this really makes me sad. I miss this game so much. So many great memories. To me this was the best RPG I ever played. Truely rpgs are defined by their stories in which they present themselves. I am not talking about the storylines in this game, (which I still did like) but the stories shared and made with others. How else would you grow more attached to a character, when it is being controlled by another person. Losing someone you cared about in FFXI hurt more than any death in any videogame...

I've grown so attached to this game it's unbearable! I miss running round my Tarutaru on Summoner and Dragoon, seperately... and unleashing fury on the bastards! I also know Taru is bad for DRG, but I loved it... and yet kicked ass! Six years would be a long time for me!
The memories of soloing here to lvl 10 or 12...hell with it I'm coming back! Been gone a long time, having to start over will be a bitch but it'll give me something to do.
As with everyone else, this brings back memories, the friends and community most of all. No matter the situation, this music can make me feel great. With that being said, I will become a billionaire, and relaunch this game in about fifteen years, and hopefully when I do, you all will join me haha.
P.S. I understand this game is still operating, but not how it used to be. It is completely EG focused now. But I still bet it's more than amazing currently.
Dude this brings back so many memories, Grinding on rabbits and Getting slaughtered by a train of orcs all day! This was my Beginning! WAR was my first job, RDM was my first main both at 75 along with BLU and NIN. I wont forget everything Ive been through and the people i have met along the Way

I recently joined FFXIV and I'm loving it! It's much more advanced and just darn beautiful, it really gives more of a in-depth roleplaying feel compared to FFXI, I'm really enjoying it.

After 7 years of playing I still listen to the music of the game. I miss everyone who I have met over my time in the world of Vanadiel. Some say that online friendships aren't real at all, but I met some great people that I am honored to this day to still call a friend. Some are even best friends. Some met in game and got married in RL.This game has had a huge impact on people worldwide and I will never forget the experience that I had. Thank you SE!!

I hope FFXIV-2.0 doesn't end up like FFXI abyssea-era. It's as if Square had no idea what they had at one time.
the day that I started in sandoria as a Elvaan Warrior and I was such a simple noob that I didn't know a lot. so, when I got somewhat a tad bit far with my stat progress as my elvaan, than; everything was clear to me for 2 months. next, I started as a tarutaru in windurst, it was easy to know what to do in curtain situations but it wasn't easy being a tarutaru, although; it was fun seeing the world with the tarutaru view :D
Man this brings me back. I played FFXI for 5 years, and while the game had grown stale at the end, there are some experiences I'll never forget. Fighting rabbits in Ronfaure, endless Dune's parties, the Jungles, getting Sky access for the first time, getting my first job to 75, getting my airship pass, unlocking all the jobs (fuck you, Blue Mage lol), skilling up fishing post-patch >.<
Most of all, though, I miss my friends. Love you guys!

Funny, I've played a lot of MMO's over the years but I don't really remember anyone from any of the other ones. Goes to show how much of an impact the game made where even someone you saw in passing as you made your rounds sticks with you :)
I really miss it sometimes, but the funny thing is, I just wanna run around again, not even necessarily play the game. I can envision the entire run from Sandy to Jeuno in my head I did it so much LOL
@Effedup Oh geez, I remember running from Bastok to Jeuno. Actually, 99% of that game after WotG was me just prancing around in random areas. Literally... DNC ftw =x lol. I had fun on that job.
No other mmorpg had a better community than FFXI did. When server transfers came into play though, it didn't matter as much because you could steal the LS bank for example and hop servers with a name change.

