  • This is probably one of the coolest, most touching music videos I've ever seen!

  • Only Cover I'll allow just more honour than anything else

  • jr cash...powerful stuff here man..rip cash...

  • You go know he made this song because his dog died, june died after this.

  • @TheAidan134 sorry to say but this song was actually done by trent reznor of nine inch nails. johnny cash made a cover of this song

  • Those 205 Dislikes can go to hell

  • @SinxForr amen

  • Is this about Bipolar disorder? lol, it sounds like it.

  • It´s a goodbye song from a tired old man, tired of the pain of living to the woman he loved and that is why it is beautifull, because everyone got tired of living at some point of his or her life and we all stick by the ones we love until we cant hold on anymore, i´m young i will hold on he wasnt, so as goodbyes go that is one of the most beautifull i have ever heard.

  • This song is as real as any song could possibly get. It is raw and makes you feel things you never wanted to, but it's also cathartic. Johnny Cash will always be a legend! So amazing. ;)

  • this song makes me so emotional.

  • Legend sadly missed! RIP

  • bonne anniversaire l homme en noir...j'ai pas fini de t'ecouter !!!!!!!!!!

  • Great Song!

  • happy b day !

  • Meeting Cash was easily one of the biggest memories I have as a kid. He picked me up, said "You obeying yer Mama?" I said "Yes" He said "Yes what?" I said "Yes sir." & then he said "You make sure you make your Daddy proud too, son." then gave me a hug, looked me straight in the eyes & said, "I'll be watching you from above one day, so you better!" Then he smiled. What a cool memory to have as a kid. Cash is a legend. My 3yr old son already knows half his songs. :)

  • Happy Birthday Johnny.

  • Woke up with this version in my head this morning, came here to watch it and found out by the comments today is Johnny Cash's 80th birthday. If anyone needs a medium to talk to the dude, I guess here I am.

  • happy birthday johnny cash and R.I.P. It was nice meeting you man,i love your music.

  • Happy birthday, sir. R.I.P The Man In Black.

  • Happy birthday <3

  • the great 80...man in black rip...

  • Happy Birthday Johnny Cash! RIP

  • Comment removed

  • Happy 80th Birthday JR Cash. Thnx for the memories.

  • fuck me enough said gr8

  • One of the very few covers that's actually better than the original... Rest in peace, JC. You were such a gifted, talented and brilliant...extremely brilliant man.

  • Ad say about 200+ people don't have a life or don't have any respect for a legendary MAN!!

  • i got only one thing to say... fking amazing song

  • I get goosebumps every time....

  • People who disliked this, probably just did it for a mistake.

  • Is this song speaking about Heroin?

  • @johnlennon1970 nope, it's just a cover of a song by NIN. it's mainly about depression

  • @johnlennon1970

I don't agree entirely with wrathvenge - It is about depression and self-destructive behavior, and the realization that fame and wealth are not enough to take the pain away. Yet Reznor was a heroin addict and think the "the needle tears a hole" is pretty obvious. So it references addiction as part of the pattern of depression. I have also seen references to Reznor cutting himself, so I think that may be an aspect as well.

  • how the fuck you dislike this listen to the words

  • you are someone else and i am still right here...

  • better than nine inch nails

  • Trent Reznor >?Johnny Cash Sure Cash did a great job, but the original is always better. It was more raw and had a purpose in terms of the concept of the album it was written for. Btw Crown of THORNS? no no....I do believe it is Crown of SHIT.

  • @MrLawllawlland

I'm just fine with Crown of Thorns. It's his interpretation, and I agree with some sources,

I think it was his last hurrah, and he knew it.

  • this song is epic r.i.p johnny cash

  • This song just reminds me exactly of how broken a human being I am on the inside.

  • The pain is immortal, but not happiness, that's why we need to live day to day.

  • El mejor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My brother committed suicide this Valentines day. We played this song at his funeral and it made sense. He was a great person, always caring about others, but he all he felt was pain. He hid it from us, but now we know.. I miss him, it's so hard dealing with his death. This song makes so much sense to me.. it hurts..

  • @XordHacker sorry for your loss he no longer feels any pain

  • @XordHacker I am so sorry to read of your sadness-not that I knew your brother or know you but because we are all bound together and your note in connection with this rewarding of a terrific song helps underscore that connection. I hope somehow, in some way, you can heal.

  • Johnny cash just totally nailed this song!!!! I love him grew up listening to him and Johnny was for the poor people. He was one of the first to ever sing in a prison!! He is better than Nine Inch Nails!!!!

  • @Ladyv117 Man comparing Johnny Cash to NIN is like comparing Jesus to Allah. Completely different. And whether or not Johnny is better, NIN still wrote this beautiful song.

  • @magnetica2288 can i add i agree NIN did write it but trent reznor said himself that johnny made this song what it is and gave it a whole new meaning

  • @morton1993ful absolutely, NIN version isnt very good lol... but as u say sometimes it takes someone else to give it meaning..... i wonder how many other lost songs there are

  • i finally figured out what the songs means, johhny cash, probably gonna go out as one of the BEST singers i have ever listened to, He'd have the american dream, money, fame, but without people to love and care about, you have nothing. beacuse with out having people. no amount of money or populairty will help.

    Dark Meaning, Great Song!

