  • she looks like a space angel alien here to play sweet salvation to our unworthy ears

  • that synth line is incredible

  • I'm 100% sure there's a phaser effect on the vocals for this track, it's subtle but oh so nice. great post!

  • She sounds like she has a cold here.. that's disappointing.

  • Her voice is ethereal, like smoke...

  • hm this live version of the song used to be on their myspace. Wonder why they took it down :(

  • My god.. this is incredible

  • @lesleyssmith it really is!!!

  • i <3 metric

  • I wish I could see her/them one day...

  • i still cant undertand how she plays that synth while singing this. i can play the synth part perfect, but cnt sing while playing for the life of me!! love it

  • goddd same here, i get so incensed. but then i just appreciate emily more.

  • Seems you can play the synth part.. do you have any suggestions on the way you programed your synth for this sound? any help would help a heaps thanks!! :)

  • @STRUCK37 Most important aspect of this sound is the slight portamento (glide) setting at about 1/4.

  • oh same.

playing this on the synth and singing it at the same time is incredibly difficult.

  • Emily is the Queen of Portamento, both vocally and synthesizer-y.

  • If you like this, google "Red Dahlia".

I remember hearing something about this band less than a year ago. I've seen this video; probably here on the tube.

    Thanks for the reminder, Pauley...

  • I am not sure if it is what you meant but I am assumikng it is... I found a band named Red Dahlia from the searching. They are pretty good, tho maybe could use a tad bit more polishing. Listening to their stuff on MS. Needs Not Wants reminds me of Melissa from Auf der Maur a bit.

  • Metric <3

    Emily Haines <3 <3

  • awesome!

  • I like this one so much better than the studio version.

  • their shows in montreal are always fucking awesome. i'm so happy they did the dvd recording that night.

  • Love this DVD. Wathching it loud on a surround system was surreal. This song and the super extended version of Dead Disco are my 2 faves.
