Golden Sun DS IMO dissapointed me

Golden Sun TLA & GS1 were fucking amazing and brought back TONS and TONS of memories from early 2000 on my old gba :) good times

After Golden sun 2 Goldensun will go downhill with the old age gamers who played 1 and 2 as a child because in DD they added a secret shadow clan, the world got corrupted,where the fuck was the giant scope and the greatwall of china in GS 1 and 2?? and also there seems to be Darkpsynergy uses..what the hell will Camelot do? i believe they shouldve answered questions from GS2 and also why did 50 years have to go by? and also why is Alex all powerfull if at first he was lame and useles to saturos

I must concur that yes Golden Sun is probably the best RPG Trilogy ever made!

The Music was awesome, the Gameplay was awesome, it definately did show some form of Graphical Restraint, but, who cares.

Oh, and I thought that Doom Dragon was easy!

This is probably #1 for me, with some battle themes from Lunar 2 Eternal Blue coming in a close second.

As for this theme, it could go on forever and I wouldn't get tired of it. This is an example of how music can enhance an experience; random encounters are always kind of a pain, but when they're coupled with a song this great...? Doesn't seem so bad all of a sudden.

How is this 31? The RPG that completely owned final fantasy... The visuals, the music, the story, the addictive gameplay, and the ability to suck you into a world where you lived one of your greatest adventures yet.... What an amazing game.. Truly the best RPG to ever grace the GBA and perhaps, the entire gaming industry.

@TheLastMyztery Golden Sun literally STRAINED the GBA system, the number of sounds would overlap at times since there can only be so many channels, plus the GBA would actually have ACTUAL FRAMERATE DROPS from many of the special attacks... like Meteor.

@IkklThePickle its not a slo-mo effect, its actual frame rate drop, if it was slow-mo, then it would still be fluid in motion, the last time I checked, choppy video means frame rate drop.

@IkklThePickle funny that my copy seems to show low framerate. and just because the framerate drops, doesnt mean anything about a slowdown in music. when was the last time the music actually got choppy in any game when the visuals became choppy? the audio is only affected if its an actual prerendered video, like watching a movie, but games are rendered real time.

@Elc22 Upon making my last comment, I checked other summons like Eclipse and Charon and they were indeed choppy without any musical distortion. I still don't see it in Meteor, though.

I can think of some other attacks, both summons and psynergy, from the first game that did cause slowdown, though. Like every upper-tier attack that causes the camera to go panoramic, for instance.

@IkklThePickle Im going to assume you havent run into situations where a game crashes, yet the music keeps going... given that I have run into that kind of problem in the past, I can say that framerate has almost nothing to do with the music playing smoothly.

this kind of thing shows up most often on PC games, low framerate due to a bad graphics card does not mean the music starts playing slowly or choppy.

@Elc22 Well, yeah. PC games, sure. I was thinking more along the lines of how in older media formats it was sometimes obvious that the flow of the music was linked directly to the framerate. Like in the original Sonic the Hedgehog, where the PAL version of the game has noticeably slower music due to it running at 25 fps instead of the NTSC 30 fps.

And I'm pretty sure I've heard musical slowdown linked to framerate drop in modern games, but I guess that isn't a common occurrence.

dude, the FIRST golden sun was from 2001. AKA shortly after the release of the GBA.

Better sound effects? They fit perfectly. Track quality? Are you serious? The tracks ARE of high quality. These tracks are better than a LOT of things we get nowadays.

They wanted it to have that old-skool feel. It fits perfectly. Unless you're talking about Dark Dawn (which I do not currently own and therefore cannot judge), I don't understand what you're trying to say, so please clarify it

R/S had worse graphics than Golden Sun

FR/LG had different graphics than those.

They don't have better sound effects. GS and GS:TLA were essentially 1 game, split into two because of the length. Hence, GS:TLA uses the same/similar Sound effects as the 2001 version.

R/S were 03, FR/LG were 04, E was 05. Each had worse sound effects (albeit they got better in order).

Maybe a few were off or tad strange sounding, but its better than pokemon. Pokes got some weird-ass ones as well

When I was given this game for Christmas 2003, you would have had to prise it out of my cold, dead hands to stop me playing, and I would leave my GBA on for ages at battles just to hear this song.

Felix's battle theme > Issac's, but Issac > Felix. ^^

oh lord I pray, I PRAY...I pray...they use this theme for the battles in the DS game. OR if you have the gba game in the second slot it can unlock the music or something. Well If gs2 taught me anything its that the 3rd one will probably have a soundtest option with every track ever used from 1-3. IIEEEEE I HOPE MORE IS ANNOUNCED NEXT WEEK AT E3 2010

the problem is .. there are lots of glitches and programming errors in this game.. thats why lots of emulator suffers when there using the rom of gs and gs2.

I experienced it , in vbag emulator in my n95 and gpsp emulator in my psp . :)

I actually don't want this game remade. The clearly video game style of the music is what makes it so enjoyable for me. To redo it into full on orchestral mixes, while nice, makes it lose some of what we loved in it.

For a GBA RPG this game was incredibly advanced, with multiple character classes that could be changed on the fly, and with epic puzzles and with an element of weapon smithing. And the story presentation was pretty light hearted. Probably the best rpg ever released for the GBA

@CrossZiggy It's really not that bad :3 I think I'd rather have the sprites, but the 3D isn't done bad (for DS), they did take the time to get the most out of it, I think. Though the game feels incomplete because you can't go to back sometimes, and don't even get to visit some places (I wanted to see Bilibin :/). I still think it was a good game though :3

well I used Issac+jenna+ivan+sheba... jenna as ninja and ivan as healer. so pure raw attack almost no summonings and just sheba inreasing attack and resistances.

All you need is the actual emulator itself, which you can find with google, and the ROM. The emulator I use is Visualboy Advance. As per ROM's, they're all over. Just make sure you download one in a language you can read.
