@DeadIslandTrailers basically the dmc progression peaked in 1999. 2000-2002 wasn't bad. but it seems after those years the routines dj's did got simpler and the scene went to more of a techno dubstep kinda sound. which was a horrible decision
@DeadIslandTrailers Ya its sad how the dj lost his spotlight in rap songs. The DJ is as important to the song as the MC. And a European influence probably helped in the change of Turntablism. And probably also because hip hop pretty much died in the 2000's so there were no more new classic jams to juggle or scratch with.
@DeadIslandTrailers That doesn't surprise me... Europeans will suck the soul out of anything... music, break dancing, America, Africa, etc. The dopest thing to ever come out of Europe (music-wise) was Kraftwerk.
grew up in philly. for yeaars you would fist fight over who was better jazz or cash, i was always a cash fan, people don't know that they were a team then they split up. they had a hand cuff back to back routiine. that was a killer, they would cut handcuffed behind their backs. cash still does it. they would also use pencils on the wheels to scribble scratch, cash"s style and intros incredible jazz's virtuosity incredible. yall ain't heard the best stuff yet. bless him and jazz.
boy this takes me back ....... I was there in the crowd this night..... he absolutely ripped the shit up...... one of the best sets and skills i've seen heard ..... made me definitely become a scratch dj ...... ca$h money rocks !!!!!
IM ONLY 27 BORN IN 83 BUT I DO ALOT OF REASEARCH OF THE ERA I WAS BORN IN IM A 80'S BABY ITS LIKE I HAVE TO LOL BUT HE DID WHAT DJ'S AINT DO AT THE TIME U HEARD SCRATCHING AINT NO ONE BRYNG THAT 2 THE TABLE LIKE THAT LOOK AT VIDEOS FROM A YEAR BEFORE OR IN 86 LIKE DJ CHEESE AND THEM AND AINT NONE OF THEM WAS DOIN THAT HE WAS SMASHING HEADS I SEEN A VIDEO OF SOME A COUPLE YEARS AGO AND HE WAS IN ANOTHER COUNTRY PLAYIN AS A CLUB DJ AND WAS JUGGLIN AND HE WAS SMASHING IT 2!
Most people know Cash Money today as some record label who brings you the shitty music today. This kind of Cash Money really brings skills to a whole new other level.
ou really need to see the whole competition in its full context. Cash Money was the best by a mile. Although there are technically much better, I was completely blown away by this and 20 years on it still sends tingles down my spine.....!!!!
ayo some of this is still quite dope. Especially that sucka boy break down he totally rearranged that phrase. "you callin me a sucka boy you sucka boy."Lets face it there many dj's out there that kant do half the shyt he was doin back in 88'. Def ahead of his time.
Yes Londonhousin! I was there, James Brown walked on stage and the roof came off! Whatever you think of this in '08 this was a pioneer who inspired the world and followed this win with a classic LP too (how many others did that?) still there, still dope and STILL one of the first DJs that comes to mind when you're listing 'legends who raised the game' CA-CA-CA$H!!
this is one of the top djs , he still rock it,, look and learn people, it about, style rhythm, selection of tunes,, originality,, these are the things that ,make a great dj,,, lots of djs now are lucky to have one of them,,,the man play the deck like an instrument, not over doing it,, no trying to go to fast,, just right,, to get the crowd rocking,,pure hip hop how it should be done,,,look up b boy kool herc ,,get some knowledge,,, fuck me u probley listern to radio 5 and think that kool pftt
@elsecre13 That's my homey!! Known him for for over 15 years; I have been over the crib countless times just watching him practice routines! Shit-he even did a few instrumentals for me and my man's when we did little local rap shows and what not! Cash lives not two minutes from my crib--I'm proud to call him a friend!
he even used headphones, it took him years to find the sound he scratched to. And when he did the lame turn around thing, the crowd went mad. WTF WS WRONG WHIT THESE PEOPLE ? if you see the video of DJ mick (not that good, but better than this lol) , no headphones, no lame bodytricks. And still..... this is lame
You are smoking crack and know absolutely nothing about battle deejays. Cash Money is one of the pioneers of body tricks, showmanship, and transformer scratcher. he is one of the greatest deejays of all time. He influenced so many people that came after including the great DJ Scratch (bit all his shit), Daddy Rich (Third Bass), Q-Bert, and many others. Your audacity is exceeded only by your ignorance. Go and comment on something you know about, such as buggery!
if any1 knows, what exactly is the progression of DMC tourneys each year?
as an EMCEE battling fan, I can tell you how each year rappers would improve
and basically the art itself progresses. But i haven't really listened to enough
DMC or scratching in general to understand if these Deejays get 'better' over the years.

@PhoenixBaller13
wow, that's quite a long time ago. sounds like a shame that they went
from pure scratching/hip-hop to the currently massively popular dubstep/electronic
style. perhaps it was european influence then that brought about this change?
although, now that i think about it, scratching/cuts were slowly phased out
from most rap songs in late 90s/early 2000s.
