  • Most romanians are idiots for giving food to the bear! Most romanians should be shot on sight for their stupidity. At specially those who go to the mountain for a barbecue and listening to turbo folk while they do that! Shot on sight, no remorse!

  • bears, beets, battlestar galactica

  • Look at him acting all cute to get some treats !

  • what a cutie :P lol

  • SINAIA IS THE NEW WEST COAST

  • it's very unrecommended what these people have just done.

  • Bears do not "receive" food from people, tourists or locals. They take it.They come to look for it in city and restaurants bins,in farmers courtyards etc.Last year we had a bear coming in central Brasov looking for food in a kitchen, through a window. They are protected animals and they thrive. The humans mean no danger to them anymore and they visit us for our juicy cooked food.Bears are great gourmands.

  • Bears are awesome and i'd happily take pictures and observe one from a safe distance, but when they start raiding human places, or going to people for free food, they are a nuisance. In my opinion they should be like most bears who've never seen a person, and keep their distance, but tourists mess that up I guess. Anyone who never sees them, will try to interact in one way or another, but they don't have to put up with the consequences year-round. So I guess it's ignorance.

  • eram de fatza cand s-a intamplat asta cei drept am facut 2 poze shi am plecat

  • You should ALWAYS ALWAYS feed the bears when ever possible! They're hungry people!!!!

  • oh stop being so self-righteous it's not the locals who "encourage" feeding the bears, it's the tourists - tourists of all nations I've seen it myself they feed them and take pictures, beside this region is a tourist attraction not some village in Ukraine

and yes we do have more bears than anywhere else we don't know what to do with them anymore

  • i love romania and germany

  • yea and after tis the killd the him

  • really?

  • no but in gemany you get kill wen you a Brown bear!

  • It was not killed!

  • When we saw a bear later in the day around the hotel complex all the local dogs formed a pack and were attacking it, the waiters were throwing stones and there was a sustained effort to discourage the bear from the vicinity. This almost backfired for us, as the dogs had got the bear in somewhat of a fury and it was directly between us and our car. Fortunately stones from a waiter encouraged caused it to pause and we legged it past and out of the bear's route.

  • However, for the residents, staff and owners of the restaurants and hotel in the vicinity the bears are a real nuisance. When a bear sees people and decides to approach them for food there is a very real risk that people will get attacked. These are big animals. Obviously this is bad for business and allied problems such as raiding bins add to this.

  • A saw totally wild bear in slovakia in '98. It was awesome. I feel really sorry for this bear in the vid. What a crap life, its predictable how it will end. We had that problem in Central Australia with the dingos in the 80s. Despite signage, ranger patrols and regular bite incidents tourists (often encouraged by their tour guides) kept feeding the wild dingos. It took the whole 'dingo ate my baby' mess to get it through to people that feeding wildlife is really really stupid.

  • well romanians love animals and bears ..the real problem is that bears multiply by 500 a year ...so there is no room for them ....thats why they live near citys ...someone said that on a street in brasov lived more bears than germany, czech republik and slovenia combined

  • I'm not convinced. I'm told in the Ukraine the bear population is similar to Romania but nobody feeds them so they don't go near towns. If everywhere had the bear population of Germany- they'd be extinct! It'd be great if Romania could be proud of their wildlife without encouraging predictably bad situations through feeding. As a potential tourist to Romania I'd pay to see a bear wild in the woods, but I'd avoid somewhere they feed them out of trash cans...

  • the bad thing is that that the bears live near to some of the finest turist resorts in romania where local and foreign tourists flock in great numbers ...so it's imposible to avoid human bear contacts considering their number ..also many tourists foreign and local are feeding bears ...mostly foreign tourists that never saw a bear...the locals in thise parts are annoyed of this ...srry bad english

  • @davazno1 Yes, this is true ! It's about "Jepilor Street" here in Brasov :)

  • and you don't have to pay to see bears here ...they are a very common sight in those parts ...some said that indeed romania helds the largest pop of bears in europe and they are protected .other countrys refused to accept them because they have no room ,no proper habitat for them...in romania thanks to the economic crisis the construction in bear habitat has somehow halted

  • This day and our sightings of bears illustrated the tensions in the area. Romania has the highest density of bears in Europe due to the hunting ban imposed during the Ceauşescu era. Consequently bears tend to have little fear of humans. When tourists encounter a bear they are first wary, then decide the bear is not a threat and begin to interact, usually based on giving it food, or pretending to. Bears are intelligent and a source of food obtained by sitting around by a road will be exploited.

  • As ecologists we were aware already of the problems of animal/human interaction. Consequently we did not feed the bear or try to interact with it.

  • idiots. feeding a bear.

  • Cool!!

  • a big one :)
