during my high school year i got a big chance for a college scholarship in football the only thing that made me have big advantage over my team and the other teams was that they never expected a lefty so fuck yea.
the english language was made with right handed people in mind, i think. Left handed people (in my experience) have worse handwriting then right handed people. it's like they're writing backwards.
I'm left handed, and I remember how hard it was to sit in a desk and write because all the space was on the right side of the desk. (for a right handed person) Just like in this video, a lot of things are made in the U.S also with a right handedness advantadge.
That's just stupid..It shouldn't matter is someone is right or left-handed. Nobody deserves to be treated badly because they are different in some way, especially if they were born that way. I myself am left-handed and have never experienced any sort of oppression because of it. My teachers at school have always made sure I sat a position where it would be comfortable for me to write.
According to the Catholic school I went to, the left hand was the Devil's and eating with it meant something like you were the Antichrist. This experience isn't unusual I met other people from all over the world who had to change because of the Church. Stupid fanatics fail at everything. I will be there to roast them with a pitchfork just like they expected. I just got promoted and got my own heater. I'll see you in Hell MWAHAHHAAAA!!
lol omg this is another comment from me but i find it weird that i don't remember using my left hand at all as a child. i only know it when i see pictures of me writing or sth.
my mom was left-handed originally, but her ignorant elementary school teacher forced her to write with her right hand so now she writes with her right and eats with her left. :( but her bday is august 13! yea, we got our own day. :D
hey it's me, y100269, the one that made the popular famous left-handed people video. the right handed eating in India is a food safety issue. you wipe yourself with the left hand and eat with the right to prevent cross-contamination. just like you use 2 separate cutting boards for meat and for produce.
im a hard lefty and glad to be becuz i like being different. i mean no matter what im doing im using my left hand and i hold my right hand close to my stomach. except for when im using a pc mouse i use my right hand
PROUD TO BE A LEFTIE. :D thing is, here in korea, i got into this habit of seeing who's left handed and right handed in restaurants... i only remember seeing ONE left-handed person. O__O; WUT. ahaha
@alexjiwon This has nothing to do with being left-handed, but why do people from "Korea" not say "North Korea" or "South Korea"? That's like saying you're from "Dakota" or "Carolina".
@casedinlight uhhhh i'm not sure... it's just a sort of habit. people usually just recognize "Korea" as "South Korea" because since South Koreans obviously have like...more privileges and that sort of thing, talking about that and referring to KOREA.........well, people would recognize which part of Korea it would be. ugh it's hard to explain haha sorry.
@casedinlight Well there is torture and human rights violations going on in North Korea and people from that region likely escaped with their life. Maybe they are deathly afraid to mention it.
Forcing a left handed child to use his/her right hand over the left hand against his/her own will is a selfish immature act by the parent or the teacher!!!
No offense to the people complaining but an a left handed person, and I have no difficulties using other tools in such, sometimes I'll just use my right hand no big deal. And wow poor children getting hurt for just using a hand just WOW. The only thing that is difficult for me is that pens leave smudges of my papers since our hand goes over the words causing it to be very messy:(
Let's see right-handed people try to get along with left-handed tools and being forced to use the less-dominant hand. They'd go crazy. And even then I don't think they'd understand.
Im left handed and i had no problems playing games with my right hand like prince of persia (it has right hander controls.
The reason why left handers are more creative is because the left side of the body is controlled by the right hemosphere (right side of the brain), which controls emotions, creativity and music and art.
I believe that a person can use any hand... they just need to practice with their hand. At first i was driving with my right hand, and now can only drive with my left hand... Sadly, i can't drive with my right hand no more because i use my left hand so much. Weirdly i can't drive with both hand either... It's all end up being to which hand you use more. Obviously you find it hard to use ur left hand after using ur right for years.
@iStealKookies that is not true. driving does not require a person to exert the functions of the hand, but more of the arm. i am very left handed but have no prob driving with my right hand on the wheel, it is the same. just like a right handed person throws a ball, or uses a hammer well with his right hand and would do the same clumsily with the left hand, lefties have the same difficulty using the right hand. it isnt cus of using it so much, it's a thing of brain preference or pre-disposition
I was never forced by anyone to write with my right hand, but I had to use some with my right hand. This happened because I was the only Left-handed person in my family.
so l'm pretty sure l was born right handed, or at least that was the hand that l first wrote with, but in eighth grade (last year) l got tendonitis in my right from playing violin. l stopped using my right hand because it hurt so bad. l used my left, and it was WAY better than my right. so seriously, what the heck is wrong with me? also, my handwriting always sucked as a child.
for me growing and being left handed was confusing but using MANY right things as a child my left got used to using or handling right handed things..people often expected me to be right handed but i always used something for example like a pencil to write i always wrote it in which i felt comfortable with my parents saw this too my uncle taught me how to peel potatoes and he was having a hardtime trying to teach me because i was always using my lefthand and then he finally realized that im left
haha wow they take this seriously in india. It's cool though, I'm left handed myself. I always just ended up adjusting to anything right handed and eventually becoming more proficient at it. The only thing I really find strange sometimes is that everyone shakes hands with their right hand. I'd like to mix it up and extend my left one time just to see how they react but its so instinctive now to shake with the right, I always forget to try it.
24 people are jealous right-handers ( we know we're superior : ) ). I lived in India for a while and it just made it easier for me to remember the routine, me being a lefty.
I'm lefthanded, I've never used lefthanded only appliances and I've never encountered problems. The notion that we're retards when it comes to using the right hand is ridiculous.
But all the superstition and abuse is pretty crazy and unacceptable.
I'm lefthanded and i don't have any trouble with appliances, scissors or computer mice, i guess i've just adapted. I only use my lefthand for writing and my right hand for everything else, what would that make me? :p
I love being the minority. It's different. (: Plus it's labeled "Creative Genius". Only bad part? Left handed people excel in creativeness... too bad when you draw like me... you end up smearing all your drawing on the left side.
Even though I write (and do some other things) with my left hand, I do quite a lot of things with my right hand. It's stronger, I have no problem using an iron or can opener (I actually do those automatically; it'd be awkward for me to do it with my left hand), and it's faster, like if I'm playing piano or something. So I guess I even out :D
the only thing thats annoying with being left handed is writing on a whiteboard,, i get a black hand near my little finger..
but the rest has been easy to adapt too.. eg: a mouse or can opener or scissors even... i guess it kinda sucks having ur hand hide what you have just written too,, so if u wanna check your spelling u have to stop writing and raise your hand..
I find it weird that people are still amazed at seeing a left-handed person. I'm left-handed, as well as my niece and nephew...i don't pay attention the which hand people use. People feel they must say something when they come to this realization.
@OutspokenShy l hate that. whenever l write, people say, "WOW! you're left handed?!?!?" then l usually just say, no l'm right handed and continue what l do with my left. lt confusees people
@EIW52196 yeah everyone usually gets surprised, and say "how do you do that?!" and they try writing with their left. Its kinda cool but gets annoying sometimes.
