Shouldn't you make first a slurry of silica with the solvent system and then adding it to the column? Also don't we usually pack the silica two or three times applying pressure? I don't criticize, I am just wondering ;-)

@chad1robot I think it is common sand washed with water and treated with hydrochloric acid to clean it from dirt...
