Chuck would be saddly dissappointed by the majority of most of today's metal scene. Yea, there is still a lot of good Melodic Death Metal out there you just got to know where to find it.

chuck schuldiner is the best death metal guitarist. he knew more about composing which is why his solos just sound so much shreddier. most death guitarists do just try and hit a million chromatic notes and then dive bomb. chuck, ralph santolla and trey azagthoth are 3 who do not.

He was nowhere near groundbreaking for metal. Death, however, was. And so was Chuck Schuldiner. He basically founded Death metal, which he denied, however he was highly influential on the dm scene

Without Judgement makes me weep. There's been a massive hole in tech death since Chucks passing. There 's a lot of good stuff. Arch Enemy is close but Gossow sounds aggressive to Chuck's tortured yet defiant. Less jazzy time signatures. Gory Blister were wicked till they changed singers.