I am left-handed myself, but I never felt that this was a big issue. Obviously, people were always surprised when they first saw me write with my left hand, but I was never discriminated against that, though I inherited it from my mother, who was born as a leftie and was forced to learn to write with her left hand, since she grew up in the (back then) communist Poland. Though I do most things with my left hand, I still use the mouse and play guitar with my right hand.
my blood fucking boils when i see them hitting the left hand when the kid uses it or shows them fire when they use the left hand
i'm a left hander and i love it, it's awsome
just leave the kid alone let them fucking choose whatever hand they want to use
man i'm so sick of all these shit saying "oh don't eat with left hand" or "don't give me that with left hand" blah blah blah, just shut the fuck up and who gives a shit what hand they eat with, give things to people or write with
It is generally said that Lefties are more creative.. It's true because being a left-handed our left hemisphere generally dominates.
Most of the famous people in the history were left handed... like Jimi Hendrix, Albert Einstein, Leonardo da Vinci, M.C. Escher, Michelangelo, Paul Mc Cartney, Kurt Cobain, Albert King, etc
and some ppl from ages ago Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Charlemagn, Joan of Arc, etc
I spent $70 on a left-handed mouse, because the 'ambidextrous' one I was using was giving me muscle spasms in my wrist. Right-handed ergonomic mice are a lot cheaper.
lefties are strongest they have resisted through history again superstition and racism of right handed! why did they survive? More clever... than majority!
@PONJOnco yes we are more creative, musical, and emotional. We also can have a higher IQ than right handers but in school right handers are better in math and science.
wow...some people think being left-handed is a curse? why did we (yes, im left-handed) pown to many people in wars and other activities because they thought we were hexed? ROFL
To be honest, I've always wanted to learn how to write/use/do anything wih both hands because say I break my right hand, I won't really have to care since I can use the other. The only problem is..... How do I get to that goal??
Us left hand people are in the right frame of mind, it is a noted fact that left handed people use the right side of there brain and right handed people use the left brain. So there is proof we are in the right. LOL Power to the lefties. What difference should it really make, Maybe we should tie the right handed peoples arm to there side and see how they would deal with being isolated and shunned, I think it is a shame to treat people like this it is as stupid as being a racist .
In some cultures, the right hand is used exclusively for eating, writing, and most other activities, but the left hand is used for cleaning yourself after using the bathroom. So I can see why that might be taboo to eat with the same hand you clean yourself with.
Yeah, I'm right handed, but in my old class we had more lefties than righties, which is kinda wierd. I don't really see the difference, and everyone's pretty 'ok' about it in England, but I didn't realize things were so difficultfor a lefty.
Good video. As a left-hander myself, luckily here in the UK attitudes are pretty good, although I do remember being scalded at primary school for using my left hand to write... But I can identify with all of the comments re. appliances, especially things like scissors and potato peelers! Funnily enough, I'm quite comfortable using a mouse with my right hand - it actually makes for a good working arrangement; I can use the mouse and jot down notes etc at the same time...
Well, it's easier if you start when you're young. Anything is trainable (If you're a drummer like me, being ambidextrous is extremely advantageous, and yes, trainable).
Being a lefty on a computer is a boon - mouse in the right hand, and the most important keys available for the left. I use the Opera web browser and most of the hot keys can be used with moving the left hand:
- open/close/switch tabs
- save page, go to home page
- cut/paste, edit fields onscreen, change link focus
Plus others. Half of those things require the mouse in other browsers, so I'm usually flying around sites.
In fact, you should complain about all those shortcuts being for a left hand, since they are an invention of a righthanded person! Come to think of it, a righthander invariably operates a mouse with his right hand, so they use the left hand for shortcuts without dropping the mouse! If you wanted a proper lefthanded layout, you'd need a left hand mouse, keyboard with cursor keys on its left, and righthanded shortcuts.
I'm a lefty, and I remember first handling a computer mouse and having a super hard time. I am kind-of ambidextrous now, but I used to just use the left anyways (reaching across the entire desk). People in India seem to have a lot more BS to deal with, and my heart goes out to them. Stay Strong Leftys! Be resilient Southpaws! And yes, writing in a binder sux, my hand sits on the metal rings and my writing gets smeared, so I will start writing in my binders on the left side
hahaha, you couldn't be more wrong. Tyring using it with your left hand and you'll immediately understand the problem. Although the design of the computer mice are often symmetrical it clearly has the left click button on the left (for your index finger) and the right click on the right (for your middle finger). For the left-handed population they would have to use their middle finger to press the left-click button, and index for secondary purposes.
Actually, I can use my mouse perfectly fine (bearing in mind I'm a righty) with my left hand - assuming I switch the button assignments under windows mouse options..
I'm also guessing such an option is available under other OS's as well.
hahaha, you couldn't be more wrong. Try opening up mouse preferences on any computer and you'll immediately see how much of a dumbass you are. There is an option to switch the button's functions for left handers so the right button is the primary button.
I as a left-handed person only have problems with drawing and writing(because my hand blurs everything I've written) and using scissors becasue I don't own a left-handed pair. I'm proud of what I am and don't complain about small stupid things
i cant understand this fucking world u have two hands capable of the same thing..leave me the fuck alone ill use my left hand thats what i used since i was a baby im not changing fuck all of you bitches...i hate handism
I'm left handed, but I was born in Soviet Union, (I'm Lithuanian) and my teacher in 1 grade asked me to learn how to write with right hand, so I did it easily, so now I mostly using all tools and pen with my right hand but I'm using knife all the time with my left hand :) so am I still leftie ? :D
I'm usually very open to things, but this is a bit too much for me. Most of them objects mentioned are easily used by left handed people throughout the world! I'm left handed and using a computer mouse and buttoning a shirt isn't made any different!! Shirts in every bloody country are made that way around so stop complaining!!
Something like a computer mouse can get tricky for some, especially those who don't use computers often.
I remember being little and being unable to use a computer mouse properly, because grabbing it with the left hand would result in me having to use my middle finger to click anything, rather than the index finger for righties.
Windows now has the ability to switch the buttons around, which is nice, but i've now learned to use my right hand for mouse control, through sheer force of habit.
I am right handed but I use my left hand for thr mouse because I can type better with your right hand. But I understand that some ergomonic mouses out there would give left-handers are really hard time. Nonetheless I have limited vision in my right eye and shooting a standard rifle is really tough:-(
My cousin (then 5) used to always use her left hand for everything. She would grab something with her left hand and my grandpa would take it, slap her hand, and put it in her right hand. I think she's right handed now. >_>
Generally speaking, yes, but a lot of mice are designed with right-handers in mind. My gaming mouse, for instance, is contoured to fit the right hand, and the side buttons are placed where the right thumb can easily press them.
Im left handed but i use the mouse to my right for some reason. People find that wierd, either way being left handed comes at different levels. I can deal with not using my left hand for certain things, peeling, mouse, button anything, using equipment.....except scissors....damn them
@OxiaEMan No more left handed people in the US!!!

