  • Well,as much as I can stay away from "built" engines I would--only because I'd have interesting experiences on the Porsche, Toyota and M3 end. Probably my fault as I didn't use the absolute best of the best. so, if money no object, sure--best engine builder (dunno who that is yet though) for a 3.4L and a good turbo that nets me 1000whp with no more lag than 5000rpm by 3rd gear and I'm a happier camper..sure! :)

  • I hate you because I love your car!

  • That supra Drinks gas.

  • Do you use it as an everyday car? and is it driveable in the wet?

  • @aksaboutm3:@aksaboutm3: I use it to drive to work very much, yes, but not all the time so as to not get too used to it. But you can drive every day, yes. Any yes, any car is drivable in wet/snow with decent enough tire and as long as you're not flooring it. This car doesn't have to be full-throttled all the time, ;). I have an M3 with no traction control that, with snow tires, gets through snow just fine.

  • @PM332 thanks for the reply ur lucky to have this car

  • @aksaboutm3: thank you and I do feel that way every time I get in the car. And to answer question, yes you can make it into daily driver, but you don't want to. So much performance but noise gets old, and you don't want to get used to it. My supra is very reliable, but I like to drive my beater to balance things out and "miss" the Supra, sort of speak. My beater (not my M3) is probably worth $500. lol. if you can afford a supra you can afford a beater, and I recommend them!

  • @PM332 haha ok thanks man, i get ya... u want it to be exciting everytime u drive it so u dont drive it all the time.

  • @PM332 very nice supra :) im a big fan... you have pretty awesome numbers on pump gas... do you have a ballpark estimate of how much you would be making on C16 with maximum boost?

  • @supra1722: thanks.The SP71-GTS is rated at a max 850whp.

  • @PM332 oh nice... so are you aiming for a powerful, but still relatively easy to drive type setup?

  • @supra1722:naturally I want as much power as possible. However, since stock block, I just wanna keep it under 600 lb-ft of torque throughout. I just have more piece of mind this way. so it turns out to "about" 650-680whp with what I run,and probably around 550-580 lb-ft of torque. Even at 800whp it'd be easy to drive because if I spin too hard I can always reduce ignition timing in midrange anyway---just don't wanna hurt the motor and make it last a while! 3 yrs+ this way and so far so good! :)

  • @PM332 yessir even the mighty 2jz would have problems with more power on the stock block... very nice... btw i have a small question for you... i was wondering how the most powerful 2jz stock block can produce 1068hp? they must have modified internals wouldn't they?

  • @supra1722:well any engine cannot live thru detonation, which most cars break with.I've heard SP bending a stock rod at 1400whp,but that doesn't mean car would survive this for long while at 1200hp either.1068hp is believable because torque isn't that high (big turbo,3.0-liter equals relatively low torque and higher rpm needed).so he was probably making 750 lb-ft,which is livable.1000 lb-ft--different story (that would be 1400hp or so on supra, depending on turbo).

  • @supra1722: I could make 800whp and tune to 600 lb-ft across board with different turbo if I wanted, but it would probably mean higher rpm, and that's another limiter since I don't want to exceed limits of stock rod bolts. So I keep to 7400rpm rev limit.so that, combined with 600 lb-ft ceiling, keeps me at this power level with THIS turbo. But there is wiggle room..just not in my pocket for another turbo for now, ;). hope this makes sense.

  • @PM332 yessir i understand... when you were starting the build, were you ever thinking of opting towards the more expensive but more torquey twin setup for more easier drivability with less lag and more low-end torque? (i am a single turbo guy though).. haha yessir i am supra crazy it makes sense :)

  • @supra1722:actually I did not but for no particular reason except cost and less things to go wrong.I'm fine with lag. if it drove me crazy I'd use SP's newer anti-lag flap that goes on ext mani and reduces by 500rpm. or I'd get one of the newer Borg Warner turbos. all that still less cost than twins today I think.to me, more torque means more wheelspin, and/or more things breaking if/when I hook up. lol. So I'm good where I'm at! :)

  • @PM332 nice... i also am a single turbo fan... lag actually makes it kinda harder to drive (in a way) and im fine with that... if i may ask, if you had a bit higher of a budget, would you have done anything different such as using a race engine and a larger turbo system?

    thanks for your time :)

  • @PM332 upload some videos from your m3 i like m series BMW's too :DDD

  • Awesome power, but in reality isn't it too much because all you're getting is wheel spin?

  • @szln6z Ok, scratch that post. What I thought was wheel spin turns out to be the turbo waste gate (maybe?)

