  • god this scene is so damn good

  • These types of scenes are where Apatow really stands out.

  • Woooah, he could be his son 1:20... How similar do they look? His mum was single as well...

  • I FUCKING LOVE BILL HAVERCHUCK!!!

  • this isn't that sad

bill's having the time of his fucking life which is more than i can usually say for myself.

    i can't knock that hustle.

  • @Bidoofbi you seem like the typical fucking cunt that was portrayed on this show as someone perfect.....how long after graduation till you peaked at life.......fuckin dickwad...SWALLOW A KNIFE

  • @Bidoofbi um. I just saw most of your favorites on your channel.. hahaa and you call these people dorks

  • This is me everyday after school.

  • What kinda jokes is that guy pulling off ? They must be epic.

  • MOOD OF THE YEAR

  • AWESOME SONG!!!

  • This scene is pure poetry. It expresses Bill's solitude so beautifully. And The Who in the background is perfect.

  • Awww, Bill is so endearing. He's adorable.

  • It's crazy how people can just.. treat other human beings like fucking Trash. It's absolutely disgusting. I'm also just a massive hypocrite. I say to myself that I think of everyone as an equal, but I sometimes find myself to be treating others better than other people, just because of their status. What the fuck is wrong with me, and the people who do that to others? God, it makes me angry that I did that, and other people STILL do it today. I try not to do it, but.. it's such.. a weird feeling

  • @Gridlock471 so fucking true, i feel the exact same way, i cant understand what is wrong with other people but i am just as guilty and a i loathe myself for it

  • Thanks for posting this. My favorite scene from my favorite tv show. My vote for the best minute and a half of tv ever.

  • This and the seven minutes in heaven scene are my favorites from the whole series and Bill is my all time favorite t.v. character...I just barely watched the series for the first time and I get sad thinking about what could have been...such a great show.

  • This is exactly how I looked when I watched Freaks and Geeks

  • WHO DA FUCK DILIKED THIS?

  • Oh wow, I have that same star wars glass. Burger King, ~1982.

  • One of the best moments from one of the best shows ever made!!!!!!! Thanks!!!

  • The house reminds me of Napoleon Dynamite

  • the best

  • that's me.

  • @hugeackman The you are cool, my friend

  • i think bil would have grown up to become a seinfeld-eee type comedian

  • Haverchuck makes one badass grilled cheese

  • The beginning makes me cry a little inside, but then he starts laughing I and become happy again<3

  • What a great show. I'm so pleased that TeenNick is showing Freaks and Geeks late night. I finally caught the pilot episode and the second one last night. Now I've just got to line them up. I'm enjoying the show and all the characters immensely.

  • I have a huge crush on Martin Starr.

  • Best tv character ever<3 He's seriously so cute. This scene makes me smile. (': He just looks so happy. I love him

  • i totally imagine Judd Apatow like this when he was young

  • Reminds me of what I would do when I got home from school.... watch comedy until my stomach hurt.

  • I'm a little in love.

  • Haverchuck makes a damn good grilled cheese. It's not even burnt.

  • Bill is one of the best TV characters ever!

  • I fuckin love Bill.

  • this puts a huge grin on my face!

  • LUV THIS BILL IS LIKE THE BEST!!!!!

  • This reminds me of how I get home from school, I have that same table. I love this show!

  • @pabloar It's "I'm the one" By The Who

  • song?

  • ahh inside the mind of Bill... pretty epic

  • this is perfect

  • Best scene to ever air on television, period.

  • That was Judd Apatow wasn't it??

  • @Blaxdon Garry Shandling.

  • @atlscribe Not the stand up guy I "know" who Gary Shandling is I have hbo I was talking about who Bill ( the latch-key kid at home alone represented). I have a theory this could've been Judd in high school @ some point. I could be wrong though

  • @Blaxdon I think he just represents any maladjusted social outcast who finds some sort of comfort and normality in doing what he personally loves as opposed to what society pressures him to do or expects from him. Notice the lyrics of the soundtrack song. Anyway, I'm a hardened thug and a career criminal, but this shit just warms the cockles of a niggas heart. Nah'mean?

  • @atlscribe lol respect same here go figure

  • 3 persons are alergic to yellow cheese? O_o

  • I love Bill so much, I wish I knew a Bill when I was growing up... <3

  • @candicegalvez0987 I know. He would be the best buddy ever to have

  • bill rocks man

  • Clearly the best scene from the show.

