I always imagine that when Michael Flatley goes and dances with the rest of the dancers, I always imagine it's kind of like them dancing in front of their boss, and it's pressure to them.
This first scene is also reminiscent of Saturnalia of the ancient Romans; When the peasants would take the place of royalty or the wealthy for one day of humility & vice-versa, however the Court Jester, Harlequin, or Joker is a common figure amongst ancient clans who regarded the hermaphroditic clown figure as the keeper or shaman. Every story was told by the shaman or in the high courts, the Court Jester who, at one time, was regarded as a god-like figure but reduced to the status of clown.
It's strange, this version of Lord of the Dance (Feet of Flames) has more of a Masonic/Illuminati theme than the previous shows. The use of Sol Invictus (Roman), Green Man, Egyptian and there's even a Zoroastrian (Persian) element as well with the "Fire Dance". It wouldn't surprise me if Flatley was a Mason of a very high degree.
Maybe it's just because I've gotten so used to seeing Gillian Norris and Bernadette Flynn in the leading roles that I just can't warm up to Sarah Clarke and LeAnn McKenna taking over the roles. They do a fantastic job, but I don't know. I guess I miss Bernie and Gillian.
@sceali well... actually they didn't. The only thing they did was to film some dance numbers, not the whole show... :S there are plenty of them missing in 'Michael Flatley's Gold'. . . .

Regardless, it's an amazing show.

I wish they would put this entire version of the show on DVD one day. I really do. It would be great to see the definitive version of this.
