First of all since someone wants a pet beaver i assume they will give them shots to prevent rabies, like a dog. Also you can keep a beaver from chewing on things, just like dogs chew on things. Furthermore, im sure you can keep a place for it to use the bathroom...like a dog. So the way i see it, if you can keep a dog why not try for a beaver. Seems like common sense to me...

@xxKoRndudexx dogs have been domesticated for hundreds of thaousands of years...beavers have not. they are wild animals. the domestication process takes about 40 generations in foxes, so i can imagine it would be about the same for a beaver...but if you read the caption of the video, these guys are in a wildlife facility...not a family pet...

Well you have to start the domestication chain sometime or another, so i do suppose that would be one good reason for having one as a pet.