but the rest has been easy to adapt too.. eg: a mouse or can opener or scissors even... i guess it kinda sucks having ur hand hide what you have just written too,, so if u wanna check your spelling u have to stop writing and raise your hand..
strictlysega 2 years ago
I used to write upside down (paper) and was reprimanded by my fifth grade teacher...that's crazy. For some reason, it bothered her.
OutspokenShy 2 years ago
I find it weird that people are still amazed at seeing a left-handed person. I'm left-handed, as well as my niece and nephew...i don't pay attention the which hand people use. People feel they must say something when they come to this realization.
OutspokenShy 2 years ago
@OutspokenShy l hate that. whenever l write, people say, "WOW! you're left handed?!?!?" then l usually just say, no l'm right handed and continue what l do with my left. lt confusees people

Hexl702 1 year ago
@EIW52196 yeah everyone usually gets surprised, and say "how do you do that?!" and they try writing with their left. Its kinda cool but gets annoying sometimes.
Arvak777 1 year ago
I am left-handed myself, but I never felt that this was a big issue. Obviously, people were always surprised when they first saw me write with my left hand, but I was never discriminated against that, though I inherited it from my mother, who was born as a leftie and was forced to learn to write with her left hand, since she grew up in the (back then) communist Poland. Though I do most things with my left hand, I still use the mouse and play guitar with my right hand.

