  • why would this even be made with out the songs?

  • Greaaaat Moviiiieeee !!!

  • its a pity...lmfao

  • XD...I KNEW IT!! Best part! I thought they made Jean Valjean more violent in the film, and made Javert just plain Mean. I still LUV him tho! I Think on appearence, Geoffrey Rush was the best one. next to Philip Quast. :D

  • Uma Thurman........looks more like Wynona Ryder. LOL!

  • I love the nun's response ^_^

  • Jean Valjean is a Badass

  • Where is the singing?!? I thought this was supposed to be a movie of the musical!!!

  • hehehe, I thought the same thing, they also got rid of Eponine!

  • No, you'd have to watch the TAC version.

  • @bluesun7777 The TAC version is amazing!!!!

  • Im reading this book rightnow, and i just can say that it's an awasome history, Juan Valjean is a wonderful person, and Cosette stole my heart...now I read the chapter where Marius appears, think it should be an important person

    buscar too.....:D

  • Even though I don't think Uma Thurman was very good as Fantine, the way they filmed her death and the confrontation - its almost exactly like in the book. Only she was not hoping to die, she still held out hope - until Javert appeared.

  • Well, the confrontation in the book in not so violent I think...

  • The Confrontation...*chuckles*

  • haaaaaaaaaaaaaa i love the head banging!

  • uma is amazing.

  • aww Liam Neeson is so cute! This scenes with Fantine are so sweet...Geoffrey Rush is great, but really different from other interpretations, like John Malkovich or Philip Quast:he's more violent,"mean" and psycopatic XD than the usual

  • Valjean, At least, we'll see each other plains, Monsieur le maire, you'll wear a different chain...

Loved that so much! I don"t see this version yet, but it's seems incredible!

  • This movie is awsome! It actually inspired me to be in drama this year. We're doing this play at school, and I got Marius. yes :)

but at the end, I thought there would be more movie to it. I want more :/

  • Great movie!Brilliant acting from the cast!

  • Too bad for Javert if the walls was the way it is today he would have just broken the wall.

  • its good movie

  • I think Alan Rickman would've made a good Javert.

    But Geoffrey Rush does well.

  • hey you're right! :)

  • I love this movie! I've seen it several times, it's a classic!

  • Geoffrey Rush is so gorgeous as Javert! I love him. The other three are perfect of course.

  • The song during the funeral. Does anybody know the title?

  • You have to love how Javert keeps up "I will find you!" as his head's smacked against a wall.

  • bah, I agree brindlegreyhound it's so stupid that they made Javert so cruel, on the other hand the look on Valjean's face with the look when he realized what had happened is well done for the moment. But there's one small problem, Valjean is a pacifist. He goes to jail willingly in the novel and doesn't fight. Also in the novel, he shoots off an officer's hat rather than kill him. He wouldn't hit Javert like that.

  • i know! thats what i'm thinking...

  • Geoffrey Rush plays Javert so well. I dont think anyone else could have handled the part, other then Philip Quast of course hehe

  • Yeah, if it were a singing Les Mis, I'd pick Quast. But for a non-singing one, Rush is perfect.

  • i really miss eponine. she would've really MADE this movie.

  • This film is FANTASTIC! Neeson Rush Thurman and Danes are perfect. Especially Rush. He's the greatest Javert!

  • DId you see the Robert Hossein version? Michel Bouquet is amazing in Javert interpetation. A lot more calm and vicious, like a snake.

  • Ouch, that head smash must have hurt.

  • 00.51 My favorite part og this amazing movie. I KNEW IT!!! :D

  • Shame that the movie wasn't to much like the musical or book. Would've made this already great movie even better.

  • Javert gets his comeuppance.

  • i am a rocker, but when i saw this GREAT film, i totally got hooked to it!!!

by the way, i love the loveteam of Cosette and Marius.... this film is fantastic!!!

  • lol i'm a rocker too; what does that have to do with the movie?

anyway, yeah this is the best movie with the best couple and the best story with the best actors and i can go on forever xD

  • it's a pity

  • hahaha what a perfect head smash

  • Geoffry Rush!!! I love him. Les Miz is so freakin' awsome with him in it. *eyes widen* He's amazing as Javert. I love him. But he's also more awsome as Barbossa!!! Okay Geoffrey, I know you knew it! *laughs*

  • haha oh yes, he knows! ;D I lurrrrve Javert so much- Geoff makes the best Javert ever.

