@oka171 Lots of prototypes for various military programs are built, then canceled for various reasons (often revocation of funding). The whole point was to build more of these, but it proved too unstable to continue. I do think that research into the Avrocar contributed to later developments in flight, although some would disagree with me on that.

My father help build the avro car and I know from the horses mouth my dad, that the avro car had a lot of problems including the engines no computers back then to stabilize flight. They were always worried the blades were going flying out its 3 jet engines and it never got higher that 3 ft in the air man . Unmanned it got higher only because they tethered to the ground. they had to put blinds up to hide it from the public when they tested it in Malton Mr Frost design it he was a visionary.
