  • Excellent video. Very concise. Thank you for uploading it.

  • Honestly did not expect him to be that down to earth. He seems awesome :)

  • I have the Line 6 with the "Bogner" added designed tube amp, and I have to say its the best I've owned so far, bur I am not by any means completely satisfied either. For a budget its hard to beat, but the modeling is actually what I like the least about them. I also had a Rocktron multi-effects unit and it lasted less than 1 year before dying on me, not impressed.

  • So he has a custom amp. He still only uses one. And custom pickups come with a custom guitar my friend. I thought that would have been common knowledge. ;)

  • come on Dave..don`t fool us...you NEVER EVER use Line 6 Crap for Real..

  • @Slears why? there is nothing wrong with Line 6. (If its not a Line 6 Spider)

  • @Slears You obviously don't know what you're talking about. This is a very high end line 6. The people on Ultimate Guitar, snobs, and haters think all L6 are Spiders, which are the low end models.

  • @BucksStudent o.k. I play Guitar 15 Years now..and in that Time I`ve tested many many Amps..and the Line 6 were always the worst (beside Mesa btw)..no Punch..no defined Tone..they make really good Effects but Amps..no...o.k. I am kind of a Sound Purist and try a lot of things..so right now I play 2 Custom Made Heads that sound extremly unique and not like Standard-from-the-Shop-Amps..but as allways..this is just a matter of personal Taste ;o) If u like Line 6 it`s o.k. Buddy!

  • @Slears whats wrong with Mesa? the Mark V is like the best amp ive ever tried beside Fortin Bones

  • @Slears with all that being said, are you in megadeath? are you dave fucking mustaine? no. you are nothing. if dave uses a line 6, its because the rig is fucking amazing. your opinion about the company doesnt make the company better or worse, nor does it make you dave mustaine, so why bother?

  • @EnslaveTheEmos yeah..and Metallica are using..ESP Guitars in the Studio..right?! hahaha..come on..know your facts..but I don`t bother at all..if u like Line 6 it`s fine Buddy..

  • @Slears hes not the only big name using line 6. i have no preference, i just see actual guitarists in actual bands using their gear, and when some youtube guitarist comes along and bashes the company, i just laugh.

nergal in behemoth has an ESP series guitar, and he uses it all the time. go tell that actual musician his guitar sucks, best do it through a youtube comment.

  • @EnslaveTheEmos o.k. whatever you say.. I am not going to argue here on youtube..and again... If u like Line 6 it`s o.k. I`ve tested a few..but didn`t like any..and I`ve never said ESP Guitars suck..I´ve 2, and really love them..

  • @BucksStudent Exactly. Frederik Thordendal of Meshuggah has been using a Line 6 Vetta head for years and has amazing tone!

  • QVC!!!!!

  • Dave has a nice rack.

  • he endorses a bunch of shit

  • never realized how big of a loser he is. holy

  • What a piece of shit, nothing special. Just boring...

  • @04GUITARPLAYER04 I know what you ment i was just joking. Don't do drugs.

  • @yamahabmxer1 sorryy i was pissed when i replied i get the joke

  • @04GUITARPLAYER04 Doesn't matter:)

  • @04GUITARPLAYER04 Another kid overusing curse words. If you're going to cuss someone out, use them right. Otherwise, it damn sounds fuck like bitch this.

  • line 6 dose sound better than marshall

  • @MetalGivesUWings love ur name and its more a matter of preference, like how i PREFER Line 6 over Marshall

  • keep it simple... i like that dave, just like van halen...

  • I love how much he bad mouths Marshall here, and now he's back to using those Marshall El34 100/100 power amps.

  • dave said line 6 sounds better than marshall? HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHHAHA i died now....

  • Dave and Chris are both on AxeFX last I saw.

  • i have a line 6 spider 3 15 wats 8 inch amp and it's the best amp that i ever had

  • @samlefreak you havent tried out many amps then :P

  • he could have been a saleman

  • Im sure Dave now uses Axe Fx now...so no more talking line 6 up hahah

  • @AOSoloist Mesa Boogie

  • now that he is with marshall, "marshall sounds a lot better than line 6"

  • Mustaine is such an endorsement hoar - he will literally say anything is best as long as he's being paid and given free stuff. He now uses marshall again and has gone on record to say Line 6 is shit. He loved Jackson...then hated them and moved to Washburn... then hated Washburn and wanted to buy Jackson (!)... then loved ESP... then really hated them... now loves Dean and... Cannot wait to see how long that lasts. I'd be the same though probably. Very lucky.

  • @bigbiggedybigman lol at least u admitted ud be the same...if i was given free shit id do watever, although if i was as succusful of a musician as dave i probably wouldnt give a shit which brand gives me stuff and just use wat i like...at least hes using the v his entire career, dean didnt have that shape of v before so thts cool at least.

