  • very good info thx

  • Love the videos, keep up the good work

    w w w LearnToGrowWheatgrass. com

  • most mold problems occur by using to shaloow of growing pots,, use a deeper browing dish,,, many have solved this problem easily with a deeper dish

  • @billtheman100 its most likely too much humidity where you are growing, thats at least what my problem was when i was getting mold

  • if you grow more than you can consume, it is possible to dry it and make a tincture while maintaining its qualities?

  • Thank you, thank you Gene, for getting right to the 'how to' part of growing wheat grass! Everyone else is give a discourse on it , thank you for the DIY instructions!

  • great step by step instructions. Thank you Gene!

  • I think chewing it and spitting out the pulp is better. this is better for your chi. your saliva mixes with the nutrients and it becomes more a part of you. plus it then helps strengthen your teeth.

  • i wish my lawn was wheatgrass, if it was il be grazing like a cow all day

  • Can you grow them without soil ?

  • Health benefits( with any supplements) are long term, not overnight quick fixes. This is a good video showing an alternative to soaking first. It's fun to grow stuff too.

  • You should soak the wheatberries before planting them. Your method results in much less yield.

  • Very good video. Thank you Sir.

  • @Pnkbong Sup!

Are you getting your probiotics? Drink kefir, take supplements! Cause you might be getting 100% of the greens you need, but if you don't have enough good bacteria in you only 5-10% ACTUALLY ABSORB! I'm no professional, just my 0,2 cents lol! Try it out, because wheatgrass truely is an AMAZING thing you don't want to miss out on. Good luck & take care!

  • It depends a lot if you grow it yourself or buy it from a store. Also depends on how regularly you drink it. A few times a week versus once a day makes a huge difference.

Also, the quantity that you drink. About 2 ounces a day is standard for the health benefits.

  • Thanks for posting this.

  • Appreciate you sharing this video...will start my own soon...

  • Great video !! VERY helpful

  • how many times can you regrow and harvest one tray of wheatgrass?

  • awesome

  • I buy the wheat by bilk and only use organic wheat, I usually soak mine but I would like to try it his way.

I also use organic potting soil by Miracle grow.

How do you juice it, I have an extractor that is "supposed" to be the best way.

You are right about the health benefits, it can heal your body of most ills.

    Thanks for this wonderful video.

  • Using the tray with holes at the bottom for planting eliminates the concern of over watering and having to tilt the tray to drain water. I place a tray without holes covered with newspaper below it to soak excess water and prevent spillage.

  • Do you re use the potting soil after the harvest? I don't mean growing the grass again but the soil? And if so how many times is it used?

  • Heya growin some wheat grass my self I want to do barley and spelt next, but the wheat grass went moldy on me after oh 6 or 7 days of grass.

  • Were you draining the water off of the grass? I am growing now and I don't want mine to mold =(.

  • Do I understand correctly that when you water the seeds, not the grass, you do not poor the extra water out of the tray? That's what I saw the gentleman do. Then later, when he watered the grass, he did poor out the extra water and he gave the reason for that (don't drown 'm).

I just want to be sure that I don't poor out the extra water from the tray when I water the seeds...

Thanks for this nice video demonstration :)

  • The first amount should pretty much stay there and you will be watering it basically the amount where you don't get run off to begin with.

So after the second time you water is about the time it will start to build up to any degree.

  • I think I'm going to grow some of that for me and my cat, one for me and one for him to chew on. Much safer that the grass he tries to get too when he sneaks outside.

  • can u make flour out of this

  • I want to try growing wheatgrass for my son who has chronic fatigue syndrome. Can you give me an idea of what the cost is per week/month to do this yourself. And at what temperature do you need to do it indoors when it gets colder outside.

About how much would I need to give him daily?

    Thanks!

  • i would say around a shot or 2 if you can get that much juice out of it because you neeed a lot of grass to make large amount. When i go to Jugo Juice i asked for an ounced since 2 ounce was the expensive about 4.99 plus GST and i saww them make it with a handful of grass and only a ounce came out. Usually my mom grows them inside the house with organic soil and make sure that the soil is always moist not wet. The seeds can be purchased i heard but where i live there used to be an farm land

  • i used to live neer a farm on a huge community so when the farmers don't look i usually pick a few bunches of wheat and thats where i get the seeds. But i would suggest looking at google maps go to your local area then search something like wheatgrass or something like that if you can't find anything just go search on google type in wheatgrass sead then your area see if you find anything then i hoped i have help

  • What the hell is potting saw ?

  • Potting soil.

  • hi. I want to grow wheatgrass. i have a question. When I cut some off to juice, will it keep growing back? so I really don't have to keep planting wheatgrass anymore if I maintain this batch?

  • No you must keep planting.

I usually get 2 cutting from each tray.

The 3rd cutting is tough and does not taste as well as the first 2.

  • Not only that. After the first cut the nutritional value of the grass is degraded by 50-70%.

Always replant. Wheatgrass is so cheap, and it can sustain you for years.

When ordering Wheatgrass shots as stores, I always check to make sure the grass has not been previously cut.

  • yes mr. Younger, i do belieive it keeps you {younger} to, thanx for the info * if in doughts, try some sprouts * (:

  • HI Floydfan

Thanks for your comment. Do you have a video on growing sprouts. I would like to learn from a 'pro'

Gene Younger (younger due to wheatgrass and more raw food!)

  • Thanks!

  • the best explanation on growing wheatgrass. thank you.

  • loved the video

  • Thanks for watching.

Please keep me posted on your progress

  • The thing I would like to ask Gene...what to you do with the used mats after each harvest. Should you replant over the existing mat or tear them apart and mix them into fresh new soil for future plantings?

  • I send them to the compost pile and later to add to natural soil. No you cannot repalnt using the same soil.

It gets all matted up with roots etc.

  • Thanks, We have a bew one posted about how to grow wheat grass indoors. Gene

  • What kind of soil is best for growing wheatgrass? thanks!

  • In the summer I use bulk organic potting soil from the nursery and grow the wheat grass outdoors . In the winter I use a better grade organic potting soil which is especially for indoor plants. That way I do not get flies in the house.

  • very helpful! I just started growing my own wheatgrass :D

  • great.let us know how that turns out.i want to try also but dont know how.have a nice day!

  • How is you wheat grass doing. I am in Ecuador and at this high altitude it gets cool at night and the grass grows very slowly. And I get a different wheat berry here which is slow sprouting fro some reason. Maybe I just have to slow down and let nature taKe its course !

  • Bravo!

  • Is there a hole in the bottom of the tray? After eating it twice can you grow it again and eat it some more like your lawn?

  • You may prefer to have holes in the tray. Some trays come that way. Mine do not have holes in the bottom as I always drain the excess water about 5 minutes after I soak the tray with fresh filtered water.

  • great video, thanks! I just dranked my first cup of wheatgrass juice, but i didn't grew it that well (there were some mold in it - is it harmful?) - but i'll take your advices and grow it better/more this time.

  • Yes mold may be harmful to consume.

Just drain the tray well after you water it and let it have plenty of fresh air and sunshine and it will not likely mold.

  • wheatgrass grown at temperatures of 65 to 70 degrees fahrenheit will have less chance of mold also have a small fan blowing on the tray for air movement

  • cooler tempartures will make the grass grow slower but the grass will absorb more nutrients

  • very helpful thanks! 8)
