I don't know where you read that, as it is completely incorrect. I read the whole bill last night, all 110 pages. Even just simple maths would show that $10,000 in extra taxes per person per year is wayyyy off. People seem to have lost their ability to add up.

EVEN IF $700bn was spent immediately, and NONE of it recovered (an impossibility) then $700bn divided by 140 million taxpayers is only $5000 each. A one off. Not every year. That doesnt include all the thousands of companies that pay tax

Then they turn around at the same time and say: "If you vote AGAINST the bailout, we the Republicans and the American people get to blame you when the economy falls to pieces." They're playing this like they're trying to absolve themselves from any wrongdoing, when our economy got into this mess because of them and their poor judgment in the first place.
