  • I know there were different kinds of foghorns; the diaphone; the nautophone, the tyfon, Supertyfon, Daboll Trumpet, airchime, Tannoy, reed trumpet, fog whistle, fog siren, omnidirectional signal stack, steam whistle, Rayleigh Trumpet, and the classic two-tone diaphone.

  • Is a nautophone and a diaphragm the same thing?

  • well I am new to learning about fog horns myself this year but a nautophone is an electric powered horn that sounds like a car horn much smaller then an old fog horn usually a diaphone which uses a slotted piston that is also undulated to produce a very powerful sound and usually ends in a grunt or in a two tone a shorter deeper town with the classic roooo ruuut. there are also ones that use a diaphram that uses disks vibrating together like your train horn or truck horn does.

  • Better look out 007. that Russians on your heals again.

  • engines sound sick!

  • Great vid, thabks for sharing. Nautophone fog horn?

  • I believe the lighthouse has a pair of electric FA232 type foghorns that operate continuously ( I am guessing they are a type of nautophone horn)
