I have no problem with people smoking. What really pisses me off is when people just throw their butts on the ground. Everywhere I go there are butts on the ground and it really makes a beautiful place ugly.
This ban just stinks of the anti-smoking lobby and their social engineering agenda. I can't believe that the morons in the Oakland city council are retarded enough to believe anti-smoking lobby claims that someone smoking 15 feet from a building is "killing people".

No real difference in practical terms between regulating marijuana & marijuana products & regulating tobacco & tobacco products. Unless the Supreme Court were to radically change direction on this issue a federal ban on cigarettes would probably pass constitutional muster. To say that the fed government has the power to ban marijuana, but not cigarettes, is inconsistent; if it has the power to ban 1, it has the power to ban both.
Yeah, right smoking is soooo much worse than stealing from a store. Enjoy the nazi anti-smoking laws. Now try to enforce them. I don't smoke but I don't care if other do and if it bothers me I go to another place or ask the smoker to stop. And image this no one has ever not stopped smoking when I have asked. I just wasn't a jerk about it and I didn't run to mommy government.
