i´ve once used xplane 7 and there was no doubt about which one is better but with this i see it difficult to decide

@manhenk I agree. Personally, I am more of an fsx fan, but in the video you'll notice that the scenery and the graphics look very similar. HOWEVER, when you actually PLAY one of these simulators, the graphics are never what you want them to be like.

I guess it all comes down to trying them both and choosing for yourself. It's really hard to get a good idea in your video because the quality of the video is so low and pixelated. It did kind of look like X-Plane 9 offered better scenery though I must say.

And I agree with you on FLIGHT, they are making a arcade game, not a sim. And anyway, i would like to fly anywhere, not just Hawaii.

@bluekhon11 Really they could have just updated the engine a bit and autogen but were too lazy. And XP is the most realistic you can get in terms of flying dynamics. Just make sure you get XP10, XP9 has the same graphics as FSX but is much more demanding of your system.

I tryed x-plane 9 and fsx is far better. For x-plane 10 (graphics are better, but fsx is already 6 years old), the principal problem, for x-plane 10, it is the keyboard configuration (big pain).

I have both Xplane 9 and FSX. Xplane just doesn't have all the stuff that makes FSX so much fun. You can add a lot of good quality free scenery and planes to Xplane but you have to download everything because the world is literally blank until you install some scenery (except for the small default airport). the flight dynamics in Xplane are much better than the default FSX planes, but good payware planes in FSX are just as good.

Both sims are good, but fail in important ways.

For example, neither one does a good job simulating a full-trim glide. Many flight instructors don't know what one is, but it's a life-saver in an emergency! Basically, if you set the trim to full up with no power, the plane will immediately (and automatically) settle right on the best rate of glide with no stick pressure, allowing you to focus on where to land.

In both simulators, doing this immediately results in a stall - 100% wrong.

I think that combining this two simulators you would get a miracle... FSX is better for me, but it simulates aircraft behavior using the parameters given in the .air file. This means that you can make a box fly 900 km\h. X-Plane simulates the aircrafts as if they were in air, so a box would behave as it would in real life. On the other hand, fsx has better scenery, graphics and user interface. X-Plane is hard to understand. And thats a - for X-Plane.

@searchanddiscover If you are a hardcore pilot, go for X-Plane. I'm pretty hardcore (and I have both sims) but I still prefer FSX because it looks SO MUCH nicer and has an EXTREMELY large range of add-on products that make FSX feel much more realistic. At the moment, go for FSX. I realise that X-Plane 10, the long awaited sim just came out, but it's not worth the hype it's getting. Like I said, at the moment, go for FSX.

FSX is more eye candy than realistic... x-plane is more realistic, it's even got a version with FAA certification... plus, in my experience x-plane has also been a lot less hard on the system, FSX barely is playable on my machine, whereas other games like Crysis are superb.

@XCorinatorX With all due respect , I find the flight models questionable. While I have not actually flown a real aircraft, I have flown on A320's and B737's and I was conscientiously trying to get a feel of the aircraft from taxi to wheels up to wheels down. In X-Plane during taxi the plane was bouncy and when turning and then leveling out there's a kinda "shift" in the plane of motion. FSX was clean and sharp with no bounce or shift. To me FSX looks better and fly's more realistically.

I think that they are both great for different reasons. Fsx goes more into graphical realism(which causes sloppy fps on slow systems) an Xplane goes into more physical realism to make it feel as if you are actually flying a plane. However i enjoy multiplayer and fsx has more users, and for that reason, Fsx. It was a hard decision as they are both amazing (I have xplane 4ghdef for iPhone - amazing app - would recommend it to all

X-plane has some nice features, but FSX can do everything x-plane can. FSX has the better cockpits, airplane models, and better default airport and city scenery. Now if you want to pull the whole "FAA certified" spiel on me, yes your right, but not the desktop version, there are levels of x-plane, level 1 is the desktop copy, not for flight training, level 3-4 is for training usage, and PMDG makes payware CERTIFIED by boeing for FSX...So FSX is the winner by miles, unless you get the level 5 XP
