I have never seen a better laptop, that I could use as a desk top.
I'm not trying to bash this thing but you could get a iMac for 1/5 of the price of this and since that laptop is hardly mobile why wouldn't ou invest ur money into a laptop that is actually portable or just buying a desktop

Mines an HP Pavillion dv9000 but I don't think its a dragon. :P It has a webcam and a conroller, headphones, lots and lots of usb's and places to hook up external monitors. It has a huge battery adaptor and dvd player/ burner and I think bluray and blutooth but I don't think its a dragon. I got it in 2007. No its the HP pavillion Entertainment PC. I just got Vista on it so its even better. It came with 80Gb harddrive space and a 3.0 rating video card though its running aero.
This laptop was a giveaway unit, so I definitely did not buy it. Most of the stuff I review are loaner units from PR agencies. I'm going to do a video about what I do for a living actually, because people keep asking me the same questions over and over and over and over and over again and I'd really like to be able to stop answering them. ;-)
Well, this video is a year old - most laptops get refreshed every year, so I'm not sure why you thought it would still be available. I've noticed that most YouTube viewers don't look at the date on the video and they assume the video is still accurate...it's usually not. The good news is that the HDX 18 is a great laptop (watch my videos of it) and a lot less than $5000. ;-)
well the macbook air came out last year or so im not sure and it is still out. But whatever, im still going to try to but THIS laptop in the future because I find it to be very very amazing. :):):)
you can get a hp dv7-1285dx 17'' laptop with 6g of mem and 500g hd for 1200 at best buy 3'' more screen 2 g less and the same hd space for like 2800 more???

The HDX9200 is no longer being sold. The HDX X-18 is the closest thing that HP sells - check out my unboxing and first impressions review of it on my channel.
I would never buy this laptop!! Come on guys how can you buy laptop which has 2.8 extreme processor and 5400 rpm hd, this is really sick??!! As mikle108 points out, this computer is no longer being sold. I agree that 7200 RPM drives are the way to go, which is why you can get the HP HDX 18 (check out the video I just posted) with TWO 320 GB, 7200 RPM drives. So there ya go...

Considering that Final Cut Pro is an Apple product, and that it only works with Macs, this isn't a good product for you. You need a Mac. Apple will not release Final Cut Pro for Windows, trust me.
There's nothing about Macs that make them better from a hardware perspective for multimedia production. In fact, today I could build a Core i7 based system that would kick the ass of any Mac on the planet - Apple is always lagging behind in the CPU department. The software is the reason why some people prefer Macs for video/audio production.

The problem with this line was the MASSIVE size being sold at a VERY high price as a "notebook". This thing is an all-in-one moveable desktop at best.

try to play NEW games on that Crap Pro. This thing is a SWEET gaming PC. It would be a BETTER PC with XP or Ubuntu, but - the user can resolve that on their own once they have the system.
This laptop has been discontinued - the new version of it is the HP HDX 16t or 18t, with 16" and 18" screens respectively. I just received the 18t model a week ago so I'll be doing an unboxing/review of it in a few weeks...after CES 2009.
Messages like yours are why I think YouTube should have an IQ test before accounts are allowed to post comments. The HP imprint finish on the HDX9200 is called the "dragon" finish. When HP was making this product, I believe it was code-named "The Dragon". When HP people talked to me about the product, they called it "The Dragon". The promotion giveaway was called "31 Days of the Dragon". So guess why I was calling it the Dragon?

If you think it's just about resolution, you're kind of missing the point. And having 1920 x 1200 on a 17" screen requires AMAZING eyesight - not everyone can handle a display that small but so high resolution...
Notebook - means it needs to be in size of a notebook..

Those are your interpretations, and not fact. A portable computer this big is certainly not for everyone, but HP sold a lot of these so obviously there some sort of a market for it. No one is forcing you to buy one...

And having a 20" screen is noo good for a laptop, trust me, even on my 19" desktop, it hurts my eyes after a while and that thingy in the back to adjust the screen is so GAY and USELESS!

Well, as I've pointed out earlier in the thread, the laptop with the same specs today is about $3700...but as of this week, there are two brand new HDX units: an 18" screen version and a 16" screen version. So this computer is now officially obsolete. ;-)
I was supposed to get a tx2500 from HP but it's been several months and nothing from them, so I'd say to look elsewhere for reviews of the tx2500 - sorry.

try to play NEW games on that Crap Pro. This thing is a SWEET gaming PC. It would be a BETTER PC with XP or Ubuntu, but - the user can resolve that on their own once they have the system.

This laptop has been discontinued - the new version of it is the HP HDX 16t or 18t, with 16" and 18" screens respectively. I just received the 18t model a week ago so I'll be doing an unboxing/review of it in a few weeks...after CES 2009.

Messages like yours are why I think YouTube should have an IQ test before accounts are allowed to post comments. The HP imprint finish on the HDX9200 is called the "dragon" finish. When HP was making this product, I believe it was code-named "The Dragon". When HP people talked to me about the product, they called it "The Dragon". The promotion giveaway was called "31 Days of the Dragon". So guess why I was calling it the Dragon?

If you think it's just about resolution, you're kind of missing the point. And having 1920 x 1200 on a 17" screen requires AMAZING eyesight - not everyone can handle a display that small but so high resolution...

Notebook - means it needs to be in size of a notebook..
This hp mutated computer is just a desktop wanna be - but it is not as strong as a desktop though. if you paid $5000 for it , better jump down from a bridge,,

Those are your interpretations, and not fact. A portable computer this big is certainly not for everyone, but HP sold a lot of these so obviously there some sort of a market for it. No one is forcing you to buy one...

Wow... My laptop has a 8800gts m in it, and tbh, there are the 8800gtx m :( so I got owned and his 2
And having a 20" screen is noo good for a laptop, trust me, even on my 19" desktop, it hurts my eyes after a while and that thingy in the back to adjust the screen is so GAY and USELESS!
Hoog storage though :P 500gb in dual is good :P
And whats good about a laptop is to cary it, not use it like a desktop!

another excellent unboxing Jason, not sure how I missed this when it was first posted... I've always been a huge fan of HP's computers, I'm sure this one would be no exception based on the specs. plus considering this thing has a screen bigger than my iMac's (still trying to get my head around a 20.1" laptop screen!), I can see what you mean by its not really being meant for portability. good stuff, though... I wonder what a laptop with these specs will cost by May '09? :)

Well, as I've pointed out earlier in the thread, the laptop with the same specs today is about $3700...but as of this week, there are two brand new HDX units: an 18" screen version and a 16" screen version. So this computer is now officially obsolete. ;-)

I was supposed to get a tx2500 from HP but it's been several months and nothing from them, so I'd say to look elsewhere for reviews of the tx2500 - sorry.