just leave the kid alone let them fucking choose whatever hand they want to use
man i'm so sick of all these shit saying "oh don't eat with left hand" or "don't give me that with left hand" blah blah blah, just shut the fuck up and who gives a shit what hand they eat with, give things to people or write with

:D

I spent $70 on a left-handed mouse, because the 'ambidextrous' one I was using was giving me muscle spasms in my wrist. Right-handed ergonomic mice are a lot cheaper.

To be honest, I've always wanted to learn how to write/use/do anything wih both hands because say I break my right hand, I won't really have to care since I can use the other. The only problem is..... How do I get to that goal??

Um I'm all for the idea of raising awareness of the differences left-handed people like myself face..

Funnily enough, I'm quite comfortable using a mouse with my right hand - it actually makes for a good working arrangement; I can use the mouse and jot down notes etc at the same time...
johnnybong 2 years ago
What's wrong with using mouse with your right hand if you're comfortable with it? I am a righthander but can use either hand for that.
As for writing, you know, arabs write with right hand right to left. I cannot write with my left hand very well, but i use it to draw sometimes.

Half of those things require the mouse in other browsers, so I'm usually flying around sites.
zxcv1234vcxz 2 years ago

(=
Chagrinnedsenseless 2 years ago
computer mice are rarely specifically right handed-ly designed. Unless they're of the ergonomic type. That put me off the whole video.
f00ky3w2oob 2 years ago
hahaha, you couldn't be more wrong. Tyring using it with your left hand and you'll immediately understand the problem. Although the design of the computer mice are often symmetrical it clearly has the left click button on the left (for your index finger) and the right click on the right (for your middle finger). For the left-handed population they would have to use their middle finger to press the left-click button, and index for secondary purposes.
crownblue89 2 years ago
Actually, I can use my mouse perfectly fine (bearing in mind I'm a righty) with my left hand - assuming I switch the button assignments under windows mouse options..
I'm also guessing such an option is available under other OS's as well.
Hence, symmetrical mouse + switch button assignments = left handed mouse o_0
f00ky3w2oob 2 years ago
hahaha, you couldn't be more wrong. Try opening up mouse preferences on any computer and you'll immediately see how much of a dumbass you are. There is an option to switch the button's functions for left handers so the right button is the primary button.

I'm usually very open to things, but this is a bit too much for me. Most of them objects mentioned are easily used by left handed people throughout the world! I'm left handed and using a computer mouse and buttoning a shirt isn't made any different!! Shirts in every bloody country are made that way around so stop complaining!!
sporkafife 2 years ago
Something like a computer mouse can get tricky for some, especially those who don't use computers often.
I remember being little and being unable to use a computer mouse properly, because grabbing it with the left hand would result in me having to use my middle finger to click anything, rather than the index finger for righties.
Windows now has the ability to switch the buttons around, which is nice, but i've now learned to use my right hand for mouse control, through sheer force of habit.
11Sharn11 2 years ago