  • @bigbiggedybigman He never hated ESP, its just that Dean gave him a better deal

  • @awsomejustin8 no the v he had was a bit smaller then his models he been playing before and he just didn't like that so he left and dean asked him to come

  • @freeridergarrett I read somewhere that he had said "After two successful years, I have decided to leave ESP guitars. This was a business decision and had nothing to do with the guitars or the manufacturing of the guitars, and I wish the staff of ESP, both in the USA and in Japan and Korea the very best of health and prosperity. Meanwhile, I am taking my Classic Metal V known formerly as a Jackson King V1 or an ESP DV8..."

  • @bigbiggedybigman

Honestly, if Jackson wasn't bought out by Fender, he'd probably would still be with them.

  • And now he's like, "I can now take 20 Axe-fx vs the Line 6 and they sound better."

  • hes back to marshalls now lol

  • Noobie question, what goes into a rack?

  • @HandRpuffin Whatever you want... some companies make rack units with studio quality fx, some others make rack units with an individual effect... you can also throw pre and power amps, full amp heads and even single stompboxes... generally all of these processors are controlled by a single foot controller via MIDI that bridges all of the processors and triggers different presets within each one at the same time.

  • flanger rules!

  • i see a 5150 and a krank revolution, if you make me choose krank beat the shit out of the 5150

  • @Dfiend92 oh please don't say bullshit! that acid-sound krank cannot be compared to that 5150. the 5150 is one of the most evil sounding amplifier and it's simply awesome. more gain doesn't mean a better amp.

  • @gibsonairborne more gain or more money? krank is 1600 dlls, 5150 are available used in about 500 dlls, thats a big difrence. if you cant afford krank just shut the fuck up i got a krank rev plus, and also i own an engl savage too

  • @Dfiend92 i got an 5150 instead. before buying the 5150 i tried sooo many different amps, even some kranks (i think that rev plus one) and i found it a acid-sounding amp. the 5150 completely blow my mind. it's a fucking great amplifier, with a really devil sound. btw i payed my 5150 1000 dlls. more money (like more gain) doesn't mean a better amp. check out LAA custom, an italian artisan that make a handmade 100W head for 2000 euros and it's1000 better than a mesa rectifier that costs 2600 euros

  • Dave you endorse everything.

But you're an amazing guitar player and you obviously know your stuff.

  • Dave mustaine knows his gear. Unlike Kirk who is like: i have this one hollow guitar that i wanted to fill with my piss...that would be cool

  • @MajkeTiTvoje Why waste your time knowing all the technical terms when just playing is so much mroe fun. Technical is boring. Pissing in a hole on your guitar is interesting. :)

  • @Reed0Sparky0Leighton yeah, it totally makes your tone better

  • @MajkeTiTvoje I wouldnt know. I dont do it. But I dont waste time knowing all the technicalities of all my shit either. I just play it.

  • @Reed0Sparky0Leighton thats ok, but only if you play something like crust punk or oldschool black metal. Dude, guitar tone matters

  • @MajkeTiTvoje Of course it does. But why waste your time knowing all this worthless knowledge when you can keep it simple and the tone sounds wonderful. When I play clean. I just use pick ups and my amp. No need for complication. Just keep it simple.

  • @Reed0Sparky0Leighton if it sounds so good to you, seek no further. But i always like to try out different gear.

  • @MajkeTiTvoje I have several different pieces of gear from several different companies. That still doesnt change the fact that the true sound comes from the player and his attitude while playing. Steve Vai said that mister man.

  • @Reed0Sparky0Leighton yeah, steve vai, who has more signature pieces of gear than any other guitarist and the most distinctive and recognizable guitar tone ever

  • @MajkeTiTvoje Actually he only is known for his signature guitars and his one signature pedal with Ibanez. But his set up is still simple. All his tone comes from his pick ups. He uses like 8 pedals and then a couple amps that are split mic'd.

  • @Reed0Sparky0Leighton he designed the pickups with dimarzio. and the amp is also his signature series from carvin

  • @MajkeTiTvoje Who gives a shit the guy has money to do that

  • @STEALMAN83 money? you need a hollow guitar made of plastic and at least one functioning kidney

  • @MajkeTiTvoje and also like i have to rape my wah pedal to make something sound cool since i can't do anything else

  • @Sean2592 well atleast he plays better than me :D

  • @Sean2592 is that a quote from kirk hammett?

  • Dave Mustaine is very lucky to be 50 and still have rockstar hair!!

