@jhoylhout dude, you/re using windows 7 starter aren't ya? you can change your theme or your wallpaper, you can download some program called Personalization Panel.. :)

If this doesn't work on your computer, if it won't setup properly, get the folder that comes with the theme, change the color to the color on the theme, and change all the things that the theme changes manually. Then save your theme, just in case you change themes often.

Most custom themes on deviantart require your system to be patched in order for them to work. Themes such as Lucid, X2 and many more. It sounded like you shunned some of the ones who commented about patching. When typing in "Windows 7 themes" I saw one of your videos. Very cool that you got it on the first page at the very top, one of mines is right below that. Those themes in the video require your system to be patched in order for them to work.

you can also edit any them that is in there with your own stuff and save it as a them i do this all the time. it was listed on a Microsoft tech net thing i watched a while back. i got a tons of my own made themes.

To those who are wondering: Patching of system dll's is only required IF you pick a theme that is not a re-color of the Win7 default theme. If the theme completely changes the window border/taskbar/nav items, then yes, patches are required, depending on what is being changed

as far as the themes or wallpapers/backgrounds go you kinda made it way more complicated than it needs to be. idk but i just added my pictures folder as themes and can just put a check mark in the box in each picture you want to be displayed. not trying to be an ass, just saying. and isn't the red clock in defaults when you click on the clock gadget? cool video none the less.

In Gnome you just download then drag and drop into the theme selection tool and in KDE it's all integrated into the theme tool... just browse and click install. And some say Linux is hard?
