  • I did my last ever run behind steam on the Redhill to Reading section of the line- Nov 1965 and you will be pleased to know it was 7829 Ramsbury Manor which must have been one of the last two active members at the time on shed at Reading- a very sprightly run. I don't know why we had 7829 but I am glad we did. I notice you have got your H Class going tender first with the Whyte classification!

  • Classic Southern footage, I remember Guildford in the 1960s and where was the USA Dock Tank?

  • guildford looks so much better than than it does now

  • oh good, would have loved to be an op then. but where i am is pretty good as well

  • great video, is that a bullied light pacific on a through train?

  • Yes - at 2:02 there's a rebuilt 'West Country' (after some close scrutiny I'm guessing 34007 'Wadebridge') coming into the down platform, and at 2:09 an unrebuilt 'Battle of Britain' on the up fast. I can't fathom which one, but you can bet that someone will make a positive ID and probably be able to tell you what colour undies the driver is wearing as well :-)

  • Wadebridge was never rebuilt, and survives today in her original form. Guess again :)

Every video on this channel is truly priceless, thank you for uploading them all.

  • Great to see some archive footage. I think I see more steam locomotives, now, than I did in that era.
