Why should we bow down and respect them for no other reason than they were born into Royalty, they are not elected but enjoy untold wealth, power and privilege, at the tax payers expense, can we afford them in the 21st Century, or more to the point, do we need them? It is a bit more important than that. A constitutional monarchy is simply superior to a republican system which puts all the power in the hands of the politicians.

Id rather have a King or Queen as my head of state whilst the politicians run the country than have the politicians as "my president". Holding onto parts of our heritage is also very important,, a generic republic would be so much duller.

Your right on the tourism front though, it is a good boost for tourism too.

Anyway, the British Royal Family brings in more revenue via tourism than any average Brit does.