I stopped playing long time ago, but someone told me FFXI its not fun anymore.
@aaRulas Yeah, Abyssea ruined what FFXI once was but it was necessary as server populations were extremely low making all of the old content impossible to form a group of 12+ players impossible for 90% of the Linkshells on any given server.
What a song...after playing from 2003 to 2006 and making an appearance in 2009, I've decided to come back again as soon as the character reactivation is up again :) hope to see many people still on the game!!
Hearing this definitely makes me miss the game. This reminds me of when I unlocked summoner, and summoned Carbuncle for the first time. Such great times.
Favorite thing to do while I'm playing FFXIV, is to shut off all the sounds of that game and simply put a playlist of all the XI music I cherish. Ronfaure being one of those tracks, Campaign.... ehhhh not so much.
I miss this game. Only ever got to level 62 with full Paladin AF, but still! I was so hoping that FF14 would be like a sequel to this game, but sadly, FF14 to this day doesn't even have an auction house the equipment system is broken, allowing you to wear stuff that is much higher than your current level, which is just silly. It reduces your stats a bit if you are lower than "suggested" level but still. Lvl 10 guys shouldn't be able to wear cool looking stuff till they are the right level.
@whiteknightbob1 It's actually the opposite. Why do you EVEN need a certain level to be able to wear an Armor? I didn't need to fight random animals or my brother to ''level up'' and be able to wear my own t-shirt and weild that fake sword my friend bough.
@NeoArashi I understand your point... and its valid... but obtaining the level to actually wear the "cool looking" stuff is part of the reward of doing the work and also an incentive to want to level up. That would have stunk if every Level 1 Paladin could just put on the awesome level 60 Paladin AF that we had to work so hard to obtain(both in quests AND in grinding out levels). Leveling up/becoming more powerful and getting new equipment and item upgrades are a huge part of RPGs.
@Koricthegreat (What in the world, this reply is 2 months old but I'm just now getting it? rar?) But yes, unfortunately not auction house... just a big room with a TON of NPC's that you put your stuff on to sell... talk about lag and confusion. Maybe one day FF14 WILL be the FF11-2 we all dreamed of. Till that day comes, I'm having a blast on SWTOR anyhow so I'm fine for now. Have a blessed one ppulz!

Listening to this song just makes me want to close my eyes and dream of a place like Ronfaure, a place with happiness and laughter, with no wars or hate.
I remember those days when u started with a char and u were all the way like exploring and discovering everything! zones, items, jobs, etc.. it was a rare feeling of something that hardly i will feel again!
This game gave us, the players, so much great memories of adventures and so friendly people all over the world of Vana'diel >.> omg I wish I could go back in time to play it again :(

I'm no big fan of FF XI, I have to admit (great style and atmosphere, but didn't like the gameplay that much). But its Soundtrack is awsome! One of Uematsus best works imo.
Such profound music. Definitaly one of the best songs in the game, along with the Sanctuary of Zi'Tah! This was more than just a gaming experience, and I have yet to find an MMO that will make me feel the same way. Miss you FFXI, and your community.
I may have moved on from FFXI, but I will forever remember it. It was more than a game to me and I have memories of it greater than that you have of most games. Even though I never plan to play again, as it has declined from it's peak and I have found an MMO that gives me close to the same feeling, at least I can listen to the music all I want!
@fullmetallegend i definitely relate to that. this game was pretty much my life for years but i quit because my server's RMT's just got too out of hand, it wasnt fun anymore. all my friends quit. so i started playing WoW, but it's not even the same. i have fun but it doesnt have the charm this game had. there will never be anything like this again and im proud to have been a part of it.

awww...i only played this game for one month, cause of the free trial[i started 1day before christmas - jan somethin 2010-2011] I was wondering around some town, figuring out the controls on my own.I played from my xbox360. lol just reminds me of that, my server was rimuh? but switched to shiva.
There are other mmo's that have very strong music, there are better online musics but this one is on one of top of the list easily. Best ffxi music hands down, no question about it.
7 years.. soo worth it. I miss but I cannot return, today i feel the pull yet sadly resist, like all the times I hear this song and many of the great tracks of this game. This game cannot be replaced. it simply is a memory of a time past, where one could enjoy his time with others, now these new MMO break us apart to fight one another for our own glories rather than the combined might of a nation of gamers.

I haven't played this game in so long, but I remember my many times roaming Ronfaure, hunting Jaggedy-Eared Jack for that bloody charm he dropped. I think I killed that rabbit 20 times to no avail. And yet my one friend killed him once and got it. If only you could stab people over the internet :D

What an amazing soundtrack this game has, you don't fully realise it when you're playing at the time and this brings back some good memories, have to great friends from that game and if I had to do it again, I would.

FFXI changed my life and gave me fond memories of friends and gave me an adventure worth telling.
Something I would never get in any other game.
I doubt any of my old friends from my LS would remember. But all of those times adventuring and chatting around the fire, I will never forget.