    Unlike James and Lars

  • @greatxssassin1 He paid by killing his brain with drugs. But yeah, nice hair lol

  • that's why I like him

just the comparison: Metallica Gear Tour... some fuckin guy is making the soundcheck and telling some things about the amplifiers....

Dave Gear Tour: Dave is telling everyting about his sound and his amplifiers... in person!!!

    he's just good...

  • oohh ooohhhh I see 5150 and Krank!!!!

  • There all mine and you can't have any!!

  • while hes talking to the camera, you see me in the background jacking that 5150 and krank amp

  • LOL Dave doesnt even use Line6 anymore. He says there were not "road worthy" and he had to many issues with them touring. Hes back with Marshall.

  • @jessewalker17 He's actually using an Axe-FX processor along with marshall power amps.

  • Dave uses marshall pre amps again. He left line 6 a long time ago.

  • "the line 6 sounds better than marshall"

"the line 6 is modelled after a 1967 marshall"

  • @zealberg I caught that too. I think what he means is that Line 6 has taken the 67 Marshall and improved on it. Either that or he's stoned. Or maybe both. lol

  • @zealberg Are you critcizing him or are you a sales rep for line 6?

  • @zealberg modeled on a 67 marshall not a copy of it!

  • im a V guitar player and a Marshall guy and I love megadeth !

  • Dave is a Marshall guy through and through. He may screw around with other gear every now and then, like this video, but eventually he always returns to Marshall.

When I think of Dave Mustaine I think of a King V into a Marshall. THAT'S Megadeth.

  • Line-6 Plexi model is what I use! They make great amps too!

  • there's a setting called "Megadrive"? fuck, get me one

  • I bet it would be hard to be his guitar tech. Dave knows exactly what he wants his guitar to sound like. It's awesome to see a guitarist care so much about his sound quality

  • I'm glad he knows his gear really well, everything that's going on back there. That's the difference between him and shit guitarists who have no idea what's going on with their setup and let their tech do it all.

  • in a newer vid all he talks about is marshall

  • really fairly simple then what i thought it would be. I wonder what he uses that 5150 for? anyone know

  • @Sean2592 yeah i also wonder what he uses the krank for , the 5150 is probably one of the best heads ive ever played, so much bass and gain!

  • U can clearly see the honest to every ounce of sincerity of the love U have for your craft. Brilliant! So happy for all the success u've had with Megadeath Dave. U've touched & inspired so many of us. Stupendous! :D

  • You can clearly see the honest to every ounce of sincerity for the love you have for your craft. Brilliant! I am so happy for all the success you've had with Megadeath Dave. You've touched & inspired so many of us. Stupendous! :D

  • im glad he went back to analog after the united abominations saga. In my opinion digital effects and distortion build a wall for personality in ones playing. I would only use them for practicing, not live.

  • hahahaha, he's my god: "this amp was especially for me as a dave mustaine signature model that there are considering to introduce, if not, they're all mine and you can't have any" Hahahahahaa, what a genius.

  • I love the way he's like "It's pretty self explanatory which is one of the things I love about the simplicity of using this amps"

....There's literally like a hundred cables going into that thing

  • aw fuck!! what the hell line 6s are only good for fucking with the neighbors.... marshalls are for the whole block. also line 6s distortion seems to have a bit too much fuzz

  • Line 6 must have lost their shit when they found out Dave Mustaine was using their stuff LOL!

  • Dave sure knows how to sell his shit xD

  • I have a hard time to believe those line 6 sound better then Marshall ??

  • @jfgirard14 Well it was customized for Dave by Dave so to his ear it sounds better. I guess the marshalls were lacking in an area he felt he needed therefore he thinks it sounds better. Even if that's not true think about it: The line6 amps available to us normal people would never sound as good as the marshalls available to us. But if it's customized for an icon like Dave it probably is head and shoulders above any other line6 product.

  • @jfgirard14 shittt. marshall sounds lame to me. not enough gain

  • @ThatBigMetalhead

Really? How much gain do you need? JVM's have stupid levels of gain...if that isnt enough for a person they are doing something wrong.

  • @jfgirard14 guitar sound is like 90% opinion and I think we both know Dave is an opinionated guy. That's what he thinks...so be it

  • 6:24 the piece of gear he didnt want to mention that failed and was painted so it couldnt be easily repaired was a CAE Bob Bradshaw switcher.

  • All you people keep talking about how you can "never beat a vintage Marshall", but Megadeth don't have a warm, fuzzy tone because they're not a warm, fuzzy band. Get with it.

  • You can have all the fancy amps, effects and shit in the world but at the end of the day it still wont beat a vintage Marshall.

  • @tgrules565 As if you've played them all.

