@bucktkd if you google "Walt Whitman American Experience", the first result should be the PBS site where you can "Watch the Program" (link on top left). the 4th and 5th results for me are the DVD on sale at ShopPBS.org and Amazon.com. Hope that helps!
@bucktkd : I didn't download it from PBS (this vid is a lot higher quality than that.) But when I do need to grab video from the web I use Grab Pro (Google it.)
I like that last part, the fact about the printed copies of Leaves of Grass, it makes you think that though you may not see the results, you can and do make a difference.
one of " Leaves Of Grass" first reviews in what was thought of as a forerunner to the New York Times, advised my beloved Walt to commit suicide . . . .
This video is a recently aired "American Experience" on the life and work of Walt Whitman. It is definitely worth watching in its entirety as is reading his "Leaves of Grass".
It's from WGBH Boston's excellent series: American Experience. Google it, and you can see the entire Walt Whitman: An American Experience documentary on PBS's website.
PLEASE TELL ME U HAVE THE REST OF THIS. ITS NO LONGER AVAILABLE ON PBS WEBSITE. IF U DO PLEASE UPLOAD THE REST

What is the song playing in this video?
The voice sounds like it belongs to Chris Cooper.?
sxswsxsw 3 years ago
That is indeed Chris Cooper narrating. I don't know the name of the song; it might have been original to the production.