  • Greatest Show Ever! It makes me sad they only made 18 episodes. Bill by FAR was my favorite character (besides Daniel and Nick <3 ). He is SO FREAKING ADORABLE!!! I loved this scene! I started watching the series with my friend over spring break and we loved it =D

  • Martin Starr was and is a phenomenal soulful actor. Just look at that face! This is the exact moment I fell in love. Creepy?

  • @HomerSimpsonberg if it was 1:08 then yes lol

  • I think this is, by far, one of the top three scenes of this series. The character of Bill was just so sweet, and awkward.

  • I truly appreciate Bill as a character. I think we all have a little Haverchuck inside of us.

  • one of my favourite scenes. love it so much. cryfest happens everytime.

  • I can relate more to this scene than anything else I've ever seen ever.

  • @PantsRocket I know what you mean. It's almost shocking in how it pierces the geek soul

  • @PantsRocket Exactly :)

  • I think this scene sums up my and a lot of other peoples experience in high school. I didn't have many friends, got teased a lot but i remember coming home everyday after school and watching tapes of SNL, SCTV and who's line is it anyway, and all the suckiness went away.

  • @redsoxfan1 thats what u get for being a red sox fan

  • @redsoxfan1 This is my favorite Youtube comment, ever. It makes me appreciate a clip I love even more and it makes me reflect on my own experience and affection for good TV.

  • @redsoxfan1 For some odd reason, you put a smile on my face. :)

  • Greatest show ever?

  • SWALLOW! SWALLOW IT!

  • in one of the commentaries, apatow said they were behind the camera telling martin starr dirty jokes to make him laugh for this scene hahah :)

  • Comment removed

  • Love this scene, Haverchuck is king.

  • now i want a grilled cheese.

  • Love this scene so much. Apatow on Marc Maron's podcast said it was the scene that was the most personal to him in Freaks and Geeks.

  • One of my favorite scene's in the entire series!

  • This is such a beautiful scene. I really can't figure out why it makes me want to cry every time I watch it...

  • @Changeitupnow makes me smile every time i see it. Bill was my favorite character.

  • @Changeitupnow Me too! The first time i saw it, i wanted to cry too and rewatching it is the same way.

  • @Changeitupnow because it's so real

  • hey, whats the name of the song? i hear its pete townsend... but is he solo or is it the who? a warm and happy moment this scene is. makes me feel happy

  • @MercyfulFate The song is called "I'm One" and it is on Quadrophenia by The Who.

  • This is probably my favorite scene of the whole show. I can really relate to it.

  • @NeoNaziMexcanJew you sound cool.

  • he's such a tard HAHAHAA

  • Bill is my hero

  • this scene made me fall in love with bill. he's such a sweetie

  • I just found this show recently, and it was this scene that hooked me. My single-mom in the early 80's taught school and night school 3 nights a week leaving me home alone with step-daddy TV.

Reading over all the comments in which people expressed the such intimate sympathy with this scene makes me wonder why didn't we all hang out together?

  • This is me, every day of my life

  • BEST. SHOW. EVER

  • now that is a classic meal...

    get at me

  • Thanks for posting. The show went beyond just TV to real art. The fact that it is about just about teenagers in that specific period in cultural history keeps people from acknowleding that.. The writing, acting, editing and vision that went into that single segment is outstanding.

  • I honestly think this is one of the greatest television scenes of all time. Funny, and deeply sad at the same time. Add the music in there, and I can't think of any other show that got that (very common) set of circumstances just exactly right. Even the details of the mediocre food he was eating added to the emotion of it. I was choked up and in awe when I first saw it broadcast.

  • Its scenes like this that made the show so great, he was a geek and his days could be rough particularly in this episode but he finds so much happiness watching shandling. Just a wonderful show

  • Martin Starr and The Who! Does It Get Any Better!

  • All who are Freaks and geeks fans should check out Marc Marons interview with Judd Apatow bout it ;)

  • I am bill, bill is me, we is we.

  • exactly what being a geeky latchkey kid is like. beautiful scene.

  • I'd totally be Bill's friend.

  • aww, sh*t. i knew a few kids like him. this is sad.

  • adorable :D <3 loved seeing him on Adventureland!

  • This makes me want to cry for some reason, it must be the song. great scene

  • they should make a full length movie freaks and geeks ... be like a high school reunion and have the whole what they ended up being kind of thing.