  • @arcuz92 Actually I have played plenty of vintage amps. Vox, Fender, Marshall etc and they sound great, especially old Vox amps. But for rock music an old Marshall with fresh tubes and a shit load of volume will throw any Line 6 off the boat.

  • He talks like he built the thing and wrote all the software and developed the hardware.

  • it's funny how he jumps from one opinion to another, first he likes marshall, then he says that some shitty line6 is better and right now he's playing a marshall again

  • @Aquaboy99 so he vacillates?

  • im lost on all this stuff why dont they use an amp head and cabinets?

  • @mmim4 They don't use heads cause they move around too much, so he has a separate preamp and poweramp nowadays. If you look on the newer video by harmonycentral where the techs talk about Dave Jr., Chris, and Dave's setups, you can see that some of them use different brands of preamp (e.g. digitech) and then separate power amps (Marshall in Chris and Dave's cases). Basically racks allow for power conditioners, switches for the guitars, processors/preamps, and poweramps, plus portability

  • is the amp being sold to the public?

  • @ryanchatfield1313 I love my Line6! I have a Spider 4 HD 150 and have never been sorry I bought it. I know it's digital and there are problems with that but I also do NOT have to get into the amp hard to get the sweet sounds of a tube amp. That is what they will not tell you about when you get tube amps~ you must crank it to get those tones. That's kind of hard to do with the wife and kids at home. Also, Monster is great stuff. I used to deal with it exclusive when I did home theatre installs!

  • line 6 better than the legendary marshall 9200????

  • how does he figure that the line 6's sound better when they're modled on the marshalls, wtf?

  • @Cyanide5151 "modelled ... with some other plug ins"

    done

  • @Cyanide5151 He didn't say they sound more like the Marshalls than the Marshalls, he just said they sounded better. Could mean anything.

  • @Cyanide5151 it may be modeled but they wont sound exactly ecactly alike

  • It's nice to see a "guitar god" take the time to explain his setup, himself. A friend of mine met Dave and said he was the most personable person that he ever met. He said Dave actually listened to him when he talked.

  • IF DAVE PLAYS LINE 6s THEN I SHOULD TOO! :D

  • meow meow meow :P

  • good thing he switched back to marshalls.

  • @thojyout23 good thing he vacillates

  • IM FROM DERBYSHIRE :D:D:D:D:D:D

  • @Smit2k11 Me too!

  • the guys such a dude!

  • yet another reason why dave fuckin rocks. he knows his gear. not like some musicains that say "plug me in" to the roadies and leave it at that. he takes the time to master his shit.

  • Why does everyone hate on Line 6? They make it really easy/cheap for beginner guitarists to get both good variety and good quality sound

  • line 6 is pretty good, i have a small line 6, if i plug it on my old rusted 400 watts amp, it really sounds like, omg.

  • He seems like such a nice guy! I recon he'd be great to have a beer with.

  • @xavierf1979 yeah, but not too much beer... haha

  • dudes i hate to tell you but line 6 makes good gear...they are obviously the amp equivalent to wal mart, but they are putting out some good stuff...don't hate on em' unless u have one...the bogners are very nice and the spider models are bringing new metal guitarists into the scene daily...

  • haha i love him

  • Dave is great, but can he possibly get any more plugs in?

  • im a personal fan of line6 amps but im looking to switch over to Marshall when were talking half stacks

  • awwww dave love's anything that is "MINE"

  • Good job he went back to Marshall, Line 6 is pretty terrible.

  • line 6 is simple to use

  • What were the products at 4:13 and 4:36 ? Thanks

  • @TheMosseh

    It's Shure wireless reciever units.

  • @poppo118 Cheers mate

  • I dig the fact that nto only does Dave actually KNOW what the hell's in his rig, but how it works and how it's wired....the mark of a TRUE "profrssional musician". Lots of guys reach a certain level of success, and completely forget what the hell they're using or REQUIRE a tech to sort it out.

  • Ohhhh shit. Im from Derbyshire. Dave Mustaine frekin recorded United Abominations in my county.

  • I am a HUGE Dave Mustaine/Megadeth fan but I have been noticing that he contradicts himself alot. im sure he doesnt meant to but he just said Line 6 sounds better than the Marshalls yet he modeled the Line 6 amps to sound like Marshalls...Hmmmm. I want that Rocktron processor!!!! Its only $1300.00!!!

  • @Dynamus79 the new mg series aren't that great unlike the older ones

  • when you're an endorsee, you generally enhance your company ^^.

  • He uses Marshall now too. What a douche

  • yeah im guessing he got endorsement and then couldn't get out of it till contract was over, I mean I doubt mustaine accually thinks that line 6s sound good

  • @aswesee each player has his own opinion on what pleases his or her ears. line 6 is quite good for simulation a heavier marshall tone