  • My God... I just couldn't help bursting into tears. This is simply too much to take in from one video. God bless Johhny Cash and June as well, and may they rest in peace.

  • This song still gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.

  • the compositor said that he has never heard his version again after he listened the jony cash one :)

  • the 203 people that dislike this song are gonna get done like delia got done!!!

  • nine inch nails made the song. Johnny Cash lived it

  • @darrius13sniper My understanding is that NIN was honoured that Cash wanted to sing this song by them. What a life Johnny Cash had and what he gave to us was in a word a " blessing "

  • johnny fuckin cash #enuff said

  • Jesus? WTF? i thinks its unrelated to jesus

  • i like johnny cashs version better than the real song by nine inch nails, his voice has way more emotion and plus hes a legend so this song fits perfect

    kudos johnny

  • This version has more effect on me than Trent Reznor's version. I'm not saying that one is better than the other, just every time I hear this I cry, especially with the video. And the last 4 lines really get to me! Beautiful song.

  • man every time i hear this riddim it makes a lasting impact B.E.Autiful

  • piękne i smutne, slucha sie niesamowicie

  • those 202 people who dislikes this video will rot for that!

  • Requiescat in pace Jony Cash

  • no one i know believes me when i say this is a cover of a nine inch nails song because cash made this song sound so original

  • my ears needed to be cleaned with real music after i heard justin bieber

  • Johnny Cash is one of the greatist singers in all of music history...i was one of the lucky ones that acctually got to meet him in person...i saw sadness and sorrow in his eyes but something about him made everyone around him smile...he was....is one of the great ones. R.I.P. Johnny Cash

  • omg this song is so dam good

  • this song makes me think alot about my life of how i used to be and how i am now.

  • It seems that 201 people are retarded bieber fans. This song is the perfect swan song for the man in black. One hell of a girl introduced me to this song, and now I can't stop listening to it everyday because it is so perfect. Thank you Andrea, and thank you Jhony for your amazing music, R.I.P.

  • CRYING. look at my page darlings<3

  • Thumbs up if you are not a pussy and didn't cry

  • liked the song... FAP FAP FAP FAP FAP!!!

  • I didn't cry because I am not a pathetic loser crying out for attention. I did hit the replay button a dozen or so times though :)

  • great song

  • So God sent forth Johnny Cash to give us heavenly music.

  • legend

  • I cry every time I hear this song, and see the video. It's so full of emotion and sorrow, and seeing a good man his age sound so morose is heartbreaking. Johnny, you we're such a kind hearted man, with talent bursting at the seams. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that you live forever in many hearts. Thanks for blessing us with such great, meaningful music.

  • Legend.......that's all you can say about this man

  • Shows you what a true artist life was!!! Love this song...

  • this song so describes my sensibility i luv it guys

  • This is real music. It has a soul. You don't get much music with soul and heart nowadays.

  • @nfl10032 true

  • @beigeflowers go die in a hole.

  • He died 3 months after his wife:( R.I.P Johnny!

  • one of the most happiest songs i have ever heard

  • I love this song

  • I thank Trent Reznor for writing this tune. He definitely played it well with Nine Inch Nails, but this really does cap Johnny Cash's life quite well. It really gives him a closure that "God's Gonna Cut You Down" never will in my opinion.

  • Dear God

im only 16 and i relate to this song.....im ******** up my life already.

  • cried when i heard this... reminds me of myself and how in the end, no matter how much you might care about something, it all goes away in the end..... : '(

  • i'm sad....damn

  • I like it.

But it still can't surpass Nine Inch Nails for me, ever. Especially not with the backdrop of the album The Downward Spiral.

  • this was my grandfathers song.... i miss him so much.

  • We need another Johnny Cash!

  • @statheson7 There will never be another man as good as Johnny Cash.... never, ever, ever..

  • A long full life is what he lived. I hear how content he had become when I hear this song. He courted and loved a beautiful woman. I see that in the video. I aspire to this.

  • @DNAdrianMorris what?

  • haha simply put Johnny Cash made a song written by Nine Inch Nails sound better than it was before.

  • one of the few remakes that ive ever heard that is better then the original

  • you could have it all, my empire of dirt.

  • seriously dislikes fuck all of you suck my dick...this is music i listen to rap n alot of other things but this music is part of my soul etched in stone feel me !!

  • ennyire szépen ,gyönyörűen még senki nem ment el... Isten veled drága Johny ....nem tud már megismételni már az élet.......

  • And does the song done by the man who wrote it give you the same goosebumps? Do you love it still when you realize Johnny was simply covering a song?

  • @ianmason2003 Yes on both accounts. He sings the song from his heart, making it his own. The words reach to me regardless of where they originate, but the power and emotion he brings really makes me think on my whole existence and how awesome life is.

  • @ianmason2003 a damn good cover at that

  • I'm at loss as to how 200 people could dislike this.... savages.

  • The haters First of all they dont have heart and dont know of good music R.I.P Johhny cash

    (This song is very touching)

  • моќна песна..

It makes a man reflect on his past.

Remembrance of all the things a man has done in his life.

    Hhmmm.

  • fads come and go but some things are meant to stay.though the man is gone his voice will be immortal.johnny cash forever.

  • I grew up with Johnny Cash. Hard to think of him as gone. His music will survive for centuries to come.