  • For me the best Javert ever is Philip Quast, but I agree Geoff did a brillaint job.

  • this is the greatest movie EVER! i don't care what anyone says! i L-O-V-E LOVE this movie!

  • read the damn book...

he stole bread and went to jail for 5 years

and then 14 more years because he tried to run

when he finally got out he was on probation and robbed two more people so Javert has been chasing him through France so that he can put Valjean back in jail

  • HE STOLE FUCKING BREAD WTF!?

I haven't seen this but now I want to

cause their treating him like a homicidal maniac and rapist for steal fucking bread.

smart thing to do is not get caught damn people were screwed in the head back then LOL

  • yeah, everyone just treats him like crap because when they hear "he was a galley slave" and prisoner, they immediately think "he is a bastard"

  • I wish someone would post the scene from the beginning where the priest says "I've bought your soul. You're no longer a slave". I am a very unfeeling person, but that always sends shivers down my spine and tears to my eyes.

  • "You'd better hit me hard enough to leave a mark."

Oddly, this is the only line that stood out to me in this film.

  • And maybe I'm biased because I'm a Javert fan, but I find his subordinate to be the most annoying character in this movie.

  • I love Javert's hat...

  • Does The Film Have The Songs From The Musical/Opera?

  • no it does not

  • you can find major theatrical plays about in major cities in your case in Europe, probably in cities like London, or Paris especially since it is obviously a french story.

  • OMG! it's Cap. Barbosa! lol ^_^

    Yay! ♥ him XD

  • I wish i could see this movie

  • you love this movie I've seen it you will cry in some parts

  • open mbc 2 u will find the movie right now

  • it was so sad when fantine died..but i loved the remark at the end by the officer.

  • Brilliant clip from the film. Val jeans, compassion and the inspectors efforts for justice contrast to show that sometimes the law has no common sense. Inspector Javert called reform, " a discredited fantasy," but this film shows that people can be reformed and become an asset to society.

  • It would have been soooo much better if it had the songs and music in it!

  • Best movie ever!!!111 LOL

  • Whether it's the book, the show or the movie, Javert always ruins this moment.

  • I love this film. I haven't read the book, but Liam is so good.

  • I love this film version of Victor Hugo's classic. Sure, there was some stuff cut out, but it was overall faithfull to the origional. Liam Neeson's acting in this scene is wonderful. "You killed her..." This scene was so poigant in the novel, but the look on Valjean's face when he looses Fantine in the film is priceless.

  • How interesting that in both this movie and in the musical, Valjean knocks Javert out and makes his quick getaway. But in the book, Valjean actually goes to the town prison and escapes. The movie and musical's versions of the scene make some more sense. Valjean tried to escape from Toulon four times and every time failed miserably. We're to believe that he was able to break out of this time in just a few hours? Come on.

  • The difference is that in this case he broke out of a municipal jail rather than a major prison.

  • I would think, seeing as how Valjean is a pacifist, that the books string of events would make more sense.

  • I could barely hear anything, with all the sound on my computer turned up. Almost done reading the book now. Fantastic story, buried in a boatload of Hugo's tireless lectures, monlogues and soliloquies.

  • That's pretty much the problem with 75% of classic literature.

  • Not sure about Neeson's height, as it is speculated quite a bit, as with Rush's, but I believe Geoff looks a good 6'. But I noticed this too, he makes Geoff look quite a bit shorter, and with Geoffrey's hat too! It's weird.

  • How tall is Liam Neeson? Because Geoffrey Rush is 6' yet he looks quite small in that scene. Apperently there's only 4 inches between them. Was Liam Neeson standing on a box to make Mr Rush look punier? I wonder...

    Thanks for the clip, Thomas16371!

  • your welcome :)

  • Neeson is six foot four inches. Reportedly, this cost the Phantom Menace production staff an extra $150,000 to accommodate.

  • Amazing movie. Thanks soooo much for putting this up!

  • that's ok! do you have any other videos of this movie?

  • sorry for the sound quality being so low...