  • @TheRealRussG it's a pretty cool idea, but those types of things never turn out the way you want, and will most likely end up ruining the show. I hate the way it ended because I felt like there was a lot left to be done, but it's better then ending a crappy way which leaves you let down. Oh well i guess.

  • Absolutely perfect scene. Chills.

  • i like this scene. very human. innocent too.

  • BILL = MY FAVORITE FUCKING CHARACTER GOD DAMN!

  • martin spilling the crumb and watching it fall is the best moment in my life

  • Dinah Shore, obviously.

  • This is one of the best scenes in the entire series.

  • a friend of mine is like bill, aside from being smart...but all the awkward-ness is completely there. the glasses too

  • The real reason Bill was never allowed to take off his glasses is because we'd be blinded by his profound hotness and wouldn't be able to concentrate on the character. Just look up martin starr on google now. He's hot.

  • @Rori4evaa

XD He actually is pretty good looking in real life.

  • totally eating grilled cheese now!

  • now who doesn't see a bit of themselves in this scene? We all have our moments like this, that's why its great.

  • It is Garry Shandling he's watching, on Dinah Shore. I have to keep remembering this when I'm watching, that it's supposed to be 1980! :) very touching scene

  • Music name?

  • @motoBeast

    The Who - I'm One

  • my sister always thought this was a sad scene because hes alone, i guess i can see it where it could be taken that way

  • @GTH8991 It is, if you think about it, wouldn't he be watching something like this with his dad?

  • houses dont look like this anymore

  • What a great show. It's a shame that only lasted 1 season. I'm a huge Who fan also.

  • Awww, Bill's the greatest. This scene gets me every time.

  • I wonder who clicked unlike

  • I cried like a baby when I watched this the first time!!!!!

  • it is very moving

  • this is simply brilliant. Glad to see so many people saw this scene as the masterpiece this is!!!

by the way thank you Paul Feig for both The Office and Freaks and Geeks

  • The Dinah Shore Show

  • I just think that Bill is the best karakter!! so funny!

  • @chaking95 well this was was so amazing. Both Freaks and Geeks made this show what it was but out of all the talent, Martin Starr really made the other rise to his level

  • Haha, I was just watching this episodes. Such a BRILLIANT scene. Amazingly beautiful and touching. It's amazing. Whoever is behind this deserves an award or something.

  • i cried

  • @WallaWallaIsForLove Of joy?, i thought this was heartwarming?

  • Does anyone know what show Bill was watching in this scene? The whole scene is brilliant.

  • @lightprincess89 I think he's just watching a random stand-up show of Garry Shandling.

  • @lilyisreal NO! That is the Dinah Shore show! COME ON.

Shandling was that days' comic guest.

  • @BBKlima I know that now!

  • @lightprincess89 I wonder too..I've asked around and ppl are sure this is not Shandling. Well I won't rest until i find who this is

  • @lightprincess89 I would say The Dinah Shore Show as I can just see her greet him for a second. I am floored at Shandling's teeth at that time.

  • @steffap you are totally right, It is Dinah Shore. I love those types of afternoon talk shows. Such brilliant people...

  • @lightprincess89 Gary Schandling on the Dinah Shore Show

  • @lightprincess89 he's watching garry shandling appearing on dinah shore

  • so cute, best character. bring back freaks and geeks

  • This is the best of freaks and geeks. no scene can compare.

  • I love this scene

  • 1:05 lol

  • he is so freaking adorable! ugh I wish I could just steal him!!

  • the 40 year old virgin got the same scene...hahaha

  • ahahaha....gotta love Bill

  • On the commentary Judd Apatow said he and Paul Feig were actually telling Martin Starr jokes about porno and stuff to get him to laugh.

  • @SolidCorn LMAO REALLY!?!?! HAHAHA THAT IS SO FUNNY!!! wow, so cool

  • I think this is my favorite scene out of all the fantastic moments from this rare gem of a series. I can't really explain why.... but it is!

  • joe8588 i completely agree with you

everything is perfect. From the music to the empty fridge, to Bill dropping a piece of his browny. Perfect Haverchuck

This scene and episode all together made Freaks and Geeks for me

  • Personally, this is one of the finest scenes I've ever watched.

  • my favorite scene in the whole show. that and millie playing jesus is just alright.

  • A page torn right out of my life.

  • aw....

  • @spaceooddity You ain't the only one.
