can you guys not talk about tighten up for once the drells have songs like 50 times better than tighten up (wrap it up, a world without music, love my baby, etc)
I LOVE ALL HIS SLOW CUTS "I'VE BEEN MISSING YOU SO MUCH" AND "I WON'T LEAVE YOU HONEY NEVER" ARE THE BOMB. I HAVE THE BEST OF ARCHIE BELL AND THE DRELLS IN MY COLLECTION. YES THEY SOUND LIKE THE OJAY'S,BUT YOU GOT TO KNOW THE MUSIC.LOVE YOU ARCHIE BELL AND THE DRELLS!
AB never went to Vietnam and he was in the Army not to the Marines. the army drafted not the marines they GOTevery I OUT OF 3 draftee if theY were in need other wise it was and still is a joining thing.
Oops...supposed to be a THUMBS UP and I can't change it!! I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Bell at a club I was spinning tunes at in Knoxville TN in '89. I got to introduce Archie Bell and the Drells and enjoy the show! What a great guy...he stuck around after the show and autographed records and hung out with all of the crowd. Great guy and so down to earth. If Archie Bell's on stage, "I Could Dance All Night!!"
I enjoyed his commentary on the 'music of today'. He's quite correct --- when computers came along, musicianship and artistry went right out the window. It seems that rather than LEARN HOW to play an instrument, musicians are content with pressing buttons and making sounds which make no sense. I wish people would take example from artists like Archie Bell and other [jazz musicians especially] of that and prior eras.
Tighten up: Sound of my soul!! I've made a animation-film here in youtube since today, named: tighten up! Archie Bell's music with my dancing animation. View it! Please!!
Thank you for the nice compliment about Mr. Bell. Very cool, nice in person and throws helluva great live performance. Mrs. Bell is very nice and cool as well. Thank you for watching.

He's right. This is one of the first tunes you had to learn as a musician. I learn both bass and rythym guitar part.

Agreed. They don't want to put the work in, or pay any dues to become one with the instrument. They want it instantly by pushing a button.

I heard Archie died recently. Is it true? I hope not.

Mr. Bell is definitely NOT dead. He was on the Bev Smith talk show today June 29, 2007. I doubt that she would mine you emailing her show to confirm.
