@shredder731 I was talking about this band. black label is awesome but its heavier than this, this shit is like heavy metal music with a rock n roll singer. it's cool
this song is great! Zakk Wylde's guitar + Jeff Scott Soto's voice = greatness! not to mention a rhythm section of Jeff Pilson and Jason Bonham? forget about it ;-)
@Heavy13Metal13God Umm...no. Close though. This is a Black Label Society song, a band formed by Ozzy Osbourne's lead guitarist during his solo career.
How can a guitarist be over rated...he's a tremendous player who knows his shit and is capable of playing several different kinds of music. Infact I think its fair to say that Zakk has demonstrated far more diversity over his career than any of the players you've mentioned, especially Yngwie. Zakk is also one of very few modern(ish) era guitar players who have achieved their own sound instead of just doing a take on something that already exists.
Diversity? using a pitch harmonic every 4 seconds in a solo HAHAHAH. so how is that diversity? give me proof. more diversity then Yngwie. look at all of his influences...
how does he play different kinds of music... he only plays metal
OH and VV uses notes that no one really uses..so IDK what you mean about not using their own sound :/. oh and everyone was doing what Yngwie was?...only a few
you've just demonstrated to everyone that you dont know what you're talking about. you're judging Zakk Wylde when you've clearly only heard a small amount of his work. Check out the book of shaddows album, the pride and glory album or the acoustic Black Label Society album hangover music....Zakk is an outstanding country player and is very well versed in jazz too, he uses a lot of jazz licks in his solos
you've just demonstrated to everyone that you dont know what you're talking about." you just assume i only listen to his mainstream. Akria? you must only know him form his 84-88 LOUDNESS albums. not anything before, or when they style drasticly changed in the 2000's on when he was in Lazy, or his side stuff. VV, you wouldnt know the stuff he did to even call him on it.
You just one of those guys who thinks Zakk is god. your still not proving your argument if i dont know what im talking about :/
I have, you've just ignored it. I'm not the one pigeon holing anyone, you're the one that came out and said Zakk was over rated and 1 dimensional and haven't backed it up, I've given you several examples of how he isn't. I dont think anyone is God, I love music and have a lot of respect for all kinds of guitar players. You're a noob who thinks people will respect you more when you disrespect others, but you're the one incapable of structuring a rational argument, not me.
I didn't say anyone was over rated, what I said was Zakk was a more versitile player than what you were making out and in many ways more so than the guitarists you listed, which is true.
Whether you like someones music comes down to opinion, but hunting down a song that a certain guy plays on just to slag him off trying to preach your wisdom to your idea of "stereotypical Zakk fans" is hilariously lame.
IS that what i did? wow you know me so well. No actually i didnt. I did it for the movie, cause I only seen it once, and knew right away who was on it. :/ good try on that one
I didnt say you did say anyone was overrated...but to say Zakk is more versitile then who I listed..who is it true. AGAIN you dont know their stuff, When I've both listened to 90% of both of their stuff, as well as 75% of Zakks on my opinion. AND I BET you have not to make that opinion is all im stating
you state that you've listened to 75% of Zakk's stuff but earlier you said "all Zakk plays is metal".....so you haven't heard 75% of his music or you would know that he plays more than just metal.
The guitarist from my old band is a big Yngwie fan so I've heard a great deal of his stuff and I do like him, but he hasn't changed at all in over 20 years. I dont generalise as a rule, but Vinnie Vincent is another who has never shown versitility, this is not to say he...
..cant be versitile, and Akira, a bit harder to judge as I find his music boring, but he hasn't shown anything in his career suggesting he can switch between genres, though he does have a fantastic grasp of technique. Shredders often fall into the trap of being samey out of desperation to showcase their talents rather than writing songs and exploring genres. Again this isn't to say any of these guys are incapable of being different, but throughout their career, they haven't...
so generalizing them in general, and agian to think that u only listened ot a few of his albums..which you were knocking me on(which i havent) ...calling you out one something you said with your own words again
I didn't generalise at all, I went out of my way to say I wasn't generalising their ability, I was basing what I said on the music that they'd released and comparing it. I also didn't claim Zakk was a "better" guitarist, I said throughout his career he'd been more diverse in terms of exploring different genres and styles.
I dont have a favorite guitarist, I'm not 13 years old. All you keep doing is avoiding the subject which you initiated, you haven't backed ANYTHING up.
He can't be versatile? Try Pride and Glory. Book Of Shadows and switch to some of his newer stuff. Exploration? Yeah Zakk's done it. But this is what he likes now. Nice try though.
...shown it to the same degree as Zakk Wylde has. So in summary, you are wrong with every point you've tried to make about Zakk, and when I called you out on it you desperately tried to twist the conversation around about the other guys. Zakk isn't over rated from any possible angle...his music is hugely popular, he is capable of playing many different styles of music to a high level and he is a sound musician with the theory side of it. You're wrong. End of conversation.
Also you keep telling me I've said things that I just haven't said. If you're incapable of giving a reason why someone is over rated and one dimensional, dont accuse them of being it, because you're going to look like a dick when someone calls you out on it and you cant give a straight answer because you've been proven wrong.
just because he is best known for his metal work with Ozzy and BLS, that doesn't mean thats all he is capable of.
Yngwie has been playing the exact same type of music for years and years without showing any signs of progression or versitility, that doesn't mean he cant do it, I'm sure he can, but he has chosen not to. Zakk frequently demonstrates his musical repetoir and is deservedly considered one of the best living rock guitarsts in the world.
Zakk and the Evil twin I believe wrote this song, i remember reading something at the time, it was probably too heavy to put in the movie. Shame, this is a decent song, not Zakk's best but still good.
look, for anyone wanting this song down on their computer, just get youtube downloader. i got it and im telling you the quality is just as good as ANY OTHER mp3 format or whatever
what the hell are you on about?? I said nothing to that effect, all I said was (and remember it was an open question) did Zakk write all the songs or just the one and helped out with the rest? And btw Dokken suck fucking balls, ooh George Lynch I may just shit myself, get over it DIO is way better.
Actually this was written by Zakk, all the songs on in this movie were written by diff people (Sammy wrote Stand Up) and performed by 1 of 3 bands depending on who was supposed to be singing (Bobby Beers=Jeff Scott Soto, the guy from Steelheart=Chris Cole and and I think Brian Vanderark sung on colourful which he also wrote).