Funny, I've played a lot of MMO's over the years but I don't really remember anyone from any of the other ones. Goes to show how much of an impact the game made where even someone you saw in passing as you made your rounds sticks with you :)
I really miss it sometimes, but the funny thing is, I just wanna run around again, not even necessarily play the game. I can envision the entire run from Sandy to Jeuno in my head I did it so much LOL

No other mmorpg had a better community than FFXI did. When server transfers came into play though, it didn't matter as much because you could steal the LS bank for example and hop servers with a name change.

im proud of being a piece of this game with all the other players who started playing from the very beginning, and left the game for several reasons, and yeah, the beginning of FFXI was great, unable to explain with words.
I stopped playing long time ago, but someone told me FFXI its not fun anymore.

@aaRulas Yeah, Abyssea ruined what FFXI once was but it was necessary as server populations were extremely low making all of the old content impossible to form a group of 12+ players impossible for 90% of the Linkshells on any given server.

Favorite thing to do while I'm playing FFXIV, is to shut off all the sounds of that game and simply put a playlist of all the XI music I cherish. Ronfaure being one of those tracks, Campaign.... ehhhh not so much.

I miss this game. Only ever got to level 62 with full Paladin AF, but still! I was so hoping that FF14 would be like a sequel to this game, but sadly, FF14 to this day doesn't even have an auction house the equipment system is broken, allowing you to wear stuff that is much higher than your current level, which is just silly. It reduces your stats a bit if you are lower than "suggested" level but still. Lvl 10 guys shouldn't be able to wear cool looking stuff till they are the right level.

@whiteknightbob1 It's actually the opposite. Why do you EVEN need a certain level to be able to wear an Armor? I didn't need to fight random animals or my brother to ''level up'' and be able to wear my own t-shirt and weild that fake sword my friend bough.

@NeoArashi I understand your point... and its valid... but obtaining the level to actually wear the "cool looking" stuff is part of the reward of doing the work and also an incentive to want to level up. That would have stunk if every Level 1 Paladin could just put on the awesome level 60 Paladin AF that we had to work so hard to obtain(both in quests AND in grinding out levels). Leveling up/becoming more powerful and getting new equipment and item upgrades are a huge part of RPGs.

But yes, unfortunately not auction house... just a big room with a TON of NPC's that you put your stuff on to sell... talk about lag and confusion. Maybe one day FF14 WILL be the FF11-2 we all dreamed of. Till that day comes, I'm having a blast on SWTOR anyhow so I'm fine for now. Have a blessed one ppulz!

I'm fully aware of being blinded by nostalgia, but 6 years later I haven't found an MMO that gives me the same emotions. WoW has a great engine and is fun to play with friends but it just doesn't have that massive feel and immersive world

EVEN sitting in Jeuno, for hours waiting for a party, cause I was too lazy to start my own. FFXI was so f*cking epic. :') the wonderful memories, beating gilfarmers to a mob and getting the drop, classic stuff! Asura/Remora/Unicorn All day!

While this song is Uematsu, every other song will be Mizuta.

I may have moved on from FFXI, but I will forever remember it. It was more than a game to me and I have memories of it greater than that you have of most games. Even though I never plan to play again, as it has declined from it's peak and I have found an MMO that gives me close to the same feeling, at least I can listen to the music all I want!

@fullmetallegend i definitely relate to that. this game was pretty much my life for years but i quit because my server's RMT's just got too out of hand, it wasnt fun anymore. all my friends quit. so i started playing WoW, but it's not even the same. i have fun but it doesnt have the charm this game had. there will never be anything like this again and im proud to have been a part of it.

Im starting this game up again, I played XIV which is fail at the moment and to this day I haven't found an MMO quite like this one. Made some really good memories on this game and this music brings them all back thanks for the upload ^_^

There are other mmo's that have very strong music, there are better online musics but this one is on one of top of the list easily. Best ffxi music hands down, no question about it.

7 years.. soo worth it. I miss but I cannot return, today i feel the pull yet sadly resist, like all the times I hear this song and many of the great tracks of this game. This game cannot be replaced. it simply is a memory of a time past, where one could enjoy his time with others, now these new MMO break us apart to fight one another for our own glories rather than the combined might of a nation of gamers.

I haven't played this game in so long, but I remember my many times roaming Ronfaure, hunting Jaggedy-Eared Jack for that bloody charm he dropped. I think I killed that rabbit 20 times to no avail. And yet my one friend killed him once and got it. If only you could stab people over the internet :D
