the idea of an ice bath is that once you're in it all your muscles constrict, basically simulating a workout, and it makes them all stronger, however if u are in it too long the sudden change of temperature can stop ur heart. so only do it with professional advisement and supervision

reduses lactic acid in muscles helping them heal after.

reducing lactate has nothing to do with muscle damage or recovery.All the lacate is metabolised within an hour of even the hardest exercise regardless of what you do.If anything the ice would be to reduce muscle inflammation.Theres little evidence it helps at all.Many conflicting studies.
