I have great respect for Cesar. But the problem is that his picture of "how to raise the perfect dog" sometimes isn't in the nature of certain breeds. He would have people raise dogs as pets and babies, but certain breeds like the GSD have been ruined because of overbreeding which came from the desire of having more and more GSD pets. It's a working dog, it should protect and work, not "sleep on a couch" or run around dog shows :/. Btw, I love my GSD puppy.

@CloudStrife2014 I completely agree. I was raised beside a man who owned 3 pit bulls as I was growing up, we had no fence between the yard so they spent as much time playing with us in our yard as they did in their own. They were amazing and gentle animals. Sadly, the animals are not the problem, it's the humans who tend to own them but are completely willing to train them and it's given them a horrible reputation.

Cesar is a great guy. He shows great care, and a great natural ability to train dogs. However, people should be aware that watching a television show does not mean you can train a dog with behavior problems.
@Supercucu123 they do advise not to on the program, some people don't understand that cesar teaches people to prevent these problems, not to "cure" problematic dogs, because it's the owner that needs curing, not the dog.
Every problem on the dog whisperer is caused by a bad owner in some way, and it's saddening to see when an owner clearly doesn't learn anything from the process

Mind, Cesar is treating what we could consider "problem-dogs", dogs with mild to severe problems like aggression. His techniques is used to correct undesirable behavior which would otherwise mean that the dog would have been put down. It also seems that the more severe the problem, the 'harsher' the techniques appear. But when it comes to puppies and dogs without problems, it seems he prefer to use a clicker.
@MsLabMom He is not harming the dogs. He is using techniques a dominant dog would use on a pack member if that pack member goes out of line. He is training them like he is an animal himself. Ever see a mom dog bite a pups neck and push them to the floor when the pup is doing something the mom considers undesirable? I have. And it works.

And if you would have any knowledge about dogs, you would know that if dogs get hurt, as you say they do in Cesars show, they cry out. There has never been a dog who have cried when he uses his methods. Young wolves, on the other hand, don't leave until they're at least 2 years old.

although I'd rather not give any attention to hysterical negativity, I'll address it just so I can say this: there's nothing anyone can do to make these naysayers see that the dogs that Cesar works with eventually come to love and respect him — there's no fear, abuse or other such nonsense. Hate is impotent, positive action can move mountains.
Thanks to Cesar's show I'm not afraid anymore from dogs. I was bitten several times as a child. I understand dogs better now and I'm doing to get a puppy and I'll try to train him so he will be a confident dog.
This guy is a fake! he makes it out this is all good for dogs when there are much better ways. was shocked to see how he deals with dogs! should be taken off the air all together. His methods are not dog friendly at all. You want to force them like him go for it but it definitely aint the way!!!!!
his techniques have not been 'proven' not to work. I use them with my own dog and I assure you they work long term. The correction techniques you speak of are just one element, exercise and discipline/boundaries and affection are a much bigger part of his rehabilitations.
@dmarten10 Do you not think that kicking, choking and shocking dogs is cruel? These antiquated methods have been proven to only work in the short term (ie for the duration of filming the TV show)
@tallykita sorry to interrupt but if you'd read his books or investigated his methods you would be able to see that kick is a correction kick not for warning.. as he explains it, the tensity level need a stronger kick this is an actual a physical fact because when you get tense, angry or frightened, your body release adrenaline. and that makes you feel every kind of effect lesser..
@tallykita and about the chocking thats a physical fact too.. when you have a dog that out of control you can't just grab him and wait till it calms down unless you're a body builder.. the blue rope he uses makes the adrenalin rush go away and makes the blood pumped slowed.. so that the god naturally calms down.. if you watch carefully you can see that he's not doing for that block the oxygen to go the brain so that the dog feels numb.. he does it to stop frenzy mode

I have an English Bulldog, and I love her so much, she is perfect (in my opinion), she sees other dogs as friends, and the ones that are smaller than she is, she likes to protect, she also loves cats and was use to my parents cat and cuddling with him.. but she thinks all cats want to play and cuddle.. hehehe

This has to be one of the most adorable videos I ever seen. Daddy (and of course Cesar) have taught Junior wonderfully. He has become another sterling ambassador of the APBT breed. I still can't believe he was denied access to several provinces in Canada. I am sick of BSL!! Junior - you are more than a pretty face. You epitomise everything that makes me love the APBT. I read his book "how to raise the perfect Puppy" and it really helped to clarify all of the training myths you hear from friends like "when he pees, spray his face with water". To say the least I have an APBT and he is now about 7 months old and still in tact. He has given us NO serious problems yet! He's been an absolute charm and my wife loves him, he already tries to protect her! I advise everyone who owns a dog, especially power breeds to read Cesar's books and learn to tame their strong dog

Thanks to Cesar's show I'm not afraid anymore from dogs. I was bitten several times as a child. I understand dogs better now and I'm doing to get a puppy and I'll try to train him so he will be a confident dog.

his techniques have not been 'proven' not to work. I use them with my own dog and I assure you they work long term. The correction techniques you speak of are just one element, exercise and discipline/boundaries and affection are a much bigger part of his rehabilitations.

@tallykita sorry to interrupt but if you'd read his books or investigated his methods you would be able to see that kick is a correction kick not for warning.. as he explains it, the tensity level need a stronger kick this is an actual a physical fact because when you get tense, angry or frightened, your body release adrenaline. and that makes you feel every kind of effect lesser..

@tallykita and about the chocking thats a physical fact too.. when you have a dog that out of control you can't just grab him and wait till it calms down unless you're a body builder.. the blue rope he uses makes the adrenalin rush go away and makes the blood pumped slowed.. so that the god naturally calms down.. if you watch carefully you can see that he's not doing for that block the oxygen to go the brain so that the dog feels numb.. he does it to stop frenzy mode

I have an English Bulldog, and I love her so much, she is perfect (in my opinion), she sees other dogs as friends, and the ones that are smaller than she is, she likes to protect, she also loves cats and was use to my parents cat and cuddling with him.. but she thinks all cats want to play and cuddle.. hehehe

This has to be one of the most adorable videos I ever seen. Daddy (and of course Cesar) have taught Junior wonderfully. He has become another sterling ambassador of the APBT breed. I still can't believe he was denied access to several provinces in Canada. I am sick of BSL!! Junior - you are more than a pretty face. You epitomise everything that makes me love the APBT. I read his book "how to raise the perfect Puppy" and it really helped to clarify all of the training myths you hear from friends like "when he pees, spray his face with water". To say the least I have an APBT and he is now about 7 months old and still in tact. He has given us NO serious problems yet! He's been an absolute charm and my wife loves him, he already tries to protect her! I advise everyone who owns a dog, especially power breeds to read Cesar's books and learn to tame their strong dog
