  • Needs more Kendall Betts.

  • Ha! I love how the first trombone has perfect playing posture and 2nd and bass are slouched over when they play.

  • BURT HARA!

  • RE: the comments posted above. Very disappointed by some of the crass descriptions given here. One can disagree in style and technique perhaps, but the lack of articulation is telling. Minnesota Orchestra (was) one of the 10 best symphonies in the world. They do not harbor mediocrity.

  • YES!

  • BTW, this is from when the MN orchestra was mediocre. Since this video, they have 2 new trombones, some new horns, a new 2nd/3rd trumpet, a new tuba (big improvement), and a huge improvement in conductor, IMO. Just saying this is kind of old. Can't comment on all the woodwinds and strings. David Herring and Manny are still going as good as ever though. Their new tuba player has a huge sound that adds a lot to the sound. And the horns are superb now (Kendall Betts was good tho)

  • David Herring is by far my favorite bass trombone player. I wish this orchestra recorded more, they are every bit as good as San Franciso, NY, Chicago, Boston, you name it--plus they have the best acoustical hall in the country.

  • I hear you on this one! If anyone knows of other MN orchestra videos let us know!

  • a better hall than Symphony Hall Boston? sorry, but I disagree completely

  • @stopandthink22

from someone who has played at Orch hall many times, it can be very hard for an orchestra new to the acoustics there to play. Every note must be articulated far more than one normally would!
