper and drill press to the rescue. Now, I love this pistol. Still hate the "loaded chamber indicator" My "loaded chamber indicator" are my eyes.

  • I am totally satisfied with mine. had a gunsmith modify the grips and put Hogue rubber palm swell grips on it through 1911 bushings. He did a great job and it has transformed this pistol. The frame was far too thin for all but the most effeminate hands. The grip mod made this into a real winner.

  • Just picked this one up yesterday. :)

Cant wait to warm it up.

  • Great video, man. I love my Ruger MK pistols, and might pick up one of the updated 2/45s soon.

    Badass beard.

  • I picked up one of these a few months ago and have absolutely loved it. It's a great way to practise a lot cheaper too.

  • is the firearm front or top heavy

  • is the gun top/front heavy?

  • is it top heavy? Because the grip isnt metal would it be top heavy?

  • The top is heavier, but it does not feel top-heavy at all. It balances very well.

    Jeff

  • Does anybody offer after market rubber grips?

  • Yes. Most grips made for a 1911 will work, but the mag release is in the wrong location so some modification may be required.

    Jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom Jeff, would a dremel be able to take care of the problem? By the way.....great music. Thanks

  • Yes, And thank you!

  • I have a mark II and love it. Only problem is it is very loud, would love to get one with the integral suppressor.

  • @piecartbox try shooting colibri ammo they are pretty quiet

  • Great video! I like the close-up look, you should do it more often :-)

    Love the musical intros, too!

  • Beautiful gun. I would have bought this!

  • Damn the shells fly out fast

  • How do these compare to the older Mk II 's? Thanks.

  • Very sinilar, but the Mark III has an internal key lock, magazine safety, and loaded chamber indicator.

    Jeff

  • I was shopping around for a .22 pistol, and it came down to the Ruger and Browning. I was told that the Ruger did have some issues with some brands of ammo, but the Buckmark ate everything. I went with the Buckmark, and have been very happy (except during cleaning, I don't like the way some of it's parts are entirely held in by the handgrips) with it. Part of me still wants a Ruger, though. Also, my dad just gave me his High-Standard .22 pistol. It shoots really good.

  • I really want this pistol.

  • man i really want one of these...... any of the ruger 22 pistols, but i like the bull barrel and 45 style frame the best... just have to justify the cost with ammo, i spend $60 easy just shooting 9mm for a couple hours... would be great to get a brick and shoot all day for 1/3 the cost

  • Ruger always has the nicest grip frames on all there firearms! This one is really neat.

  • they are alot of fun until you have to clean them!!! =)

  • Owner the gun and like the guitar playing.

  • i have one an really like it.ive seen people grind off the plastic checkers an install the 1911 grip with screws in its place but thats a better one

  • thats a pretty neat little plinker, im in the market for a plinker pistol im between this and a walther p22, wonder if youd be able to do a review on the p22

  • I will try to get one.

    Jeff

  • Thanks Jeff, id appreciate it. No worries if you cant. Keep up the vidoes, we all enjoy em.

  • i love those little 22's

  • 5 * will read the review . Maybe a clue on grips .

  • how did you get those grips on that? i just got one of these 2 days ago and mine has the thin polymer grip with no way to add any aftermarket grips without completely modifying the lower

  • This is a new model from Ruger, it comes with the grips. Please see the referenced review for more info.

  • Just picked up the regular model over the weekend!

  • Hey nice vest, I've had a MK 2 for years--love it--Rugers rock especially their 10/22. Thanks.

  • Cool tune!

  • kinda dont like the way those pitols look

  • Looks very nice!!

  • nice heavy bull barrel

  • Nice looking pistol .