  • @szln6z: When you see the speedo shoot in 3rd gear, that's wheelspin, and yes it's too much power..in 1st/2nd/3rd gears, but for those tires (285/30-18 summer tires).Still, with those tires,it goes well after 70mph. now it's got 305/35-18 R-compound race rubber, and it hooks up well in 3rd gear, and 2nd is like 3rd here in the video. You'll never be able to put down this much power without all-wheel drive (even traction control technically won't deliver the max power, as it cuts it).

  • Can someone explain me why all the people take a mono-turbo over a twin turbo? Most of the supras got modified with it. But i think i am right if i say twin turbos are more driveable, arent i? Or do the people just want to get the feeling of a single turbo ("turbo boost" as we say in german)?

  • @ps3phreak: the two stock turbos peak about 400-450whp. They just don't flow much more than that. With a larger single--more power capability. Some do twin "larger" turbos but that is much much more costly than just doing one big single.

  • @PM332 thanks for your answer. got kinda things like that in my mind... twin turbo, twin cost. lol

  • @PM332 Also i must admit, the supra sound so much sexier with a single ;)

  • its the wastegate!

  • sex

  • This vid Has now become one of my favorites. I'm now building my 95 supra tt 6spd n have now decided on what turbo to get because of this vid.

  • BOV sounds like the car is giggling

  • it might sound cool, but that's not good at all man, that's some serious compressor surge there, you're killing your turbo dude

  • I love that motor! And I love the whole car itself! Supras are some of my favorite cars!

  • nice bov sound. what type is it ?

  • @sinan54turkey: Turbonetics Godzilla

  • Comment removed

  • @sinan54turkey - it's not a nice sound. That sound is the turbo spinning backwards and it's not ideal.

  • that was great

  • Comment removed

  • PM332, you don't spin anymore with the RA-1's right? Do you mind posting a vid? I plan on going 71mm in the near future and would love to see the acceleration!

  • @Tw1nturbosupra: if it's sub 60F then yes, and always if it's the first "rip" of the day with cold tires (so if I rip 2nd gear I might hook up in third, but not when third roll-on because more torque/cold tires). Speedo vid with that will be less impressive because, since these tires are like 1in taller, speedo reads 100 when actually doing 109!

  • lol, I'm ducking the whole time toward the pass seat so you can't see my head--I'm pretty much over the e-brake. so I'm glad it was very short lived! The things I do for your entertainment. ;)

  • @PM332 tbh your car is beast, sick camera so it makes your videos extremely enjoying

  • LOLOLOLOL I SWEAR I SAW THE GAS GAUGE GO DOWN A NOTCH AND A HALF!

  • @lalmatte: lol it did go down a half-notch there. I get about 18-20mpg hwy cruising, but average 14-15mpg because I only drive this car when I know I'll get on it a few times. That said, in this vid it's doing roughly 1-2mpg, no lie. At low-boost 350whp on track with my E36 M3 turbo I was getting 4mpg, losing 1/3 tank of 17gal tank in 15min stint.

  • you should hit the rev while your doing a run you'll piss people off i dont know why but its funny lol

  • I saw this supra today it was amazing

  • omg man the bov and turbo!!!! awesome!!

  • I often wonder what a 1000hp Supra feels like..........or if its really too much power to be harnessed on the streets (especially here in NYC)!! LOL

  • @755hp its too much dude.

i struggle to harness 600whp on vastly more open roads than you have in NYC

highway pulls are one thing but driving that shit around is purely retarded :)

  • @adamgm84: and I live in Kansas, lol

  • @755hp : was in a 1000+whp E36 M3 in streets of Stamford once. Broke tires loose in 5th gear on the highway at 115mph (tranny was instantly gone, lol). so yes, it was too much, lol.

  • @PM332 its stock?

  • @ilovespeed33: Hi, yes just K&N drop-in and a few stickers. ;)

  • Wow.

  • Jesus I love the wheelspin in supras my most favorite thing about them when driving! Also wow 285 tires those are HUGE lol

  • @jersthecool 285s actually arent that big. A 275 can be fitted on a Stock Supra rim without rolling a fender or anything.

  • @vXGWOODXv Yeah I'm just saying they're huge when most people run like 215s and 235s! I laugh at the civics that run like 175s lol

  • @jersthecool I know the feeling, my MKIV has 275s and my Corolla has 185s :-/

  • @vXGWOODXv So jealous MKIV is my dream car! I have a 240SX with 195's lol

  • @vXGWOODXv: 305/35-18s RA1 r-comps on there now FTW! anything above 50F and I'm hooking up in 3rd now.
