I'm listening for an American leader to begin using Iraq casualties to justify attacking yet another country. America being the aggressor means nothing - some still believe that it was Vietnam who attacked the US (a few think it was at Pearl Harbor!) & soon they'll start to think Iraq did too.
If you've been listening to the anti-iran rhetoric, you'll note that a disturbing number of politicians are already using casualties in iraq as a reason to invade iran by claiming that iranian weapons have been used by insurgents. Also, about north korea; it has one of the fewest numbers of nuclear warheads compared to other countries. America talks about non-proliferation as if it doesn't have more bombs than any nuclear power and hasn't already used them.
Very interesting opinions; and I'll be watching more of you. I refer you to Goering's statement about how easy it is to dupe the mass of the populace - just tell them they are under threat of eminent attact, tell 'em you alone can defend and save them, say that anyone disagreeing with you is unpatriotic... and bingo! you are the leader of the pack.
the exploitation of people must end...whether it is exploiting their deaths to make war, exploiting their poverty to make money, or exploiting their lack of knowledge to trick them...this shit has to be challenged and that is the real battle...this is where people need to enlist themselves and make a stand...
One of the largest problems is that it is comfortable to be complicit with attrocity, by which i mean it is comfortable to play video games, watch movies, and surf youtube and in america these sorts of comforts are available even to the impoverished masses, it's much easier to save the world (via wii) than it is to make even the slightest positive affect on reality
I can't remember a single game in which you are rewarded for NOT killing your opponent, but i have played many a game wherein the hero 'tries' the diplomatic option but the enemy won't be reasoned with and violence becomes the only option
That's the only way to make the game fun...killing, maiming, and destroying is fantastic when it's in a virtual form...ahh I do love to churn my foes to butter with the chainsaw bayonette in Gears of War.
Such violence would only give the powers that be even more excuse for the oppressive extremes and horrors they heap upon us.
Liberties - once lost - are hard to regain.
If anything, what we need are people willing to protest loudly and stop business until those liberties are restored - and until an attempt is made to restore a balance.
It all boils down to those who "have" vs those who "have not". And those who "have" will splinter the masses to make them manageable. If the violence were pitted against those responsible for suffering, banks and office buildings would be burning around the globe.
Exactly! there is nothing the 'haves' enjoy more than white supremeism, gang violece, religious extremism, drug dealing, and substance abuse, let the have nots destroy themselves and each other while they reap the rewards of both our sins and our punishments and use them as justification to take power

Note: N.Korea has WMDs aplenty.
Sanctions, threats, or condemnations: zero.

and in the process become desensitized to acts of violence...

Yes, and used to the idea of 'the enemy' being a very real and very stoppable force (if you shoot enough of 'them')

and often that is the only solution offered to conquer 'the enemy'...diplomacy is rarely used...

I guess they need better writers & programmers to come up with a workable diplomatic ai...they must spend a lot more time on the other shit...

Ballence is the key, in this eastern religion is strongly right, there must be ballence or all things will fall, whether from underneath or above...
